Dye: "It's about...finishing my career here."
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) Good call on the Cubs. Very possible. I think alot would depend on what happens this season. I would be curious to find out what impact having Iguchi on the team would have. Would both of them embrace each other, or would there be tension? Could bringing in Ichiro help Gooch sign, or vise versa. Could resigning Iguchi help bring in Ichiro? It would be a blast to a have a 1-2 of Suzuki-Iguchi for a few years. They could be called: Suzuchi or Iguzuki

Big Year for Vazquez?
With the 5th spot still a question mark, we really need guys like Javy to step up. I just hope we see less of the "5 and out" games this year.

Sox Player Contracts
Looking at the spreadsheet, the Sox are in a great position to resign Buehrle, Dye, and Gooch. I still can't believe KW is talking like the Sox are in dire straits. 15 players are under the teams control (Auto), under Arbitration, or have Team options for 2008. That does not include the low guaranteed contracts of Hall and MacDougal. So that is 17 of 25 players that have very workable contracts.

Sox Player Contracts
QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) It may a dumb question, but under salaries, what does AUTO stand for? The minimum? Not enough service time for arbitration. So the team controls them. Kalapse, I love the DOB for the Count. Also, no Perez on the 25 man roster?

Will spring training game be on mlb.tv
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) There you go. There is no additional software or hardware as long as your computer has an S-Video output which it likely does. Just plug the cord into both the tv and computer then you'll either have to go into your advanced video settings and change the display or just send you computer into standby mode and it will do it for you. The quality is outstanding. fixed.

Will spring training game be on mlb.tv
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 10:38 AM) Since there's nothing for 2007 yet all the video for '05 and '06 is still in 350K. So it's not bad on my laptop screen but pretty damn good on my tv. The 700K demo looks awesome though, it's basically television quality. Sweet. So they still have the 05 games available?

Aaron rowand ST picture
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 12:44 AM) I don't need to explain myself to you people. I'm going to need this later. I don't remember Kong and Pods batting together?

Iguchi in the 7 spot?
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 08:52 AM) With no true leadoff man, why not place him at the one? I am definitely for that as long as the lineup behind him supports it. I think it is more of an entire lineup concept more than just a single spot.

Will spring training game be on mlb.tv
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) I bought my MLB.tv Permium account yesterday and it's incredible. I've already gone back and watched a few of Andy Sisco's outings from 2005 and a few of Masset and Aardsma's from '06. I also fell asleep watching some random Marlins/Dodger game last night. Mosaic looks ridiculously cool, can't wait until April 2nd so I can download that too. Kalapse, How is the video quality on premium?

Iguchi in the 7 spot?
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 12:27 AM) 2nd, Maybe I just didn't read it as closely as I should have, but I didn't see any direct quote about the move. You saw some "Gooch is a good player, he can hit all over" but nothing to the effect of "We wan't Iguchi to bat 7th in the order this year" It is specifically mentioned in the fourth paragraph: "Before that comes to a head, manager Ozzie Guillen would like to try Iguchi again in the seventh spot because of his run-producing skills—but only if he can get a better on-base percentage from those at the top of the order."
-
Iguchi in the 7 spot?
I would say that Gooch batting 7th would not be that big of a deal. It is not like the order matters that much after the 1st inning. What matters more is who is hitting before and after him. The Erstad-Pods thing however would be horrible. Actually, anything with Pods in it is horrible at this point.

Jose Contreras...
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) Bobby Jenks looks "great" in this pic: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...nes&index=6 Seriously encouraging. I know they said he lost about 20-25 pounds, but that proves it to me. He looks better/ QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) That is not Jenks, seriously I wonder if the people who write these captions have ever seen any of these players before. This is the second time I've seen that exact picture with an incorrect caption. I'm pretty damn sure that bulbous figure is Ryan Bukvich. That is hilarious. There is no way that is Jenks.

Jose Contreras...
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) A little off topic, but are the hats they are wearing just Spring Training issue hats? That solid white line carrying into the side of the hat is kind of neat Yes, those are ST hats. The Count does look thinner, but it might just be the angle of the picture.

I like Erstad already
Erstad will be a great clubhouse addition and will also benefit from playing in the Cell more often. He has a great line there for his career: .353 BA, .387 OBP, .518 SLG, .905 OPS

Buehrle turned down multi-year offer from the Sox
Who knows, Mark turning down the contract might have been one of the catalyst behind KW's mindset going into the offseason.

New delivery for Zito
http://www.nbcsports.com/mlb/1056261/detail.html I thought this was pretty odd to tinker with your delivery to this extent, especially if you are an established pitcher.

Building, winning don't mix
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) We have been a "HR or Nothing" team for the last 7 years. Get used to it. If you don't like it, I would sugguest finding a new team, because it seems thats the way the Sox like to be built. Playing in the Cell makes being a HR or Nothing team a little easier.

Predict Jim Thome's 500th Homer
July 28th vs Toronto. Also, due to injury, the Big Hurt hits his 500th in the same game.

White Sox Firefox Extension
QUOTE(Scwible @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) Love the extension. Might want to change the Palehose 6 link to the PaleHose 7. Ah thanks, will have that in the next update.

2007 AL East predictions?
So the better question is, if the Yankees and Red Sox will both be that good, what Division does the Wild Card come out of?

Sox Sign Eduardo Perez
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) It seems like we now have a legitimate back-up for every single position. CF - Erstad LF/RF - Mackowiak/Erstad and possibly even Ozuna at times for LF (this is all when Pods is healthy again, of course) 3B - Cintron/Mackowiak SS - Cintron 2B - Ozuna/Cintron 1B - Mackowiak/Perez/Thome (if it's really necessary) C - Hall Still though, there are 26 players and only 25 spots. If Perez makes the team, I don't think we will see Thome at 1B except maybe in interleague play. You could also add guys like Perez, Mackowiak, and Hall backing up Thome at DH. So there seems to be enough ABs to go around.

LF Platoon options
Iguchi will be fine vs Lefties. I wouldn't mind seeing him leadoff, but it seems like Ozzie either wants him at #2 or down in the order. The funny thing is everyone makes a big deal about leadoff, and yet that spot is only guaranteed to leadoff once a game. I would just take high OBP guys ahead of the big 3.
