Definitely. If he signs for some asinine number, good luck to both parties. If he signs for less than what we offer than that is definitely meltdown time. Granted we will never know the specifics.

I think it might depend on WHERE they sign. If they go to Dodgers and Yankees I don’t think there is anything they could have done. But if Phillies and Yankees/Dodgers is the combo than I agree with this because Phillies did do something last year to improve.

If SS is the block, the White Sox will move Tim Anderson to CF. I believe Anderson has already said he prefers SS, but could play anywhere on the field.

Not getting my hopes up....but I do like that rumors are Machado was impressed. Phillies will probably come close in salary, and I don't see the Yanks being able to. I do agree I wish we went last, but sometimes first impressions are the best impressions. Let's throw out some what if's here. What if Machado is indeed so impressed that he decides to sign with White Sox quickly after meeting with Phils & Yanks...say this weekend. And let's say the market dries up for Harper...Dodgers can't move anyone and he doesn't like the Phils. Do the Sox open the checkbook again? Would Harper actually be ok signing second? I think Dodgers is most logical choice for Harper but I don't think they want to unless they can shed salary.

I REALLY want to be believe this. And where the Dodgers and Cubs are at only helps us. And honestly the trades both teams have to make, not sure it actually improves their team.

I expect a whole lot of nothing besides Harper is the best ever and pandering to him. Which to be fair he should be doing.
