  1. On a side note to what somebody said before, SURE I'd take Blackjack and Deejay in the booth all the time. DJ is like a free man when Hawk's not in the booth with him. I like this combo. BJ and DJ! And BJ tends to give a lot of really cool insights. Sigh. We can wish, can't we?
  2. Garland! Yes! Chews up 7 with no score. Talk about QUALITY start.
  3. Okay now that drop looked totally like the WS game versus Houston!
  4. Okay now that drop looked totally like the WS game versus Houston!
  5. DAMN! Garland's putting together his own ESPN highlight reel! Nice catch!
  6. Garland is looking SHARP these days. And these games are looking awfully... 2005.

The bottom line is that if you don't own your building, you're at the mercy of the landlord. I knew Jimbo was history the moment this came up. I'm surprised they made it this long. Oh well: Mithchell's here we come!
  8. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Definitely. It's like the line-up just quits against Santana and Sabbathia. Maybe Ozzie will try something really unconventional next time: the gindz0rs line-up: no boppers, go something ridiculous like: Pods Erstad (1B) Iguchi AJ Mackowiak (RF) Crede Ozuna (DH) Uribe Anderson It cannot be any worse than the last 5 or 10 outings we've seen against those two. I like this idea.
  9. THAT IS THE COLDEST I HAVE EVER BEEN AT A SOX GAME IN MY LIFE. I still can't feel my hands. Great win, though. And NICE pitching.
  10. Ironically it's colder right now than it was last night had they played the game. It is chilly, 20s. But who cares! I'm goin anyway!
  11. Call me an optimist but I'm looking forward to Javy. He's always, IMO, been this/close to tweaking that one thing that will make him awesome. He has great stuff. If Javy has a great year, I'd say things are looking good for us.
  12. Is this the first time a game here has been called for... cold? Never seen this before.
  13. Wow 19!!!!?!!??! I'd call it too. That is brutal. That's about 35 degrees below normal for this time of year. Ouch.
  14. LOL I use that example all the time of how East Coast-bias on ESPN. Classic. Hawk is a doof. I like that he's critical of the team when need be and he does have the best home run call, but I'm tired of his Kentucky-fried non-wisdom (this is CHICAGO, dude) and worn-out cliches like "chopper two hopper," all of which Roeper covered in a column last year. I think people are too hard on DJ. IMO DJ gets big-footed by Hawk in the booth. Have you ever heard DJ in the booth for a FOX game, with Hawk gone? It's like night and day--he's much more talkative and interesting. That said, Hawk's homer-ism can be endearing but can also lead to unfortunate statements like at Soxfest in 2005: "I think the 2004 team was one of the best squads we ever put on the field." Pfft.
  15. Thank God we can relax now and look forward tomorrow to facing... Santana... ;p
  16. this is reminiscent of one of my favorite 2005 games, which was also weekday at 1:05 and where our offense was worse than this. We were playing KC and it was 0-0 in the 9th (Greinke had shut us down) and the reliever managed to walk in two runs: Sox win. That's when I thought: we have something going on if we're winning games like these. Let's hope this is the END OF THE FUNK, since 2nd half last season! I'll TAKE IT!
  17. So bases loaded, AJ hit by pitch and winning run walked in?
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) Low and Away and let the magic happen. LMAO! So true. Low and away, low n' inside if it's our lefties or AAAnderson.
  19. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) well, at least this team is getting all of their bad breaks out of the way early! Here here that's what I say.
  20. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) 2-1 Cleveland. AJ swung for the fences and came up short. Uribe managed to get a walk. THANK YOU!
