  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) Scott Reifert? Yep.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) By God, I'd bet on Garland over Hernandez. Does the expression "That was then, this is now" mean anything to you? "What have you done for me lately..." The Chicago White Sox Motto..
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) The subtitle to this thread should be, "Douse ex-teammate in urine" Sounds like something a Cub fan would say. :rolly

  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) 1. Oakland will fail to field a baseball team next year 2. Cleveland has been dominating the central for the last 5 years. 3. They build new comiskey on top of old comiskey OMG... Cant stop laughing.. !!
  6. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) From nbc5.com: Will County Declares Drought Emergency POSTED: 10:21 am CDT July 19, 2005 UPDATED: 11:06 am CDT July 19, 2005 JOLIET, Ill. -- The drought plaguing Illinois is forcing authorities in Will County to declare an agricultural emergency. A spokeswoman for county executive Lawrence Walsh said the declaration will allow the county to receive federal and state disaster funds if they become available. Spokeswoman Tammy Reiher said more than half of the county's farmers have lost at least 40 percent of their crops so far. And she said 20 percent of farmers report that 70 percent of their crops are a loss. Hmmm.. maybe I should stop watering my grass
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) Great points. That part about ASG appearances is funny, because that argument sounds like something a Cub fan would make. "Yeah, well how many ASGs has he been in? Thought so, he sucks." Perhaps to you, but if the guys own f***ing teammates & peers don't think he's worth enough s*** to vote him onto the midsummer classic roster.. I sure as hell don't think those who vote him into the hall will either. As for calling me a Cub fan because I have an opinion different of yours.. rather than to even bother to think that there are 2 sides to the coin and a possibility that he may not get in first ballot.. well.. that sounds like the stupid ass Cub fans that I know talking. And I never said he sucks, so don't put words in my mouth.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:45 PM)
  9. Guys.. this is going to be a ton of fun. I encourage anyone that can, to go. Brooks and Scott are working very hard to get it done. Huge kudo's to both of them!
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) May 31 it was sold out, but that was a day game. It was on Memorial Day against the Angels and Timo got the walk off two run single. May 31st was a Tuesday. But July 4th was sold out, IIRC.. Any non holiday Monday before this one sold out..?
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) It's difficult to say if it's true in the world of you and me because not many of us have companies throwing tons of cash at us and trying to outbid each other for our services. I think most people would take cash over loyalty. I think most would take security. A roof over their head and food in their bellies is more important in this day and age, IMO. Both good points with very valid arguments. Agree to disagree works for me.
  12. One of you creative guys should put Ross's face on that "Where's Waldo" guy..
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) It didn't, but it can. Just ask AJ. And Frank.. and Bonds (pre stupid racist comments and roid speculation).
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Palmiero will be a first ballot. On Bill James' HOF Monitor stat, Palmeiro scores a 156. This stat determines how likely it is a player will enter the hall of fame. A score of 100 means the players has a good chance to enter the Hall of Fame. A score of 130 means the player is a practically a shoe-in. With 156, Palmiero ranks 63rd amongst every batter to ever play the game and that number can only rise. Where's this monitor stat..? TIA.
  15. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) ..........as it is in every other industry, so why should/would it be any different in sports? With the astronomical salaries today, it's all about play, don't get hurt and get paid. By every other industry do you mean in the world of you and me..? If so, I don't agree. But in the sports world I definitely do which is what I meant above.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Ross Gload and Jeff Bajenaru slept with Ozzie's daughters. That has to be the reason. Ehem.. he doesn't have any daughters.
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) You make a good point and IMO you're not being a b****. Wherever Maggs plays there will be 30,000 people cheering him and paying his salary, so why would that make Chicago so frickin' special to him? "Special" went out if style with the Ripken era, IMO. The signing of ARod changed loyalty of players to teams and cities. It's all about the $$.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) No need to give names. People should just learn how to take words. If they don't want to believe you, then they don't believe you. No need to give them every detail. Next thing you know they're going to ask where you work. Agreed.
  19. Neither... I'd watch like I do every year the Sox aren't in it... Just another ball game.
  20. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Either way I see all these post about How Maggs is an ass, for doing the exact same thing we all would do.. Look he made a mistake to go public with his felling toward the Sox..and Ozzie didn't help the situation, with his comments.. And add to the fuel the media.. and wala we have a negative focus on this team that is not needed. Well.. I'm out of that as I don't care one way or the other about Maggs and where he's playing since it isn't with the Sox.
  21. Ummm... I thought this was about Paul's mouth.. not s***ting on Maggs for leaving.
  22. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) I don't think he's a first ballot HOF'er, but he's definitely within the first three years. The Hall of Fame shouldn't be about best player at his position for his era only. Sammy Sosa has more homers but significantly less hits. 3000/500 is what makes him a Hall of Famer, just like Eddie Murray should be a Hall of Famer. You can't punish a player for playing in hitter's parks, that's just not fair. And he's probably going to play for another couple of years and may make it to 3000/600? Would that make him a HOF'er? IMO, no. Like Yas said.. he's this................................................................... far from ever being named an MVP in addition to his teammates not naming him to the AS squad. I'm sure he'll get in.. I just don't think it should be first ballot. And YAS.. I agree on the roids issue as well.
  23. You should keep her then.. although I'm a sucker for kittens. Side note.. Derek Jeter is on my bag of David's Seeds.. :puke
