  1. You posted some of the ones I was gonna!!!
  2. As much as I hate to say it... At least the Cub fans have room to talk about being loyal fans, and attendance. They will show up even when they lose. Indians fans have ended up just being full of it. "loyal fans"... More like yuppies being raped on ticket prices to be "seen" there. I have a friend who is a season ticket holder.. he is forever getting calls offering him insane amounts of money for tickets. The normal course of the call.. "What do you got? What do you want? Doesn't matter.. just going to get drunk anyway."
  3. http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk A ton more here.. I would post them.. but I don't know how. Copy and paste doesn't seem to work..?

You're welcome cw. I'll add that I agree with mooch and don't agree with the action or the reasoning behind it. But you gotta admit.. political views aside, they have got to be two of the most annoying people on the face of the earth

Definitely. Not to mention.. I think the only reason he got a job with the Cubs is to irritate Sox fans if he does well. I didn't hear anything about anyone else offering him anything. But a great guy indeed.

Sorry if this was posted already.. Stung by anti-war criticism, Hall cancels `Bull Durham' festivities BEN WALKER, AP Baseball Writer Wednesday, April 9, 2003 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (04-09) 22:56 PDT NEW YORK (AP) -- The baseball Hall of Fame has canceled a 15th anniversary celebration of the film "Bull Durham," and the shrine's president said it was because of anti-war criticism by co-stars Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon. Hall president Dale Petroskey sent a letter to Robbins and Sarandon this week, telling them the festivities April 26-27 at Cooperstown, N.Y., had been called off. Petroskey, a former White House assistant press secretary under Ronald Reagan, said recent comments by the actors "ultimately could put our troops in even more danger." Reached Wednesday night, Robbins said he was "dismayed" by the decision. He responded with a letter he planned to send to Petroskey, telling him: "You belong with the cowards and ideologues in a hall of infamy and shame." The weekend affair, planned months ago, also was to feature "Bull Durham" actor Robert Wuhl and Ron Shelton, who wrote and directed the 1988 film. Instead of commemorating the movie, the Hall canceled the celebration in a letter Tuesday sent to the scheduled participants. "In a free country such as ours, every American has the right to his or her own opinions, and to express them. Public figures, such as you, have platforms much larger than the average American's, which provides you an extraordinary opportunity to have your views heard -- and an equally large obligation to act and speak responsibly," Petroskey wrote. "We believe your very public criticism of President Bush at this important -- and sensitive -- time in our nation's history helps undermine the U.S. position, which ultimately could put our troops in even more danger. As an institution, we stand behind our President and our troops in this conflict." Robbins and Sarandon, his longtime partner, have been active in peace rallies to protest the war in Iraq. In his letter, Robbins said he'd been looking forward to "a weekend away from politics and war." He said he remained "skeptical" of the war plans and told Petroskey he did not realize baseball was "a Republican sport." "I am sorry that you have chosen to use baseball and your position at the Hall of Fame to make a political statement," Robbins wrote. "I know there are many baseball fans that disagree with you, and even more that will react with disgust to realize baseball is being politicized. "To suggest that my criticism of the President put the troops in danger is absurd. ... I wish you had, in your letter, saved me the rhetoric and talked honestly about your ties to the Bush and Reagan administrations. "You invoke patriotism and use words like 'freedom' in an attempt to intimidate and bully. In doing so, you dishonor the words 'patriotism' and 'freedom' and dishonor the men and women who have fought wars to keep this nation a place where one can freely express their opinions without fear of reprisal or punishment." Robbins signed his letter with a reference to an old World Series champion. "Long live democracy, free speech and the '69 Mets -- all improbable, glorious miracles that I have always believed in," he wrote.

I dunno.. average family has 8 children there. If the father is out partying.. and the mom is home with the kiddo's.... Not to mention most of the g'ment workers hitailed it outta there. All of "upper class" downtown was a desert (no pun intended) when they rolled in there Monday morning. All Saddams troopers likely went north as well (approx 750K?) Makes a bit of sense to me. And since I'm getting this info first hand from my uncle who is there.. I'm going to lean on his word.

So are you saying Frank Thomas is nothing but mistake hitter now? So now poor, 10-million-a-year baby didn't get his steady diet of hanging curves and 88mph fastballs down the pipe? Oh, shawks...I can understand this reasoning when talking about classic mistake hitters like Jose Valentin or Jeff Leifer, but Frank? I guess noone is ready to comment on his batspeed...oh well. Frank doesn't make $10 million a year.

He always played good with the Sox, therefor I believe he'd be doing the same here. He never sucked and I don't care what some people believe, he was one of the best leadoff hitters and second baseman the White Sox ever had and Jimenez is going to have a tough job replacing him. I believe he has the tools and ability to replace him, but whether he lives up to that who knows. It was one of the big reasons I wanted to bring him back this offseason. You knew Ray would put up a .355 or great OBP, steal bases and score 100 runs. We just got so used to it that so many people took it for granted thinking that everyone can do that and its not the case. The Sox were lucky to have such a great leadoff hitter. Yes, he could of been better, but he was damn good as is. I'm in !!!
