I was told the deal on the table was 3 years/20 million. However only $12 million was guaranteed - that's $4 million a year. The rest was all incentive based. And Ray and his agent were the ones who suggested that. He was not out to double his pay unless he earned it. Interesting concept there, eh?

Ray really wanted to stay here. I can not stress the "reeeeeaaallllyyyy" enough. And we sure could have gotten Colon. People.. we are not even close to pushing the payroll envelope. We could afford a LOT more than we currently have. The Sox could have paid Ray $10 million a year, gotten Colon, AND left Frank's salary alone and there'd still be $$ left over.

The voters for these awards are rather credible. Writers, directors, producers, editors, etc.. Few members are actors and the ones that are are older than dirt, that I remember. I used to have a list of who they were, but naturally I can't find anything when I need it lately. Not the same type of idiots. They at least have brains.
