  1. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) A huge drill bit that would be better off dug into the ground than built in the middle of our beautiful city I may eat my words but I'm near certain this idea will never get approval. I think it's ugly also. We just took the boat ride down the river to see all the awesome architecture.. and you're right that it would look better in the ground. I never realized all the beauty and history in Chicago. I was in awe.
  2. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Poor Nevin plz multi -millionaire cry for someone else Yea poor him.. :rolly FWIU both of his inlaws are deathly ill and his wife does not want to move, and he doesn't want to be without his wife and kids. A big reason he wanted the NT clause, which the Pads gave him. Sorry.. but I don't see the point in s***ting on a guy because of circumstances like that.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) I thought he was working on the Trump Towers getting built on the old Sun Times site? You're right. As for this one.. it looks like a huge drill bit.
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) For those Apprentice watchers out there, the series' first winner, Bill Rancik, a Chicago native, is one of the men in charge of that tower. It's been in the plans for a while now, but I don't know if it will be approved. Incorrect. Bill's working on Trump's building.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) CNBC a week or so ago. Article: http://www.thestreet.com/_tscs/markets/ros...l/10233520.html I was wrong about the 9-11 thing though, they had a tiny profit in the same quarter last year. Those pay cuts and pension reductions you alluded to are a big reason why. Thanks for the link. And it's United she works for not American so me for that..
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) And if you had made it, all of your stalkers would have been attacking you, and then PMing me to save them once you snapped. But of course..
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Funny you said that cause I didn't even bother looking at this thread till someone PMed me and said you dragged me into it. Even funnier is I didn't "drag" you into it as a means to be derogatory.. :rolly I made an example of posters who are liked getting props for saying something harmless versus someone who is new, or not liked getting s*** on. And to whomever PM'd you that... :dips***.
  8. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/odd_bust_dc;_yl...HBhBHNlYwM5NjQ- SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) - A Texas man was arrested on Monday after calling police to complain about the theft of his marijuana, authorities said. Stephen Knight, 17, said three men had broken into his apartment, hogtied him with Christmas lights and stole some marijuana, along with a plasma screen television, police said. Police are looking for the suspects. In the meantime, they arrested Knight after finding several marijuana plants growing under heat lamps in the apartment, four grams of harvested marijuana and a tablet of ecstasy, Officer Chad Ripley said. Knight said the men barged into his home early on Monday morning demanding, "Where's the weed?," according to San Antonio police.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) Gotta love the newbies who come in looking for a fight... Don't discount the vets.. Had NUKE made this thread everyone would be rushing in here to give him a "HELL YEA". :rolly
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) Wow people jump off of bandwagons quick. Can't stay healthy? Thome hasn't played less than 143 games since 1998. He hasn't hit less than 40 hrs since 2000, or less than 30 since 1995. Thome hasn't had an OPS under .900 since 1994. 2005 is the first year he has missed signficant time since 1998, and everybody is ready to throw him under the bus. Hell I wish Frank Thomas was that healthy... No kidding.. It must be the heat around here lately. No other logical explanation for the craziness..

    On airlines...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) Southwest airlines is the only airline that has a smart business plan, the rest of them suck. Agree. And NUKE where did you see that AA turned a profit..? The CEO's wife here works for their corporate offices and he's always telling us how she's at risk of loosing her retirement $$, and just had to take another pay cut in March.
  12. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) I was talking about the streets going through the subdivision also. I dont know if this is common practice, but the subdivision we lived in originally made the streets and cul de sacs and paved them about 3-4 inches short of the curb, so they could just put the new blacktop down on top and have it look like it is flush and brand new. Yea, that's common. So that the streets and driveways settle. It's actually asphalt. And yes.. it does stink.. peeuuu.
  13. Oh boy... gonna be a mess for the rest of the day. for everyone involved.
  14. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) They wait until all the construction is done on the houses before they finish paving the street because the constant heavy construction machinery beating up the pavement. Blacktop stinks, when it is 100 degrees it stinks even worse. Ohh.. you mean the driveways. I thought you were talking about the blacktop on commercial roofs.
  15. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) We were the first house on the backside of a subdivision in high school. For 3 years, all i heard every morning was construction workers, trucks, machines, piledrivers, tractors. Plus, I got to smell the wonderful smell of blacktop on the last day of construction, a 100 degree day, which lasted for about 3 weeks. I know how much it sucks. Blacktop...? On residential homes..??? Not sure.. but I'm gonna guess that's a huge building code violation. We were the 3rd house on our lake.. they are almost done with our section of the neighborhood. Never heard them too much.. probably cause we have jobs and left before they started working..
  16. I wish the camera was mounted on the shuttle and not the fuel tank..
  17. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Right by Space Coast Stadium...? Cool. I took my family up there for a Manatees/Lakeland Tigers game just last night. Gorgeous, breezy night. I'm worried that as they build up all the open pasture land around te stadium that it's not going to have those wonderful cool night breezes after sunset like you can almost always count on now. They are worried also. But since my aunt and uncle both still work at the cape, and my grampa was retired from the force they could move closer to the cape and not have to deal with the growth for a while longer. But my grama doesn't want to move any closer to the ocean.
  18. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) That's the place I call home. Not at your aunt and uncle's , Melbourne rather. Though technically with our move a few months back I'm now a resident of Palm Bay. Cool. My grama lives there also. Right down the street from the Cracker Barrell off the expressway.
  19. Shame on him...? I don't know about that.. but it's funny to me that folks are being told to stfu about an ESPN interview/article.. then an attendance argument/debate starts.
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) My wife and kids are out at the beach for the launch. :usa I'm stuck at work having to watch online. My sister went to our aunt & uncle's house in Melbourne.
  21. They are at a 9 minute hold for 45 minutes
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 07:55 AM) The one complaint I was puzzled by is he didn't like the food at the Cell and called it generic with hot dogs and pizza. He was looking for ribs or some Chicago specialties. Has the menus changed since last year? No.. he obviously just didn't get off his lazy ass to go get other stuff.
  23. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) The Nevin deal is probably dead because Baltimore is one of 8 teams SD can't trade him to without his approval and his agent is suggesting it will take more money to get him to leave the West Coast. In 2002 he killed a deal to Cincy for Ken Griffey. With Nevin I don't think it's about $$. His entire family lives there. To some that's more important.
