  1. You know, when they scored the third run to go up ahead 3-2 I tried to be positive but all I could think was: we're done. We don't score more than two runs. And both... natch... were homers. I'm at a loss folks. I've been through the small ball years (loved it), through the feast or famine years (hated it) but this is just flat-out famine. Don't know what to do, but I think a change is in order.
  2. LMAO. I like the White Sox Loser idea. At least we'd have something to pay attention to during these games.
  3. Um, we haven't exactly been chewing it up even with Thome in the lineup so enough of the "It's because Thome's out!" arguments.
  4. Please tell me we're not going to lose another one because our pitcher gave up 3 runs and we couldn't even score that many? Please. BTW what's with the mentions of the '67 season that Hawk keeps yammering about? Was that when it was a tight four-team race?
  5. What are you guys all fretting about? If Thome goes down, we can always dial up our favorite dinosaur-denying superhero: Jurassic Carl. Mmmm. I feel better already! Seriously though: I'm not going to jump off the ledge if Thome goes on the DL for a while--if our team is sunk because one guy is out, then our team sucks. And I don't think that's the case.
  6. It's so weird seeing Gload in a KC uniform, no?
  7. Paulie, when he's on, has one of the most beautiful swings.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 06:16 PM) Lets see how we do against the Royals, who have played us tough and have cost us in the past before we talk about the Twinks. The twins and the Tigers last year have made a history of beating bad teams, and playing decent against good teams. The key to this year is beating teams like the Royals. If we play like we did against the Tigers this weekend against good teams, and roll the bad teams we are gong to the playoffs. If we struggle against bad teams this year, its going to be tough. The royals are a better barometer of how we have progressed. Our killer instinct against bad teams has be poor. As far as Aardsma today. How he got beat, thats okay to me If you get beat on a fastball or pitching to a hitter. Tip your cap. If you get beat by walking a bunch of people and then giving it up. Then you feel like you got punched in the stomach. With our pitching we should have the twinks record if not better. WINNAH! Yup, I couldn't agree more. Aardsma got beat challenging a batter. It happens. He was on fire until that pitch. And you're right about beating the "bad" teams, which was our bread & butter in '05. We'd struggle against NYY or Boston or Oakland but we'd mow down our division. I'm not about to slit my wrists over a tough loss today. Garland pitched great, we came back from not only three runs down in the first, we took the lead and had it in the bag until The Mistake. We took the series, which in the end is always a win to me. Something else we were also good at in '05.
  9. Did Hawk just say what I thought he said?
  10. Remember back in the old days when Garland pitched an awesome game and we were one out from victory?
  11. What is this a pop up contest?
  12. Yikes I don't have a good feeling about this.
  13. My eyes hurt just watching this.
  14. OUch again. This went from surefire win to nightmare, quick.
  15. Wow didn't think that was gonna happen. Oh well, as AJ says, "We'll just have to break their hearts again..."
  16. Is Brian in left? Oh wait: they're having him bring balls out to the umpire...
  17. Garland is just killin today. It's nice to see our pitchers in 2005 form so far this year. Yes!
  18. Yeah baby way to pitch him inside like that.
