All that praying has finally paid off!! -
No, I don't. He just doesn't get on my nerves and I don't hate him, that's all. (See: Steff and D'angelo Jimenez). I see you're busy putting words in my mouth.

carlos has been having a monster year for the past three years now.. i wish to hell he would hurry up and have it already........im sick of waiting on it............ LOL... Coffee all over my monitor!

I'm with you. Everytime I get into something good.. a special news report breaks in. Aren't there enough 24/7 news channels that people can tune into if they want to watch.. ?

Too late...Bush has done a very poor job getting support for this war. Now not only do we have the Middle East pissed off at us, but also most of Europe. Last I heard public opinion was up in the 70% approval rating for Bush. Likewise, Tony Blair is enjoying his highest approval poll results in 5 years.

. Because as we all know Ray has had many a 150 RBI season St. Ray of Durham indeed. DJ is not a nice guy? What a shock...As long as he doesn't mess with kids or abuse women, I couldn't give a s*** about off-field. true i could give a s*** what he does in the off time.. but if hes a distraction in the clubhouse and everyone wants to knock his lights out that hardly makes a good team atmosphere..... i would rather he be gone than cause that.................mho......... Thanks HSC.. I tried to make this point. Perhaps there's a little comprehension issue.....

From his mouth to my ears baggs. But like all clubhouse problems, it'll come out soon enough. And when Baltimore rolls into town we can all get together and you can hear it from another player who's known him a few years and can tell you all kinds of wonderful things about him and his s***ty attitude. He's said many not so nice things about many people. His "my s*** don't stink" attitude is unreal. As for the booing.. during ST he was booed. As a result he told a group of kids to shut up. Definitely a class act. So his trashing of Durham is all hearsay ? No.. it's from his mouth to my ears. Believe it or don't. No sweat. But if you get close enough to him.. ask him what he said about Ray on the 11th tee at Star pass the afternoon after he got so drunk on Tequila shots he pissed in the middle of the parking lot at the taco bell. His response was in reaction to the question... "why are you wearing #5, I thought you had picked #2?"

It's nice to "make friends".. but it doesn't cloud judgement when it comes to winning the game. Ray was definitely NOT the best lead-off hitter, nor the best second basemen.. but he wasn't the worst either. Ray's accomplishments in seven years can NOT be compared to those of someone who's been on the roster.. what.. a month? Sorry I got off track, but that was my point. If he goes out there.. bats .300, hits in 30 hr's and 150 rbi's I'll LOVE him as a player. As a person.. no thanks. I've been a fan of this team long enough to know what's important. Unfortunate for him.. attitude IS important. Which is why he will likely not go very far.

Are ya busy working on those smileys...

Klassy. Cutting-edge sports analysis. The only difference is I actually supported my viewpoint and addressed what others wrote specifically. Sorry if I don't think much of your "Jimenez sucks, Ray is God" cheerleading, babe. Now Brando fan.. can you please quote where I said such a thing..? And where did I NOT support MY viewpoint..? I made my point. He's NOT the caliber player Ray is. I said I'll give him 50 or 60 more games before I make an assesment about his play. On a personal note.. he's a little s*** who I don't care for on a personal level. So.. again, where did I NOT support MY viewpoint?

There isn't one. You have to buy it additional. With the All American it's $5.99. I don't know what it is with the others. I'm sure the info is on DishNetwork.Com though.

Really...? I watched the Sox game yesterday. As well as several other games. I had no black out issues. Maybe it's cause I have the All American package? Who knows. All I know is they are on, and that's all that matters. You can watch the games on Fox Sports Chicago because your in that market. Bighurt I'm assuming is outside the market. I'm assuming steff if you try watching the Dodger game on Fox Sports West then you'd be blocked out as well. I just have Digital Cable through Cox and picked up the baseball package through there. If it was easy to put up a dish where I live I probably would, but its a royal pain to do so. I'm going to check that tonight - hopefully there are games on.

Hey Brando fan.. your novel was making me sleepy. But I'll send the same sentiments back to you.... don't like what I write, don't read it.

Luckily I didn't deal with it whan I was a kid. And those I have become friends with I am able to go visit them in the offseason or even during the season now. It's definitely up'd my frequent flyer miles total in the past 4 years , not to mention got me WS and All Star tickets the past 3 years . And it's almost kinda nice to go to another city. I've seen almost every park thanks to player trades. Just sucks, especially the ones with families that you get to know, when they aren't in the same city anymore.

That said, I think Jiminez will develop into a solid player and I do not mind that D'Angelo is playing in place of Durham. Unfortunately, I do have an issue with it. The kid has never even met Ray and he's talked crap about him. He's a arrogant little s***. He's got a long way to go before I bother to even watch an at bat. I'm hoping he's gone before I have to start paying attention to his stats. But first and foremost is the success of the Sox. And unfortunately I don't see him contributing much in the long term. JMO though..
-
Exactly right, too. I wanted to like him as a player more than I did but he certainly did not deserve ever to be trashed. I never understood people who got on his case. He gave us some great moments and he deserves our appreciation. That said, I think Jiminez will develop into a solid player and I do not mind that D'Angelo is playing in place of Durham. I know what it is like to be friends with a player who gets traded. When Earl Averill, Jr. was traded away by the Sox, and moved away, he took with him his son and my childhood best friend. EA III. And being an off season trade I never even got a chance to say goodbye. Ugh! I feel your pain about when they are traded in the offseason. When Cam was traded (while at winter ball at the request of the Sox) and found out about it on the ESPN ticker, that was the last straw for me. I was so pissed about that, as was he since his fiance and kid were still living here in Chicago. Luckily I've gotten to see him and the family since - but it's not the same when they aren't playing here. And even with the 100+ K's, Mike had 2 good years after his soph slump (I don't know how he's started this year so far..). This orginization has such class . You'd think after all these years I'd stop expecting them to not be so s***ty..

Nobody said he sucked. I didn't say anyone did.

I know I've mentioned this before.. but I have Dish Network. For $5.99 extra a month I got ALL the FSN channels (NY, Cincy, Boston, AZ, SF, Florida, Chicago, Texas, Ohio, Seattle, Colorado, St Louis, and one more that I can't remember since there are 13) and 4 additional ESPN's that don't block out the games (example was the Cubs game the other day as I was shocked it was on and not blocked). You do have to buy the largest package they offer (the All American which is $99.99 a month for 230+ channels and 4 receivers - two with PVR's) but well worth it when I hear about the packages some others have paid for the $39.99 monthly Direct TV and then the additional $ for the baseball games. If you guys aren't in contracts with Direct TV maybe check out Dish Network. They are running a ton of promotional specials right now. Oh.. also, the local channels are included in the $99.99 a month fee.

I doubt MJ would come back here in ANY capasity. He's an owner right now. He isn't going to give that up. There's about as much chance of that happening as Fisk being named the next Mgr of the Sox..

The crux of my argument to those jocking Ray Durham after 6+ seasons in a White Sox uni and those trashing a guy after 6 games in a White Sox uni. Thanks cw. How about the argument comparing the two with the same time frame you mentioned..? I don't think it's a secret that I like Ray.. and like him a lot. His family has been personal friends of mine and my family for 7 years. That's where my loyalty lies. On a professional level, he was a solid lead off hitter and is in the top 20 of second baseman. He had issues, yes. But he did not suck. Right now, there is no comparison.

"Zach Kirk was sitting in the right-field stands with his girlfriend Friday night when Sosa hit a seventh-inning homer that deflected off several sets of hands and came to rest at his feet. Kirk, 22, of St. Louis, is a Cardinals fan and thought about how a member of the grounds crew returned Mark McGwire's 62nd home run ball to him after he broke the single-season record in 1998. "It crossed my mind to give it back," Kirk said Sunday. "At the same time, I'm 22 and a senior in college. It could be a blessing. "I'm going to keep it and try to sell it."

Wow.. I just can't see it. That sweet little thing with that quiet soft voice.. He's going to get stomped on. He's too nice.
