What could the Sox get for Mackowiak ?
Mackowiak was 4-5 with 2 runs and a GW RBI today. It sucks to have his type of bat on the bench, we need to trade him.

Just what BA wanted to hear...
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 09:04 AM) Isn't Terrero a solid defender? Or is that incorrect? Yes, Terrero is a pretty decent fielder and has a good arm. He is probably close to Rowand but not as good as Anderson.

Rowand on The Score
Now I always thought that once deals like this are rumored, they rarely ever happen, especially wth KW. Most of the Sox deals come out of nowhere. Rowand has also been mentioned with the Padres, Blue Jays, etc so he might very well be on the move, but it might not be to the Sox. I know he is a likable guy, but performance-wise, he doesn't seem like an upgrade over Anderson.

Brian Anderson
I just hope the Sox field the team that gives them the best chance to win. So if that is with Anderson, that's great, but if it is not, at least he will be getting regular reps in Charlotte and not rotting on the bench.

Brian Anderson
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 04:08 AM) I think if BA can hit .260+ and 10 to 15 HRs. I would be elated with that. His approach has improved alot thus far in ST. I think he will be much better than last season. Hopefully the Sox stick with the kid.10-15 HRs for the season or ST? Thome was on a tear last ST and only hit 8, so I hope you mean for the season. I hope it doesn't come down to numbers, since they never tell the whole story. He only batted .309 last ST, and that did not translate into a good season. I think if he continues to work counts, take walks, and move runners over, he will have a great shot.

25 man roster? Is Anderson out??
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) Mack will not be traded this Spring, mainly because KW is dumb enough to make such a move, I still think Mackowiak is KW's backup plan at 2B in '08. With the way this roster is currently put together (cintron, Ozuna, Hall, Mack, Erstad, Podsednik, 4th OF) there is NO room for a guy like Perez. The best possible scenario would be one way or another Podesdnik does not play for the '07 Sox meaning Anderson is the team's CF, Mackowiak platoons in LF with Eduardo Perez and Erstad is used as a 4th OF. That's a winning combination. If Pods does not play, and Erstad is the 4th OF, who is leading off in that scenario, Gooch? From all indications, it looks like it is going to be either Erstad, Ozuna, or Pods leading off. Whether that is Erstad in LF or CF, Ozuna in LF or Pods in LF. I just hope Anderson is not the odd man out if Pods and Perez both make the team.

Sox @ Seattle, March 11
Orlando tags up from 3rd on a pop up behind 2nd and scores. Wow, he has some wheels. BTW, Illini a 12 seed.

Sox @ Seattle, March 11
QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) this guy doesn't look much better then Parque That was definitely a Wild Pitch, wow, about 3 feet outside and 4 feet over the catchers head.

Sox @ Seattle, March 11
The Sox must be paying for a portion of Parque's contract. He looks really bad.

Sox @ Seattle, March 11
I like that BA went the other way against the LHP. He looks sooo much better this spring.

Indians' Lee to begin year on DL
Per Rotoworld: Lee would have pitched in the first two series against us. Looks like it will be Carmona or Miller.

25 man roster? Is Anderson out??
It is Anderson, Podsednik, Fields, Sweeney, Terrero, and Perez in the mix for the final two roster spots. They have already said it will be an 11 man pitching staff. So for the bullpen, they basically have two positions available to Aardsma, Masset, Haeger, and Logan. Logan seems to have the edge as a Lefty and with his performance so far. That leaves one spot for Aardsma, Masset, and Haeger.

Fifth Starter Field Narrows
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) I really wish Haeger or Floyd would get it. I don't want to start Danks' arbitration clock.I don't think the arbitration clock is the #1 priority. If Danks gives the Sox the best chance to win, then he should be the #5. I wouldn't mind if either Danks or Floyd came in as the 5th starter and Haeger in the bullpen and as long relief and as the emergency 6th starter.

Fifth Starter Field Narrows
Tuesday should be interesting. With an 11 man pitching staff all but guaranteed, that means 14 spots for positional players with 3 positions still up in the air (LF, CF, and 4th OF). Erstad is at least guaranteed one of those spots, with Anderson, Podsednik, Fields, Sweeney, Terrero, and Perez in the mix for the final two roster spots. I would like to see Anderson in CF, Erstad in LF, with Perez on the bench for his ability to hit LHP. Fields, Sweeney, and Terrero could stay in Charlotte and get regular ABs. That leaves Pods the odd man out unless they move him or someone like Mackowiak. For the bullpen, they basically said two positions were available to (Aardsma, Masset, Haeger, Logan). Logan seems to have the edge as a Lefty and with his performance so far. That leaves one spot for Aardsma, Masset, and Haeger.

Sox vs. Rox, March 10th 2007, 2:05 CST (SS)
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) I actually am excited about Logan becoming a lefty specialist over the next few years. I saw him face some of the big time Tampa prospects in AAA last year, and he looked great. He just needs to get some more confidence and experience. As that recent article stated, I don't think Logan fit in on the big league club on/off the field last year. That's if he's not traded for Rowand.

LMAO! The Zambrano/A.J. McDonald's Commercial
It should've been AJ punching Barrett after he slams his hand on his Big Mac.

Sox vs. Rox, March 10th 2007, 2:05 CST (SS)
At least Logan was strong again, 2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1K. He has yet to allow a run in ST (6.1IP). I really hope the Sox don't trade him.

Sox vs. Oakland, March 10, 2:05 (SS)
Sox win! Bukvich strikeouts 5 in 2.0 IP, nice.

Sox vs. Rox, March 10th 2007, 2:05 CST (SS)
Rockies just scored 2, now the Sox are down 8-7. MacDougal getting lit up.

Anderson using broken bat fragments to get a hit - brilliant!
