  1. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) As you can see it's still a little early to judge this draft. In particular you have very raw talent like Brandon Allen who is just now finding his way in Low Class A and is showing promise. Egbert and Adam Russell have also shown promise but haven't made it yet. Gio Gonzalez is in there, but there are some others who are clear misses. I wonder who urged the 36th pick...
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 11:03 AM) She should spend a non-trivial amount of time behind bars for this one, given that it's a repeat offense and it's not just a DUI but also possession. And apparently also speeding, wreckless driving, resisting arrest, and she also apparently had made threats to her former assistant which is what started all the drama a few hours earlier. 180 days in county might be a nice wake up call - though realistically she'll get more like 90 probably.
  3. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) So was she able to just get out of her car, call a cab, and check herself into a hospital again? I mean, thats how she got out of her first DUI, she might as well try again..... No. She was arrested and held in custody. After her arraignment this morning her attorney bailed her out and took her to another rehab.
  4. QUOTE(heirdog @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) Not sure that building a bullpen of power arms and having anemic drafts are the same argument in terms of "manning up" to the poor season. Granted Kenny's plan for the bullpen backfired but most of the recent trades seem to have worked out in the Sox favor. I remember a few months ago that Kenny said that his recent plan is not working but that was because he was trying to win now and retool a farm system that sucked (mostly due to weak drafts...and that is why he put the scouting dept on notice). So, Kenny's error was trying to fix two things at once and not really addressing either fully. So what he hoped was that he could retool the pitching and leave the position players status quo and hope the either produce more or continue to produce...neither has really happened. That doesn't excuse the poor drafts, which in the end fall on the scouting dept...if Kenny had options, he may not have had to try and retool the farm system and just focused on the present. They aren't. Which is my point. We do seem to be agreeing on the overall. I just like to lay more blame on Kenny.
  5. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 10:02 AM) I remember when everyone was pretty excited about Luis Terrerro You should have seen the crowd the night he got his first hit. You would have swore he had just hit at walk off hr to give us the WS victory.
  6. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 09:46 AM) I wonder how this will affect Dina Lohan's (alleged) tv deal with E! Hopefully it will die and that mother will not be able to ruin the other daughter or the son any more than she already has.
  7. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 09:51 AM) Or her friends? What kind of friends does she have, when one can't step up and say...don't drive. I don't think people like them have "real" friends.
  8. QUOTE(heirdog @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) Does Kenny hide behind doors? Definitely not Months ago Kenny openly put Duane on notice attempting to blame him for the complete state of s***tiness rather then man up and admit what anyone who's watched baseball for more than 5 minutes knew. Only yesterday did Kenny FINALLY admit his plan backfired. He definitely hid until he could hide no more.
  9. Wow... Per a Stern PC "The NBA was warned about "issues" as early as Jan '05".
  10. 2 more HR's last night. 16 on the season. 50 rbi's.
  11. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 09:03 AM) I noticed that as well. Aside from the "chuckling" remark, his response quoted in the trib was very professional. That was refreshing to see. After only 3 years of hounding him to keep his yap shut he's finally getting it..
  12. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) I would choose Larry Himes over KW as a GM and it's not particularly close. I remember reading that Himes lacked "people skills" but he was the best talent evaluator (or at least hired best talent evaluators) of any Sox GM that I've seen. Speaking of which, Shaffer was the guy that scouted Jack McDowell IIRC. So, I gather the consensus among those that know the Sox organization is that Williams is a jackass that needs to be canned? If it mean Hahn gets to be GM, I'm OK with that... Kenny hates - and that's putting it nicely - Himes. One positive about all this is that Kenny kept his mouth and didn't erupt in the media. Rick has been the dream GM for many for years. I'm fine with that also.
  13. I think she's trying to out do her daddy as well. Such a shame. All this girl has and she chooses to make such s***ty decisions. Her parents should have their other two minors taken from them as it's apparent they are not fit to raise children.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 07:43 AM) If anyone doesn't think KW is/was using DS as a scapegoat for this pitiful season, you're fooling yourselves. I'm sure there's some sour grapes as far as DS is concerned, but for KW to laugh about him, when he put together a team in last place with a $100 million + payroll, shows just how smug KW is. He should be worried about the mess he has created, yet he's so comfortable with his "genius" that he laughs at 35 year employees who are out of jobs. I believe in the end you get what's coming to you, and eventually KW will be humbled. It will take a lot because obviously this season has done nothing to shrink his huge head. Oh it's not at all surprising. 2 weeks ago Kenny was a mf'er and this was all his fault. The wind will change direction again soon.
  15. Surprise, surprise.. another Sox employee who has/had issue with Kenny. It's to bad that Kenny is able to continue to hide behind doors about this stuff. Personally, I can't wait till he is canned and all the real dirt is shaken out of the executive rugs. Kudos to Duane for comparing Kenny to Larry Himes. I'm sure Kenny flipped a few tables after reading that one.
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) Is Juddling married to Alpha, or something? IIRC, brothers.
  17. QUOTE(ChiSox1323 @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) i know the guy was from england but how does a 30-40 year old guy not know how to throw a baseball? that part where minnie minoso was teaching him how to throw was pretty sad. Baseball is maybe about 300th on the list of popular sports across the pond.
  18. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 10:54 AM) That is also Juddling posting under my name! Check the screen first Juddling! Anyway, I had mentioned to him that the 'needing notice from the employer that she quit' is bull. She can withdraw the money even if she was still employed if she wanted to, albeit pay fees, etc. I don't know what kind of 401K you have dealt with, but in every one I have dealt with you can not remove funds without employer notification. For a loan or to close it. The employer manages the funds, not the 401K group. The only option the employee has that doesn't involve the employer is investment allocation.
  19. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 10:42 AM) My wife quit her job last week (her last day being a payday Friday.) and now is trying to access her 401 K money. She called the 401K people this morning and she was told that they need authorization from her company that she no longer works for them. Her company said they automatically send that info out but it wouldn't be sent till August 3rd (the next payday). My thinking is that this is her money, she's earned it and even if she was still with the company and wanted to close the 401k she sould be able to right away not wait at least 2 weeks. I understand it isn't an instant thing and all but we were hoping to get the money (minus any penalty, taxes, etc.) to get her a car for her new job. Anyone know if her company is just being a pain in the ass or is that how the rules are set up. It just doesn't seem right to me but i wouldn't know where to check on them one way or the other. Any help is (as usual) appreciated. That's standard proceedure.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) So going back to 1990 the Sox have spent a grand total of 28 days alone in last place from May 1st or later. Kalapse you are the stat man..
  21. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) Wow. When was the last time we were in last place? I cannot even remember. Not since the '90's began so my guess would be '88 or '89. Ugh,.. ugly memories from that time.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 03:34 PM) steff always loved Willie too.... LOL.. Oh yea.. In all seriousness, I didn't mind Willie as much as I acted. I liked him a lot more after the Detroit trip. His main issue was his attitude. His constant sulking when he was in a slump and he made sure everyone knew about it, rather than spending more time in the cages, etc. He had the "Brandon attitude" while he was here and that was a shame. His clubhouse actions were well documentated while he was here. When he had a good day, he was sure to tell everyone and their brothers, uncles, cousins, hairdresser about it. And when he had a bad day he blamed it on everyone else. He didn't have too many friends downstairs.
  23. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 11:24 AM) pretty cool, food sure tastes better than the stuff that comes out of the bards room and chef roy rivas. No kidding. I have NEVER had a good meal up there.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 09:50 AM) This is very insane and if it gets any wider could certainly effect the integrity of the game. Oh.. if I were you I'd consider the integrity of the game just about gone.
