QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) And as for the petty part, after reading the stuff that is posted and said by a couple of people, including yourself here daily, there really isn't much room to talk. Look in the mirror much???

QUOTE (mreye @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Girls like to dress up. Get something she can wear all the time. Or trade costumes year to year with another parent. But, yeah. Like someone else said: get used to it. We spend a lot of time at "Once Upon a Child." Very good deals. I went there today - they opened one the size of a warehouse in Joliet. It's the size of Costco!!. Anyway, didn't find much there that would fit her that's not bunting. She's still just over 15lbs which is 3-6 month territory. I did find a few that I liked at that halloween store on 59 and Jim and I are going to go tomorrow night to look. He wants to see them... he didn't get to do this stuff the first time around so he's waaaay to involved . But my leading ones are a flower, a duck with cute striped leggings, and a really cute princess - but that one concerns me because of the weather as it has exposed arms. I saw a couple that were absolutely adorable for newborns.. a whoopie cushion bunting, and a slice of pizza bunting.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:54 AM) Look around Steff, you can find good kid costumes for reasonable prices. My sister found my 1 1/2 year old niece a cute duck costume, and it seems like it will be comfortable for her. Go to those Halloween stores that pop up in strip malls. By my work in Crystal Lake we have 2 literally a quarter mile from each other so the prices are really good. I've always loved Halloween and had great times as a kid and as an adult, but for real young kids probably the most important thing is that they're comfortable in their costume, you get a few cute pics out of it and you use them to score free candy from neighbors There is one on 59 I'm going to try today. And I agree comfort is #1 at this point. She's only going to be wearing the thing to Jim's office and maybe a stroll around the neighborhood.

My neighbor (fellow sox fan) came over all giddy to show us the costume that his son is wearing this year... he's 16 months old. It's a goat. Now this costume is super cute, and I know the kid doesn't know any better, but this being my first year doing this stuff and seeing how much of a big deal it is to the neighbor, as he is convinced the Cubs are going to blow it, I started to get a bit concerned. I stopped at the store today and there are like 30 costumes to choose from. And they aint the little plastic face things I remember from loooong ago either. $40 for a halloween costume... is this for real???

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 05:59 PM) but she's a woman. Cant say anything bad. It's just not cool, man Never attack a woman. They are off limits. I thought the feminist movement was to make woman on par with men when it comes to rights and privileges. THe moment one reaches that level.. "oh yea, dont attack a woman. You can attack a man (Biden), but women (Palin) are off limits" I almost fell over in the check out line at Babies-R-Us today... 2 black ladies were behind me discussing men "attacking" Palin cause she's a woman. They said, no s*** here, "men should just shut up about her. It's like white folks sayin the N word (but they said it), don't even try it". The checkout lady and I both were speechless.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 11:36 AM) Haha thats awesome. RHS is a SOCo and Jager shot I think That's it. Some barely 21'ers were doing them at the bowling alley Saturday night. I'm kinda impressed with LL's opinion - though I wouldn't be surprised if someone scripted her blog for her. There are 20 something's that (sadly) look up to and possibly follow her opinion and at least it wasn't something like "oh my God... she's like totally not like.. ummm... uhh... hmm.. what is she trying to do again..?"

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) For the last few years at the cell, they periodically play an audio of what sounds like a bunch of cheerleaders making some sort of a call/chant/whatever it is , and at the end of it you hear a loud and long OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo!!!!!! Does anybody know what the heck they are saying/chanting and what it supposedly represents? The last few years...? Rowdie has been going on since I was in high school. Waaay more than just a few years ago
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) at the Cell? or in some interweb store? At the cell. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the only shirt that was being printed last night.

I have never seen McCain so uncomfortable. Babara wasn't letting up. He cut Joy off several times and Whoopie was rolling her eyes at him for most of the first segment. His answer to her "separation of church & state" question turned into an advertisement for personal beliefs and when Elizabeth asked him about RVW he completely danced off the question and said "I will appoint R's, D's, and I's to the court to get all views..." When Cindy was asked if she supported abortion in the cases of rape & incest - a stance Palin does NOT agree with - she said she did NOT agree with Palin. I wonder how that will play out since Palin seems to be huge on that issue. At the end Barbara said to McCain "Tell Palin to come on. We'll ask her easy questions." Joy just about lost it in laughter before the cameras cut off. Overall I think he was terrible the first 30 minutes thinking that talking over them would work. He seemed to get it the second half though. Cincy sounded like a stuck up snob when asked how many houses they really do have. Something about her rubs me the wrong way. Though I'm not a MO fan either. Quite honestly I think the spouses should be seen and not heard right now.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) We tried. Most of the people there have brought their kids throughout. I have seen several of them 'grow up' while I was bowling. My kids come as well most nights. Wanna bowl here as well? You know you want to......... I don't know anything other than bringing her. Tonight is her 20th Sox game and she already been to Soldier field!! To be honest we love to bowl and would love to if we had the time but that would conflict with our St Charles league.
-
Wow bowling sure has gotten crazy popular over the past several years. We had to struggle to fill the leagues we are in just a few years ago now there's a line. We bowl at Stardust in Addison and St. Charles bowl and it's an awesome time. And tell those kids to bring the babies with! Bri slept in her travel swing or car seat when she was a baby and now she sits in her booster and loves all the attention.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) You're right. So because someone says something, other people have the right to manipulate it however they please apparently. And thats okay. I mean, leading people to believe one thing that it isnt is technically not lieing so that makes all the difference! Did McCain say "make it a hundred..."? Yes, he did. It's not like Obama pulled it out of his ass. And he's using the exact words he used so it's hard to call it manipulation. In any event, like I said earlier, if someone believes it to be the truth more than exaggeration, out of McCain's mouth or Obama's, IMO they need a reality check.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) Ah, so apparently to continue a war it is now assumed that means for 100 years? Gotchya... ASSume whatever you like. Those using the quote are using text from McCain's own mouth. No ASSumption there.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) Are we continuing the war in Germany? Guess you got me there since continue would apply as well after an intermission. Though I can't rip Obama's ass for using John's own words as an obvious exaggeration. There are so many other bigger issues.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) That's a lie. Tell me how, in any way, McCain says he'd CONTINUE a WAR in Iraq for 100 years. What would you call it? Restarting it? I mean if it's already going... keeping it going.. is... continuing it... no?
-
Oh yea, you had the file not the scraper thing. I would guess that's like the stone. At my place they boil the stones and take a nice hot one out for each use. And they put the dirty ones in disinfectant before they are boiled. The razor thing they described sounds like a carrot or potato peeler.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) Verbal fumblings?! Obama lied to people for over a month of campaigning by saying McCain wanted to be in Iraq for 100 years, even though that's not at all what McCain said or what McCain meant. I consider that the same - blatantly misquoting/misrepresentuing the situation for political gain. If people believed that comment was more than in jest given McCain's physical condition, then shame on them.
-
So I asked the ladies about these scraper things and they said they don't use them # 1. because they are not safe - because they can cut into the skin too deep - and # 2. that there is no way to appropriately sanatize the blade between customers. One of the techs said where she formerly worked at she was given 1 blade a day. Ick! They also said the that the pumice stone and some elbow grease is all that's needed to get dead skin off the bottom of the feet. Tex, I would not go back to that place.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 10:35 PM) Hehe, yea, that's for when it's supposed to be here. OK. It's still nearly 900 miles from you.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) I think that quote is saying what it will be like when the storm passes. Ike is a monster, but he's not THAT big. I didn't say it was.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) Wow. Sounds like we're in for a tumbler night... that's for Dallas/Fort Worth. And it's still almost 900 miles from you.

Excellent tracking site. http://www.stormpulse.com/hurricane-ike-2008 Houston & Galveston are screwed.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 05:27 PM) So, I don't know this sport as well as you might...but it's always been my impression that it was as hard to get away with things in cycling as it was in any sport, and especially for the final years of his run, he was probably being tested more closely than any other sporting figure in the country. It's even more difficult to get away with things in cycling. They test more often and more random. And after his cancer diagnosis he was being tested more often due to the homeopathic drug regimen he was on.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) Lance Armstrong is right up there with Sammy Sosa on the "he didn't test positive, but damn it's obvious what he was doing" scale. I personally have no hate for Lance Armstrong, he's made himself quite a bit of money doing it and the fact he's even alive is remarkable (although his cancer recovery and cycling careers are seperate things). But to think he's been clean all along is to have your head in the sand. I prefer to call it informed.
