WIN TOTAL
I think there is a prediction thread that has a ton of these predictions in it, but if we are going to start a new thread, I will go with 92 games as the low end.

Sox v. Rangers, 3:00 Start, 3/25/07
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) Hopefully Ozuna gets most of the playing time against LHP. The sad thing is that bad defense accounted for all the runs. God I hope so. I can only take so many light ground outs. BTW, Hall at 1B and Russell in to pitch.

Sox v. Rangers, 3:00 Start, 3/25/07
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Bingo there was number three. Our top three are 0-7. Make that 0-8.The worst part is that it was against a RHP. Imagine a LHP.

Sox v. Rangers, 3:00 Start, 3/25/07
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Am I crazy, or is Buehrle's start position and windup a little different than we're used to seeing. He seems more hunched over, bent at the waist.I thought it was the socks throwing me off, but you may be right. I will check out some past videos and see.

Danks wins White Sox fifth starter's job
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) I'm one of the few Soxtalk members who were willing to give Russell an extended opportunity to win the 5th starter's spot. As it is, after Danks was anointed the position Russell was pushed out of the start this afternoon and into relief. Which is a shame, considering pitching against Texas would have been an interesting challenge. Let's say he did pitch against Texas. If he were to last 5 innings and give up three hits, one earned run, one walk, and five strikeouts he'd be comparable to Danks in nearly every category. It would have been his third spring training start (to Danks' second) and -- in my opinion -- an appropriate gauge of his overall talent Even then, there's no guarantee Russell would have been selected. I just wish he would have been given a chance. Who knows would have happened? It certainly wouldn't have hurt anyone to delay the decision one day. Russell was pushed to relief because Buehrle wanted to face Major leaguers, not because of the Danks decision: I think Russell is going to be a huge sleeper for the Sox, whether that is in the pen or starting. I just hope they don't try to convert him halfway. Either make him a reliever or send him down to AAA to start.

Danks wins White Sox fifth starter's job
QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) Unless the Twinkies are going to a 4 man rotation this year (which we know is not the case, right?) Danks will NOT be facing Santana on Saturday April 7th. He will be, most likely, facing Ponson or some other scrub the Twins will be throwing out there...Saturday is the 5th game of the year for the Twins as well gentleman lets get our facts straight ;-)What are you talking about: QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) Congrats to John. When that trade first happened, I never thought he would be replacing B-Mac as the 5th starter this year. I hope he is up for Prime Time Baseball on FOX on April 7th vs Sidney Ponson.

Boone Logan: Mr. March? + Bullpen thoughts
QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 07:17 AM) From today's Daily Southtown: "Guillen confirmed that Nick Masset is a lock for the bullpen, leaving David Aardsma, Charlie Haeger, Gavin Floyd, Andrew Sisco, Boone Logan and Adam Russell competing for two spots. Sisco allowed one run in 1 1/3 innings in Saturday's "A" game vs. Arizona, while Aardsma gave up three runs on six hits in the minor league game." IMO, the two remaining bullpen guys will be Sisco and Haeger. Sisco has had a decent enough spring and has proven he can get major league hitters out, esp in 2005. And he can go more than 1 inning at a time. Boone is a one inning guy. Haeger has the versatility that no one else in this mix has. He can pitch 3,4 innings and eat innings. And he's proven in 2006 he can handle throwing in the bigs. The sox had said going into spring that his knuckler probably wasn't going to do much in ARIz. They should go by his September 2006 rather than his March 2007. Floyd hasn't thrown from the bullpen. He and Russell should be starting in AAA. Aarsdma and Logan then would be the sox first two bullpen call up options. What makes you believe Boone is just a one inning guy? I could easily see him working more than that. I would take Haeger who could also serve as an emergency starter. Russell is very intriguing, but I assume he could use a little seasoning in the minors. The rest of the guys need to log some innings and gain experience.

Questec Is Coming Back
Thats weird, because these are the only locations listed: Angel Stadium of Anaheim - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Chase Field - Arizona Diamondbacks Fenway Park - Boston Red Sox Jacobs Field - Cleveland Indians McAfee Coliseum - Oakland Athletics Miller Park - Milwaukee Brewers Minute Maid Park - Houston Astros Shea Stadium - New York Mets Tropicana Field - Tampa Bay Devil Rays Yankee Stadium - New York Yankees You would think they would update that kind of information.

Who is this Adam Russell?
He did look pretty good today, but he has not pitched enough to give him a fair evaluation. I think he has 10.0IP of work with 7Ks, 5 BBs, 14 Hs, and 6ER. I don't think he is in the running for the 5th starter spot. There is not enough innings to go around for him, Danks, Floyd, and Haeger, while still stretching out the other 4 starters.

What if its not Anderson, Terrero or Perez
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) I'd much rather have Terrero on the roster, atleast he can make a throw if need be. You can only have so many Podsednik's on a roster, one is maddening enough, 2 is suicide. Yeah, but they will have grinder-twin powers activated, which should intimidate the opposition on a daily basis.

Today is the Day! (3-18 Thread)
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 05:57 PM) Considering he is 28-11 the past 2 seasons in the minors, and was not too bad in the majors after his initial start (I'm sure nobody ever is nervous their first major league game) its unbelievable to me he's not the frontrunner for this job. It really should be his to lose. We thought that about McCarthy and look where he ended up. I really believe he is the fall back option. If Danks or Floyd show enough by opening day, Haeger should be the default 5th starter while the other two work out their issues in Charlotte.

Today is the Day! (3-18 Thread)
QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) This umpire sucks, and his strikezone is about the size of pea. That shouldn't be an excuse, but damn. are you kidding me? This strikezone is horrible. For Wells, Danks, and Floyd Ah man, I forgot that the Tribe also has Shin-Soo Choo. If I was the Tribe, I'd rather have Choo out in RF then Nixon. The ump has a tight strike zone. There were 3-4 pitches by Danks that were clearly strikes that were not called.

The best pitched inning in Sox history/Your thoughts
For one entire inning it was El Duque without a doubt. For one batter, the Jenks vs Bagwell was classic. Thats how I would separate those.

Is there a reasonable explanation for ESPNHD's
It only goes thru April 16th and on the 15th: San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Dodgers So there is a chance that other games will get shown. There will always be an East Coast bias on ESPN. There was a thing on ESPN radio where they admitted this and it is also evident by the lack of UFC coverage due to it being somewhat of a West Coast / Midwest thing.

Brian Anderson's Injury
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 08:12 PM) And yet, silliness aside, he's hitting .276/.353/.448 in Arizona -- better than Grinder can say. I think what Brian needs is some 'moxie'. Or some 'swagger'. Maybe then he'll be embraced. You are correct, Rowand has been horrible this spring .154/.190/.256

Brian Anderson's Injury
That swing did not look good. Hawk *laughing* said it looked like he could pull an achilles, oblique, and hamstring on the same swing. Then he could barely make it to first. If he is injured for more than a few days, it will give Ozzie more justification to send him to AAA.

Good article about Illinois basketball
QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) A A Peoria Journal Star article alys out why Illinois has such trouble recruiting: the article goes on to add the Weber disrespected Bryant by not talking to him on a recruiting visit, and Weber's great people-skills lead to 2 CPL coaches to walk out of a Weber clinic. I'll refrain from making a comment because I think the article speaks for itself.... Wow, that is totally ironic. I was wondering why the Illini were having such a hard time recruiting, and this seems to answer it. It makes sense, and Weber needs to go. He is overrated as a coach. Self built the team that Weber got all the praise for in 03/04 and 04/05. You can see the drop off started when Self's players left for the NBA (Williams, Head, etc). Just look at the Salukis, Weber leaves and they get better. Coincidence?
