QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Why is it different that Pauly said something vs Frank saying something? Why not rip on Frank for the samething? Where am I ripping Paul...?
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Haha. True, but I'm only making a big deal out of it because people act like Paul said something wrong. If he had said D'Angelo Jiminez was the best player I've ever played with that would be one thing, but he said Maggs, and that is true, and there is nothing wrong with telling everyone that. The only person it might affect is Frank, and it shouldn't, because deep down Frank has to know that Magglio was better from 99-04, though he wouldn't dare go out and say it out loud like Paul does. For the record I'm not making a big deal out of it.. just think, once again, it's funny that Paul is front and center calling another ex Sox player the "best he's played with". I'm sure Frank doesn't give a s*** what Paul says or thinks. And as for Maggs being better during that stretch.. nice numbers and production, but he isn't event close to being qualified to sniff Frank's jock if you want to compare #'s from Frank's most productive seasons.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) Konerko has never met a microphone he doesn't like, especially when he is playing decently. Amen!! Try to get a quote from him on an o-fer night and he's runs away like a little girl.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:51 AM) And Frank? And Frank what Mike..????
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) It's funny how people on message boards are the only ones making big deals about Paul's quotes. Nobody else is because nobody else cares. Pot, kettle, black.. :rolly

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) From the media point of view he is. Disagree. Plain and simple he's the one on the team with the biggest mouth - aside from Ozzie. That's the only reason they go to him.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) Beacuse Paul has been here the longest besides Frank for the most part, and Paul is the all-star/leader type of this team. He's the guy the media approaches. There is somebody like that on every team. It just so happens that he tells it like it is, and doesn't sugarcoat anything. That is simply hysterical...
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) I believe Paul qualified that remark about Clayton by using the word "shortstop". Apparently Paul was blowing smoke up Royce's ass.. "No offense to anybody I've played with, but when that guy's healthy and playing well, I've never played with anybody better," Konerko said. :rolly

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Ozzie has plenty of quotes in there too, that is in the Trib version where they printed the whole story. Of course he does. As he's said several times he wants the focus on him and his comments. Not his players.. Paul just can't help himself.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) Actually he pretty much did. PK also said this at the end of the article I'd agree no one else is talking about it. No one else cares.. no one else has quotes about maggs in the papers.. just Paul. :rolly

Anyone think Rowand is almost done with the Sox?

Hehe.. funny thread. -
I thought Royce was the best player he's ever played with...? I wish Paul would get a toothache and his mouth would swell shut.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) JR was a key leader in the 93 strike/hold out. Glavine I believe is the main leader for active players for the players union. I thought that was Schiling..??
-
Absolutely!! Heck.. most of the '98 to '00 seasons I went alone. Couldn't get anyone to go with me to most since I went to nearly every home game those years. LOL. Good time, too. You get to watch the game more when you don't have someone talking to you.

QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 03:21 PM) For tax purposes this is a charitable contribution for the the $10K less the fair value of the services provided. Seeing as JR does not do this for a living, there is $0 allocateed to him and they did not rent anything out nor is there a value for standing on the field so for this they get a $10K charitable contribution on their taxes. If they have money and were going to contribute to a charity anyway, what the hell. These things are all for White Sox charities correct? If they pay this and get some sort of reception, the fair market value of the reception is removed from the $10K. A % is deductable.. not the entire thing. The relief does not come close to justifying the expense. -

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) Shoot, our wedding (ceremony and reception for appx 200) will total out to about 12000 or so (if that much). 10K for what ammounts to an officiant and location is expensive. Ours was just over 10K. 10K just for JR and a location.. nuts. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) I am sure if they have 10k to waste on this, they aren't really worried about a downpayment for a house. From what I hear (and this is total rumor) they refinanced the home they already own together to do this. No effing way I would do this. No way.. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) I could have swore it included basically a reception in the stadium club. No, it doesn't. The package to have Jerry marry you does NOT include a reception. And DA, no, it's not old. They are the FIRST to marry ON the field by Jerry. There have been tons of weddings there this year (we went to one). But this is the first couple crazy enough to pay all that $$. -

They were on Channel 5 last night.. kinda weird couple, IMO. $10K JUST to have JR marry you... because that does NOT include a reception of any kind... is really, reallly not so bright. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) He's right... ...I've got it The pictures with you and dog are safe.. this happened the night of the superbowl party and you weren't even there.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Tell Brian to leave his Buehrle jersey at home. Pfftt.. are you nuts..?!?! You'll have to pry that thing from his cold dead hand.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) Not casual; Yankee and Red Sox fans. Red Sox fans far outnumbered White Sox fans at the last Boston series; I expect the same will happen now. Really.. so Yankee and Boston fans are coming in droves to watch us play Detroit and KC.. :headshake
