QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) It will stay that way until we make some post season noise. Even with that we will not sell out in April like the northsiders do. We just won't. People spring break here to take their kids to Cubs games.. until they rip down that death trap that some view as a shrine they will continue to get all the out of town business. Personally.. I don't care. I like it not so busy..

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) Consider the source. :rolly No kidding. This one acts like everything raised and those that perform the services continued to work at 1955 wages.. :rolly

Games in April for as long as I can remember have not sold well. It's just the way it is.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) Alright i haven't read the whole thread, so maybe it's in there...but why are these games day games this week (besides opening day)? Seems logical to think that no one will show up, everyone's at work or school. So i wasn't surprised the attendance yesterday was not very high (even though the park literally looked empty when they first showed the stands). If it was a night game, the numbers probably would increase, right? There's probably something obvious i'm missing here, so feel free to point it out. Because historically it's too cold, and usually raining here at night this time of the year. It's been like this forever..

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) No I look at it as we Lucked out to win that one.. WE should have lost that one. as far as yesterdays game. Always a way to say something negative.. That's a s***ty coin you got there.. IMO.

I went on that interview yesterday.. interesting at the very least. The job is very appealing at first glance.. then I started asking some detailed questions.. The main objective of this job is to completely revamp the reporting style of the division.. the style they have been using for 13 years - which has been working. Previous to Emerson buying them (9 months ago) they tried to do things differently and failed miserably. I went through something like that here... it didn't work.. and we spent 7 months going back to the old way and fixing all the screw ups from the change. I wasn't driving that change so I slipped under the radar and just spent most of the time fixing others mistakes. But in this position I would be completely responsible for the change... and it's failure. I asked the woman that interviewed me.. after looking at the current format and a "vision" of the new format if she thought it was a good idea.. immediately she said no. So fo course my next question is "then why not voice that opinion"... she really didn't have an answer - which I found extremely disturbing. I'm way over-qualified for the job. It's basically an entry level position with much less involvement in financial and treasury duties (both of which I enjoy at this job), but would afford me a lot more time to focus on analysis stuff and less stress dealing with Agents (a huge plus). Overall.. the reduction in assignments I think would drive me nuts. I'm way busy here.. and sometimes I hate that because it's projects that the CFO and Controller should be doing.. but I would have as many posts as Jason and Mike if I didn't have those dutes.. I got 13 calls from posting my resume, and 3 more interviews set up for next week. I'm gonna pass on this one. It seems to me they are just looking for a "fall guy" to come in, do all this work, fail, then fire for waisting time.. when they know from the get go that it's not going to work. Strange way to do business.. especially for the $ they are paying.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) Or a new owner Until the owner puts on a uniform and has an impact between the lines I don't care if Scooby Doo is the owner.. and IMO it's stupid when people use that as an excuse to not go.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) No, Its looking at both sides of the coin.. Yeah I am a sox fan, but I don't close my eyes to see what the truth is.. Most do, they let their Loyaity cloud the truth. I don't think after a winner most say.. "wow.. they could have lost that one". The fact is they won, and the Indians lost. Only 1 side to that coin. IMO, of course..

So.. umm.. I just read his Will... I'm 31 and mine is nearly 3 pages.. his is only 3 paragraphs... is that all of it or just all they released?

What's the deal with him not being embalmed..? I've heard conflicting stories about that having something to do with him being granted sainthood..

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Did you catch the thing about Buerhle leaving the dugout to go to a suite during the game? Was this something everyone but me knew about? Anyone else know any details about it? BTW Mariotti sucks. It'll be interesting to see if he gets his radio job back from WMVP if the Sox jump to the Score. If he did it.. apparently it wasn't a big deal to his manager - who is all that matters in that situation - and not news.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) And Cle was close to 2 wins. But they lost... Why say Cleveland almost won versus the Sox held them off...? Always the negative with you.

http://www.nypost.com/gossip/44048.htm JENNA IN DIRTY DISCO DANCE Email Archives Print Reprint View PageSix on one page April 7, 2005 -- VIDEOTAPE of Jenna Bush in very high spirits at a bachelorette party is being sold and could end up on national TV by the end of the week. Luckily for Jenna, the cameraman missed "the high point . . . Jenna on all fours doing 'the butt dance' — and doing it very well — as guys were ogling her thong," said our source. Club patrons do the suggestive dance when the deejay plays the 1988 hit "Da Butt," by E.U. The president's blond daughter arrived at NerveAna, a '90s-themed lounge on Varick Street, at 10:30 p.m. last Friday with several other pretty young things in a battered old blue minivan. Sources said it was Jenna's third visit to the club, which features replicas of Monica Lewinsky's blue dress and O.J. Simpson's white Bronco. Jenna, who plans to teach school in D.C. next fall, wore jeans, moccasin boots and a midriff-baring, satiny blue top. She lit up a cigarette "and she was very polite when she was told she'd have to go outside to smoke," said our source. Before leaving at 3:30 a.m., Jenna and her pals gamely joined a conga line and danced around the club. Good grief.. it's likely that there were 5,402 other bachelorette parties in NY that night.. all of which were much worse in their entertainment "activities" yet this girl dances a bit raunchy and it makes the newspapers... :headshake

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) How about if I would have substituted "pain in the ass" with "b****?" That would have been acceptable in this situation... It's when it comes from the stupid ass ignorant, spitefull, little s***s of the world that females usually take offense.. or laugh depending on the stupidity of the speaker.

QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 08:37 AM) For those of us who make the $12,000 investment in season tickets, we do not get a break, but you bring a good point, I will sell them at 15 apiece. i take it since you took the time to point this out that you are interested? Thought so.. Well aren't we in a good mood this morning..
-
QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) Not trying to be a jerk, but how are those seats 30 bucks apiece? Isn't that a 1/2 price Monday? I looked up tickets for the 18th, and 2 in section 118 were selling for 15 bucks each. Season tickets are not discounted because we get a discount over the entire season.

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) Oh, and Steff, you're such a pain in the ass sometimes. No need for green there...

They are reading/releasing his will today... Also.. live coverage will start at 3am tomorrow morning for those that are interested in watching it. Also.. QP.. I sent an announcement over there in February and yesterday got a response - a very nice card which appears to be hand signed by PJP wishing us well, etc.. and a very nice blessing. I had been told by people to do that and never expected anything back but I guess they do respond to all that send. Very cool item for the scrap book.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 06:59 AM) Lucky or not, she just got herself some free publicity! Think she'll ride this "phenomenon" for a while? That's the truth... Weird that she said he was "submerged" though.. Any idea if there are other areas of water around where she found him..?
