QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) I've seen them selling for $150/ticket on Craigslist and Ebay. I just bought 3 for $150.00 for Saturday's game against the Indians. Originally, they were going for $250, but the seller kept lowering his price about $8-$12 a day. Finally, today, a new seller emerged in the Scout Seats section, selling 2 seats for $200 apiece. I'm guessing my seller got nervous because he was already selling an odd number, and didn't want to get undercut, so he dropped the price from the $221 he had this morning to $150.00 so I pulled the trigger on Stubhub. Is there a specific gate I should enter at? My tickets don't really look any different.... What time should we get there for a 3:00 game? Will the ticket people security direct us to the buffet?

Latest Starter Linked to Sox in a Roundabout Way: Roy Oswalt
spiderman replied to fathom's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) And here is the dumbest thing to ever be said. According to Cubs ass kisser Paul Sullivan (on ESPN 1000), the reason Peavy and Oswalt didn't want to pitch in the AL Central for the Sox is possibly because the other teams in the AL Central play in bland cities (Detroit, Minnesota, Cleveland, KC). Thus, that's why they'd rather play for the Cubs and travel to the beautiful cities of St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Milwaukee. That may be the dumbest thing I've heard recently. -
Amenities Private lounge for entertaining clients and guests Premium reserved parking outside of Gate 3 Premium buffet in private lounge with all beverages included Private access to best seat locations in the park Wait service at the best seats for food and beverages Comfortable, wide seats Questions - I have access to buy scout seats for a game on this homestand. Are the drinks free? Is the food free? What time should I get there for a 3:05 game?

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:28 PM) FWIW... Schuster on the Score said he fully expects Peavy to decline this deal due to the concern about pitching in a launching pad such as US Cellular.... Schuster doesn't have any inside information. He's speculating just like we are.

QUOTE (G&T @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) Here's the thing: if he really doesn't want to move to the AL, then why are the Padres even discussing anything with the Sox? I'm doubtful this deal gets done. It doesn't sound like Peavy will make any decision any time soon, but it cannot simply be to stay in the NL. I think that ship has sailed for the Padres. That is a good question. Perhaps the Padres thought that Peavy would change his mind, but they had to know his feelings on a trade to an AL club. Same goes for the White Sox. Perhaps the Sox thought this would stay quiet, but now there's a giant PR debacle, not really the Sox fault, but still a trade that fell through.
-
What I'd like to see is how many outs on average Peavy gets per game as a result of long pop flys (and where, ie: dead center) as opposed to infield ground outs. This could give us a little perspective as to how well he'll do at first until he gets adjusted at U.S. Comiskular.

White Sox (4-4) @ Tampa Bay Rays (4-5), April 16, 6:08 CDT
spiderman replied to iWiN4PreP's topic in 2009 Season in Review
This would be a very bad loss should they lose this late. They should have at least 4 or 5 runs here tonight, but haven't been able to avoid a pop-up/double play with men in scoring position. Danks pitched a great game, let's hope they can get to Jenks with the lead in the 9th. -
Long story short....I'm trying to refinance, currently with a FHA Loan, but I just got a notice in the mail that says my home doesn't have the value that it needs to do that, and these loans are less restrictive than conventional loans. I don't know what my home was appraised at, but it doesn't appear as if it's has the value it needed. Anyways, it's my understanding that under the Obama Refinancing Plan, people whose current balances are close to their home value are able to get a new loan. Am I accurate? What's the quickest method to determine if I am eligible to try going down that route? Please PM me if you "in the business" and don't mind helping me out a bit on this. Thanks!

QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) Link to Suntimes article by Cowley. "Camp Cora has been up and running all winter for the White Sox, and the progress reports have third baseman Josh Fields emerging as a leading candidate to ''shock'' the organization when he reports to spring training in a little more than three weeks. Manager Ozzie Guillen criticized Fields last season for what Guillen felt were diminishing skills. So after clean-up knee surgery in the fall, Fields made a trip to Florida to work with Guillen and bench coach Joey Cora in preparation for taking over for free agent Joe Crede." His goal? To make sure Guillen can't criticize him -- specifically his defense -- any longer. ''I talked to Joey [on Monday] and he said [Fields is] moving better by far than he's ever moved,'' hitting coach Greg Walker said. ''He said we'll be shocked.'' There were also comments in the article about Alexei, Viciedo, and Paulie. Will he still strike out once a game?

Angels May Consider Trading For Dye or Paulie
spiderman replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (YASNY @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 08:01 AM) That's the dilemma. I think Anderson would hold down CF just fine and I believe Getz will nail down the 2B job, but you have to have somebody hit at the top of the order. I think there is still a possibility, though it may not great, that if the Sox trade Dye (which probably will happen at some point), they open up with LF Jerry Owens, CF Brian Anderson and RF Carlos Quentin. -
QUOTE (thedoctor @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) there are A LOT of guys still out there and the market is going to get even thicker once teams non-tender guys. i know that the winter meetings in many years are the high point of offseason activity, but that's not going to be the case this year. i think everyone's just trying to wait out the market and see what shakes out. this is one reason i'm not losing sleep over the fact that we didn't get anything done in vegas. we haven't seen the most active part of the offseason market yet. we will. There are still too many of the top tier free agents on the market, and it's been slow moving. Once these guys go, and the big spenders are done spending, we'll see some of the mid-level clubs jump in.

Angels May Consider Trading For Dye or Paulie

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 06:40 AM) 1) Proven record of playoff success 2) Also proved he was healthy (finally) the last six weeks of the aeason and got his "normal" power back 3) Is a comparative bargain with TEX at $20 million PLUS 4) Has been targeted for years by Angels 5) Has rededicated himself this offseason to better training, conditioning and nutrition for the first time in his big league career 6) Good "buy lower" candidate...wouldn't have to give up as much in return 7) Two year contract not as scary as 3-7 year deals for certain big-name FA's 1) That's true, but that was 3 years ago, and he has since had back-to-back unproductive seasons. 2) True again, he did play well down the stretch. Still, that's a big gamble given the money owed to him. 3) He'd be a bargain financially, but you're comparing him to one of the richest (soon to be) players in baseball. 4) Has he been targeted by the Angels for years, or has the media jumped on a rumor that isn't true? 5) He said the same thing after last season as well, but, even if he really is working hard in the off-season, he's still coming back a year older, and, for the most part, two straight down years. 6) True, they wouldn't have to give up much, but I'm assuming the White Sox would not want to send any money to them so they would have to take on the $$$. 7) Agreed - two some extent. $12 million a season for 2 more years is still significant. -
Angels May Consider Trading For Dye or Paulie
spiderman replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) Personally I'd rather trade Paulie than Dye, but either is fine. I hope Paulie gets his head out of his ass this upcoming season. I'd be very surprised if the Angels took Konerko. He's been in a 2 year rut, is making $12 million this year and next year. Why trade for a guy making big money who may be on the downside of his career? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) Yay, something I can do that doesn't involve powerpoint! Smartervegas.com will provide you with a listing of almost all of the available public codes that are put up by hotels. The discounts right now are ridiculous at the big ones. Cheapest rooms I've seen. If you're flying from wherever it is you're at, take a look at some of the MGM/Mirage owned hotels (the MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay for example) as I've seen several of them offering to chip in several hundred dollars of your air fare if you book a package through them. Fatwallet.com offers up many of the same codes, and sometimes swipes some of the insider codes for cardmembers and things like that which a non-message-board like the first link won't post. Oh, and Encore opens up in about 2 weeks. Thanks for the links! I'm looking for a MGM Air Fare type discount type deal, but aren't seeing those. Should I be seeing that on the link?

QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:39 PM) so assuming this deal goes through....Q moves to right ...does Dayan get long looks in ST in LF? i expect him to be in AAA this year anyways, but does he give LF a shot in the minors also? i think he does....or maybe josh does? that didn't go so well last time though I think there's a very good chance that might happen in spring training. I do expect Josh Fields to open up at 3B. -

QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 08:31 PM) So if this is true, do you think Bailey goes in as a lock for #4, or is he battling with Marquez, Poreda and Richard? He'd still have to perform in spring training, but going in, he'd be a favorite for the #4 spot. -

Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
spiderman replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If this is a 1 for 1 trade, obvoiusly, it's a little dissapointing that the White Sox didn't get more back. Saying that, I also have to assume that the Reds would be picking up the $11 million dollar salary for next season so you have to factor that into this. I realize the White Sox are going to cut payroll, but they are cleaning house right now....I don't think they are cutting back as much as they have so far so I do expect Williams to add some pieces to improve the team for next year. -
If he accepts it, I can live with it. He played fine for the White Sox last year, and gives us some speed, and defense for 1 year. Next year, Alexi can move to SS.

If no other pitchers are acquired, after the Vaz trade...
spiderman replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would be surprised if Kenny Williams doesn't either sign a value free agent pitcher who can be an innings-eater 200 IP guy or acquire another young starting pitcher who is major league ready for Jermaine Dye. If they did nothing (again, extremely unlikely), it's Marquez and Richard's job to lose. Marquez has the inside track being a right hander. Richard has an advantage in that he pitched well down the stretch, and got some good experience. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) I just think if the Sox are thinking OF they would go Abreu over Dunn. Not that I even think they are going OF, but its my personal feeling. Between these two, I think Dunn would make more sense, but also would cost more.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) But there are a few pretty good SP's out there that would only command 3 year deals...... Kenny Williams has said he's going to cut payroll. Why do we expect them to not let the young guys compete for roster spots? If I'm wrong, how about Garland returning?
