Damnit, do I have to summarize the Methods and Materials?

Did you see all the wonderful merchandise he had for sale? Guys, howsabout you get this fine necklace for your best gal: "Neuticles: It's Like Nothing Ever Changed!"
-
He was the wife beater.

Some conclusions: Here’s the original article: Cross-National Correlations of Quantifiable Societal Health with Popular Religiosity and Secularism in the Prosperous Democracies Here’s one popular review of the study from the Times of London: Societies worse off 'when they have God on their side'

My main gripe echoes what winningugly said – most of these network game callers are all about me me me. I can’t stand it when they constantly break from the field to show the three monkeys lined up in a row in the booth cracking scripted jokes with each other. I will never forget that Berman referred to Paul Konerko as KoKo during the Wednesday game. Gag. And can’t he stop screaming orgasmically on every fly ball way short of the warning track as if he’s recording a highlight reel? But I don’t totally mind having a break from Hawk and DJ. I would love to listen to Bob Costas call the games. And I gotta say, I never realized before how good looking Mike Piazza is. He cleans up good.

A blog? HawK? Are we talking about the same Hawk? I believe he said during one of the broadcasts this year that he was planning on taking a computer class in the off-season. From his constant banter on the subject with DJ, I get the impression that he doesn't have a computer. ("I luv email" aside)

Alright, now, there we go again. My turn to be caught in the “too many Rex’s around here” morass. I thought that Mr. Kickass was simply ignoring my question about his fetish, er, interest in strong, attractive older women. But I see that you are not he, so there is still hope that this matter will be clarified. Or not.
-
Isn't ANY Stephen King movie adaptation << any Stephen King "literary" work?
-
Oh, go ahead. First Bea, now Mary Kay. Is there a name for this particular, um, interest in butch older women?
-
One exception off the top of my head - I would nominate The Godfather movies as superior to Puzo’s novel. Re “not the only gay in the village” quote from the linked article: I just discovered Little Britain this year; am watching episodes from 2003. God, it is hysterical in parts. Trust those wacky Brits to do drag perfectly.

Your #1 reminded me of an interaction in middle school long ago: Her: Boy, there was a big fight at the house yesterday! Me: Really? Your mom and dad? Or were they mad at you about something? Her (with scorn and with hand on hip): Oh no, I meant at the House of Representatives. (her father was a US congressman). Okay. The little priss set me up. But after I re-told the story to every one I knew in my (and her) pre-teen set, I felt sooo much better. And SHE was the one who came off looking like a dope. Re your #2: And tying into your #1, you might have replied, “Well yes, probably, you could trace the derivation to the Gospel of St. John, but I was thinking of the song from The Libertines eponymous album.”

But aren't most garden tours in the springtime?
-
Thats okay. YOU look.

Some call it "Bush's base." Others call it "religious extremists." Maybe we're in for smoother sailing, not gridlock. Something about pride going before a great fall.

Please, I need help! Can someone work an intervention on me? I've become addicted to reading Red Sox message boards in the last couple of days. What a deliciously quilty pleasure. But a real time sink.
-
Looks like you’re a good luck charm. Let’s do a Groundhog Day and celebrate your birthday again tomorrow.

I assume the booing was purely political – Democrats razzing a Republican. The radio remark was your typical sexual innuendo – classless. But what would anyone expect from a broadcast team that makes jokes about Ron Santo’s amputations? Shame on me for listening that day.
-
Excellent points, both. It was nice to see Big Jim at a game recently. I was really steamed to hear one of those creeps on blab radio (B & B maybe?) later make a snotty little remark about him.

Please! No one doubts Daley’s bona fides as a huge Sox fan. But his recent remarks about one or two of Ozzie's decisions might not have gone over too well with some. Don’t know if its true, but I’ve heard one story that his mother was buried with a White Sox cap in her casket.
-
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade - but wouldn't Mayor Daley have been a logical choice?
-
Hmmmm, dunno 'bout that. This from your linked piece: Still trying to unearth the positives of this nominee - she majored in math for her undergraduate degree.

Here’s a (unintentionally?) funny paragraph from a New York Times profile today: She’s sounding a little like a conservative version of Janet Reno. Any bets on how long before the rumors start?

I’m sorry for your pain. When someone who’s just starting out in life turns away from it, it can be baffling. And a lot of anger is left intermingled with the grief for the survivors. It can feel overwhelming at first. Especially with the young or with those away at college without their usual supports, a suicide can spur others who are feeling vulnerable to contemplate similar behavior. I hope you’ll be vigilant with anyone you know who might fit that description.

If you say so, I guess? I hadn’t heard that one in a while. When I read the lyrics, my immediate thought was, “I bet that was written by someone really young, or really jejune.” I had no idea. Turns out the words were penned by the movie director Altman's 14 year-old son.
