QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) Lemon Chill! My record is 7. Oh my.. My face puckers just thinking about them.. ick.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) In general, you're right, she doesn't play nearly as much. I'm referring to just how often she plays Nah Nah Hey Hey. It's still whenever an opposing pitcher gets roughed up and yanked and at the end of a Sox win. So let her do it right. Right.. they cut her short to play the pre-recorded crap.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) No, I didn't. Is this a BIG deal? This set up was too easy.. You've seen it.. is it...?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) At the risk of sounding like an old-timer, the Southside Hitmen and singing with Nancy are some of my best memories. Na-Na gets me every time. It is currently on rotation at my local oldies station and I have to turn it up every time it is played. It never gets old. Roof Shots. When Nancy retires, I believe it will be a sadder day then when any player hung it up. If the team pushes her out, it will be the biggest backlash ever. FWI'veH they are working out a new contract this year for 2 more years and then she may retire. I definitely think the Sox know it would be PR suicide to oust her.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) After 4 or 5 beers, it all begins to make sense. LOL... exactly

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) But it's not like they've cut her off completely. She still plays it just as often and at all the same times, it's just not as loud or for as long. She'll give you one, very quiet verse. I remember it used to go on and on and on. Either let her do it right, or not at all. She does not play nearly as much as she did 3-4 years ago. Not even close.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) Have you guys started pumping water out of the lake yet? BTW, my lawn is still green. Mostly because it's 60% weeds. We didn't.. but 3 people have I did change the sprinkler configuration though. Now they are set to just hit the trees, plants and bushes - which is allowed. Apparently we're supposed to get a storm this afternoon and possibly overnight which will be nice.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) I totally agree. Some of the younger fans don't even know the tradition or the song. Do you think they've toned it down because nowadays sports in general has more of a 'no taunting' attitude. With all the thugs playing pro sports and all the fans wanting to jump into the arenas, maybe that's why. I think they don't play it much anymore because they've gone more in the direction of pre-recorded music - which IMO sucks.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) Experience does matter in the playoffs. Player by player we lose to the Yankees and Red Sox Teamwork and the "little things" will make a difference. Ozzie managing the pen in the playoffs has me thinking Grady Little Couldn't agree more.. The Yanks can play together with their eyes closed.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) I completely agree. I guess it's just a lifetime of getting my baseball hopes stomped on that makes me absolutely scared to death of playing teams like the Red Sox and Yankees. No matter how many games we win, if John Garland is pitching with a one-run lead to ARod in the playoffs, I will fear the worst. We definitely should all be fearing them. We play the Yanks well during the regular season.. but as they have showed the world they become super human in the playoffs. Boston.. I'm not sure how "scared" of them I am yet. They are still high from last year... the Yanks have a hunger about them. And with a boss like GS whipping their asses in the press every chance he gets... embarassment for those guys seems to be a pretty good motivator. One day at a time though. It's way to early to be stressing about the playoffs yet.

Killa is way better at them than I am. The only reason anyone notices me is cause he doesn't post as much anymore. But thinking here.. Brando, oh Brando... he could reduce a grown man to tears with his words.. Ahh.. memories..

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) Yes Steff I know ... that is the main reason I did not quote your post directly. My reaction is more this, I think lots of people on this board, and many White Sox fans in general, take what these guys say too seriously. I am not suggesting most of the player quotes are given tongue in cheek but I am suggesting they can easily be taken out of context and then broad brush impressions of players occur. Everyone will have their opinions on certain players and that is great. I think though that many Sox fans and probably sports fans in general put a halo or devils horn on an athlete's head for reasons other than their on field performance. If a guy is a menace to society that is one thing ... but off hand quotes, etc. - that stuff happens every day in pro sports and I tend to dismiss a lot of it. I see it a lot on this website ... every quote from a player is interpreted to fit the posters preconceived notion of that player. We saw this with Frank for how many years, the guy would make a seemingly innocent remark and all the Sigmund Freud Sox Fans would interpret it that he was being a baby, whiner, etc. So that's where I was coming from. Gotcha. I specifically went out of my way not to comment on Paul on the field. It's obvious he's an asset there. I see your point though.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Who cares how he is away from the ballpark? The chemistry down there is excellent by all accounts, Konerko is in the lineup every day so he's obviously a bit part of it. That should be good enough for us fans, but apparantly it isn't. A comment was made about his off field stuff.. I just responded to it.
-
QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) I didn't want to bring it up, as it probaly shouldn't be. I just don't understand why people say this guy is a team leader, even though what he has done off the field shows otherwise. Who knows. What I know is I was once blinded by that act. He's a way different person away from the yard.
-
QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) your taking all those quotes out of context.....your taking the views of the people at this site on what they really meant See what I mean.. :rolly

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) You mean you don't remember when he called out Frank Thomas, the best baseball player this city has ever seen? Or just last month when he bashed Juan Uribe? Might as well let it go.. It's simply not worth it.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) My response wasn't directed towards you. I was writing about what Fotop said his main gripe was. Whoops.. sorry.

I hope the Twins just completely fall apart and they clinch at home the week of the 6th. Against the Angels would be nice, too. Maybe we can sweep their rears and nock them out of winning their division at the same time.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Woah, it seems like you're overreacting here. I was pretty much just kidding. Of course you were.
-
QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) I understand your gripe. But I've never had the chance to watch enough baseball outside of the White Sox (and Cubs if I chose for some reason) to make a valid decision. Watching him play about 10 games per year doesn't really allow me to decipher wether I'm watching a HOF'er or not. Statistics do. Just looking at players who have HOF monitor scores around Palmiero's are all in the Hall. I'm not saying this is the end all be all. It gives me a good idea of when he will be enlisted though. It's not a gripe.. it's simply an opinion backed by the opinions of guys who have watched him play hundreds of games.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) I'd rather have Buerhle in that situation, but given the choice between Garland and Hernandez ... Jon gets the baseball. OK.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) Hell Steff, Garland's been a stud this year and hernandez has been ... ummm .. something less. El Duque has proven himself as big game pitcher, without a doubt, but I'd still prefer Jon in a must win situation. Ummm... OK.
