White Sox vs. Indians, 4/13/07 (W)
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) Pierzynski was hustling down the line there. GRINDER. It looked like he could have made it really close if he actually ran down the line.

Anyone else watching the C*bs implode?
Wow, horrible managing. You are up by 5 runs entering the 5th, then you let your starting pitching do the following before pulling him: J. Castro singled to center C. Moeller singled to center B. Phillips walked J. Hamilton singled to right, J. Castro and C. Moeller scored A. Dunn singled to center, B. Phillips scored K. Griffey Jr. doubled to right, J. Hamilton scored E. Encarnacion hit by pitch 5 hits, 1 walk, 1 HBP, and 4 runs. Then the two inherited runners score on walks from the next reliever, and you leave the inning down by one.

Is the Sox-Cubs rivalry the same for non-Chicagoans?
After living 18 years in Chicago, I have been all over the states and world - and the rivalry is less exciting and intense outside of Chicago. The easiest way to equate it is thinking how you feel about the Mets vs Yankees. That is how others see the Sox vs Cubs. It is still a fun series to watch, and the incident last year (AJ Punch) will bring some excitement to it this year, along with Lou vs Ozzie. The biggest story might be Aardsma vs Cotts. /green

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Rush is still in the Limelight, still in the Camera Eye, still with Vital Signs, and going strong, but sadly not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Some Witch Hunt I guess. No need for Tears, perhaps they will be inducted by 2112."In the End", they are just a "Fly by Night" making "Permanent Waves" "Closer to the Heart". You are right, how they are not in the RnR HoF is beyond me. Online petition here: http://www.petitiononline.com/xanstar/

Road Trip
QUOTE(salty99 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) Sorry folks the games are going to be in Cleveland. Tomorrow's game may be changed to an afternoon start though. http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/news/arti...sp&c_id=cle No, they are talking about moving Saturday's game, not Friday's: QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 05:06 PM) Watch 'em get snowed out... then where are they gonna make up all these games, LOL. The Sox would have to make the games up as well - which would suck since they already had one PPD.

Idea...
QUOTE(Random @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) in order to get anything out of talkbhawks, you would have to make it its own seperate forum, not affiliated with soxtalk, like BHZ That doesn't make much sense. Soxtalk would seem to enhance the growth of other forums, not hurt it. You can populate it with current members, and the site would grow over time (just like Soxtalk did). Hell, when I joined Soxtalk, I found it on the 2nd page of Google for "White Sox forums" and now Soxtalk is the 3rd entry for that search.

2007 AL Central Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Angles up 2-1 in the 8th. Old Man Roberto once again couldn't hold the lead, and left the game with an injury. It's early, but it looks like the Tribe's downfall could be the pen, once again. I have a feeling we will hear that a lot this year, which is a good thing.

If you were GM of an expansion franchise and could have
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Conversely, if Mauer stays at catcher with the added two inches of height, you can't help but feel that he will hit with even more extra base power and pick up some additional RBI's due to the higher slugging percentage. The size increase will take a bigger toll on his body as a catcher though. If he wants to have a long career, his best option would be to move to 1B sooner than later. The size will help with more power, but it could also change his bat speed and form. It will be something to watch later in the year.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) I'm pretty sure that they weren't letting him throw his slider last year (someone correct me if i'm wrong) to try to protect his arm until he grew up a little more. The couple reasons he made my list: I was only picking 1 offensive guy because I think pitching is more important, Johan obviously hits the list, and I wanted someone with Johan-level-talent who I think has a good shot at staying healthy. I'm not sold on Verlander staying healthy yet, and I'm pretty happy with the way Seattle has tried to baby his arm. I did not know that about last year. I watched the game last night, and in that atmosphere, in Boston vs DK, throwing a one-hitter was pretty amazing. However, I would like to see him do it for several starts before anointing him. Liriano seemed like a similar pick before his injury. Santana-like talent but much younger. Hernandez is definitely going in that direction. I definitely see your POV, I am just going to wait and see on him. Mauer is an interesting pick, because some say his time as a catcher is numbered due to his size. He probably has less value as a 1B or DH.

Most Intimidating Baseball Player Ever???
I was thinking this was somehow related to the White Sox since it was in PHT, but I guess not.

If you were GM of an expansion franchise and could have
Its amazing how Hernandez's perception has changed over a couple of starts. He was an above-average pitcher last year. I don't doubt that he will have a good year, but I am going to wait a little longer before calling him an ace. My picks: Santana Cabrera Sizemore

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) bad innings are gonna happen every so often, that's just baseball. True, but 5 bad innings out of 72 is pretty good. How about this one: White Sox pitching has thrown 58 shutout innings out of 72 (81%). That means opponents have only scored in 14 innings, and five of those were big innings (3+ runs).

White Sox "collapse" in Power Ratings after 1 game?
That's silly, we are only 1 GB for the Division and 0.5 out from the WC.
-
12th Pitcher
Also, the Sox have averaged using over 4 pitchers a game, and have only used 3 once. Eventually that is going to have to change. Hopefully the starters can start to stretch it to the 7th.

12th Pitcher
I know it is early, but it seems like the team really could use a 12th pitcher right now. Through the first 6 games, the relievers have more innings than the starters. My concern is, will these additional innings bite us down the road in August and September? If you look at other roster spots, Mackowiak has only 3 ABs, and Anderson only has 1. I know it is early, but would sending BA down to get some AB's in Charlotte while adding another pitcher to help with the workload be the best option?
