QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) No you're right it wouldnt be that hard.........it would be IMPOSSIBLE if the Sox ONLY go .500 from here, Detroit would have to go 38-12 the rest of the way. Good luck if they could pull that one off Until we clinch.. nothing is impossible. Detroit, eh... :rolly

QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) I realize that but it would be awfully hard to choke away a 13 game lead plus i guess it doesn't help that we are the A's b**** No.. it wouldn't be that hard. And it's got nothing to do with being anyone's b****... Oakland has been a better team than us in the past several years. It's clear why they are looked at more seriously.

Oakland has a history of turning it on in the second half.. and the Sox have a history of choking in the second half.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) Hey! We're in the clear!!! He keeps saying "God willing", and I am pretty sure that God isn't on the side of f***ed up lunatics if he is on anybodies side!!! I can think of 1 effed up lunatic that thinks he is... :rolly

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) I remember listening to him a few months ago and he had almost no voice left. It was really sad to see, since a voice is such an important part of their profession. RIP. That was the day he left the air... And I agree.. it was very sad. He was so strained.

Aside from the bad leather outfit.. Eddie was hysterical also. Haven't seen Chappelle's stand up yet although I have heard he is funny too.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Some comics make you laugh and some make social commentary, Rock does both. He had me in stitches the first 2 minutes... "I had a daughter.. when I pick her up and just look at her.. I realize that I have just one job in life.... to keep her off the pole." OMFG.. I was laughing my ass off.

The Twins and Yanks ar nearly sold out (Supposedly Friday and Sat Yanks games are sold out). Detroit weekend series should also be near sold out, KC not sure, but LA definitely near sold out. I would imagine if the Sox have not clinched by the 19th - which hopefully they will have - the Cleveland series will be close to a sell out and Minnesota - being the last homestand will definitely be close to a sell out. I think they can hit 2.4 easy.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) why's that in green? Seriously.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:04 AM) All that excitement and NONE of you are attending. And you call yourself Sox fans. I will be bringing myself and five other fans so we will make up for the ineptness of the rest of you... You're all too whiny about it being on a Thursday night give me a break. We'll be there.. And tell me about the whiny crap.. :rolly I get up at least 2 hours before most of you "kids".. work a full time job longer then your school day.. and maintain a household.. yet still find the time to attend weeknight games - and most of the time go out after the game.

http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-13402521,00.html KITTEN BATTERED TO DEATH A six-week-old kitten was battered to death to avoid vets bills after being trapped in a door, a court heard. Pre-school assistant Emma Cherrett, 25, accidentally injured Star the cat in the door last October but the wounds were not fatal, magistrates heard. However, instead of taking him for treatment, her mother Patricia Smith, 46, asked for a carrier bag and took a metre long baseball bat-shaped cylinder of wood. Cherrett placed the short haired male into the bag and her mother took it to the front doorstep and rained down three to four hard blows, crushing the animal's skull. Both women, from Colden Common, in Winchester, were found guilty of cruelly ill-treating a domestic short-haired kitten. Chairman of the bench John Stainton told them jail was a possibility when they are sentenced later this month. He said: "The suffering was not inevitable. A reasonable person would have taken the animal to a vet." In interview with the RSPCA, Cherrett said: "I didn't want it to go through any more pain. I had to put it out of its misery. The last time I had to have a cat put to sleep it cost £170 at the vets, I couldn't afford it." She added: "My mum had to hit it a couple of times. I don't think she hit it hard enough the first time." Cherrett said she had not had Star spayed because it cost £45, which was too expensive. She said in her statement: "At the end we both felt we were doing the right thing. Now I know I didn't do the right thing. "If it happened again I think I would take it to the vets, hand it over and say it wasn't mine." The court heard the kitten would have survived if it received treatment after being trapped in the door and it would have been alive after Smith's first blow. The RSPCA became involved when a member of the public contacted inspectors after hearing what the pair had done. Jan Edwards, the charity's inspector in charge of the case, said: "It has been quite a shocking case really because it is such a small animal, such a small, little kitten, six weeks old. "The fact that they decided in less than a minute that the kitten was that severely injured and that was the only course of action for them is extremely worrying."

Not a movie.. but I watched Chris Rock on HBO last night (taped show from DC from last year I think)... good God that man is hysterical.

"Critics find it an obsession bordering on the bizarre, twisting traditional notions of news judgment and becoming Exhibit A in the media's fascination with missing people - as long as they happen to be young, white, female and pretty." As the ratings show.. it's not just the media that has this obsession.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) I couldnt believe this when I saw it. I remember him on the air only a few weeks ago. Can't believe it, RIP my freind. He has never returned to the air since he announced he had the cancer. Maybe you saw a rebroadcast since there was a story not so long ago about his coverage of 9-11. Very sad regardless. 67 years young..

QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) Seriously, give me a f***in break. Congress doesn't have anything better to do than to intervene in a professional sport's drug testing policy? Is it really their concern? I personally think that in the grand scheme of things, professional sports don't mean squat, and I don't understand why Congress is adding this to the top of their priority list. Thanks to the anti-trust agreement... yes, it is their business I would say. Baseball screwed themselves by not doing something more and doing it sooner. As for your question will them stopping the pro's from doing it help stop the kids from doing them... maybe ask the parents of the kid who killed himself because he wanted to be like his hero Mark McGwire and started taking roids when he was 15...

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) The saddest post I've ever made on here, probably, but I don't. I think it will be done. And, when it happens, Hell hath no fury... And I'll go a step further and say that I believe it's a lot closer then we think...

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) She was left alone. And she did what she was trained. Can't argue that logic with this post.. Afterall.. it seems your mommy and daddy left you alone with the computer and you did what you were trained to do.

QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Christ, say anything bad about Brooks and be crucified. Say anything that the majority of people don't agree with and be crucified. SORRY for being busy on a Thursday and thinking they could have done better. s***, they could have done this before school started on a weekday. Sorry for expressing my opinion. I'll remember not to again. I don't eat Cheerios, but if I did I'm sure they'd be fine. And I hardy crucified you or defended anyone. They could have not done anything at all. Thankfully not everyone who can't go shares your opinion.

QUOTE(LDF @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) why did they not want to talk about attendance? we always kept on saying, if management put the product on the field, that fans will come out. that was why we were soooo angry with the sox. btw good to see again iwc. peace Most didn't have a problem with it.. until the assholes started crying about how people don't go... while sitting home typing on their keyboards no less. Just got to be easier to stop all the bs posts about how attendance sucked. Good to see you LDF.. a friendly face not seen nearly enough.
-
QUOTE(gosox41 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) You mean we can actually talk about attendance here? It's good to see we're able to talk about a positive White Sox topic without retribution. Bob As long as it doesn't turn into the asshole fest it did at the other place I wouldn't anticipate a problem.

QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) I do find it hard to believe the Tiger series the weekend before couldn't accomodate a group this large. Just everyone take a chill pill, you act like everything Brooks does is perfect. IMO he (or whoever coordinated this) screwed up big time cause not every kid can take the day off of school for a baseball game. You do.. did you happen to see the attendance for the last Tigers series... let me refresh your memory... near sold out. They blocked 500 LOWER DECK TICKETS for this. That is almost 2 ENTIRE outfield sections. And if that doesn't satisfy ya.. take a look on TM or call the Sox and check the avaliability of WEEKEND LOWER DECK tickets the rest of the season... they are over 90% capasity for EVERY weekend game and over 70% on most other days. And no.. nothing everyone does is perfect.. but they came to us and OFFERED to do something nice. Did they have to.. no. Sorry you can't go, but there's no reason to be an unapreciative jerk about it.

QP.. sorry for the loss of Brian's uncle. My mom's passed away last week and that also opened up a bunch of stuff. Never easy dealing with that stuff. Good luck with the showers.. oye.. mine were a mess. :wacko
