QUOTE(Zoogz @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Well, counting the loss in Seattle, it was a 3-3 West Coast swing. This season has been exceedingly strange for many reasons to this Tigers fan, and the best indicator of it is this: only 3-3 on the West Coast swing? 59 wins at ASB though is terrific, and this race has been really fun. The Tigers need to go 41-33 (a .554 winning percentage) to get 100 victories on the year. Not that it is a definite; I'm still apprehensive about injuries, and the Tigers/Lions fan in me is still expecting the other shoe to fall. But they have definitely exceeded all my expectations thus far, and even if the White Sox overtake them I am happy that the Tigers have at least showed for half-a-year that they can be a good team. With that being said... Hey, Tigers, playoffs? Please? It's been a while... heck, even the Lions have been to the playoffs more than once since you have. I sware every time the Tiggers lose we see this same post, but worded differently. The fact is if the Sox overtake Detroit, there will be no Detroit fans left on this board.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) heard him connected to the Cubs if Dusty gets fired. That is a tribune pipe dream.

For us watching on TV, I wanted to see the sox win the game and watch that stupd Red Sox fan in scout seats cry in his hands. I went to the first 2 games and got nothing more than "fake" red sox fan in new caps and jerseys. They are the AL cubs fans, and im glad this is over.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) You're saying the Sox shouldn't upgrade their bad starting pitching because other contending teams also have bad starting pitching. Since the objective is to be better than other teams and not "just as good," that's reason enough to upgrade. the team looks exhausted, lets go to the break and table this discussion.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) For what it's worth, from Buster Olney's blog today: "Many, many teams are looking for middle relievers but very few are available because, quite simply, most of them are cheap. "It really doesn't make a lot of sense to trade a good middle reliever because you're not paying him that much, and as soon as you trade one, you've got to find a replacement," said an AL GM. "Everybody is looking for the same thing," said another AL executive, "and there's almost nothing out there.'" Which means either teams have to overpay, or rely on unproven guys (like Montero) or hope guys having disastrous seasons (Politte) turn it around. Good thing the White Sox' major bullpen hole is a mop up guy. Screw Buster, we already got Riske in this nonmoving market. I have faith in KW, he knows his s***. I discredit anything that comes from ESPN and its s***ty affiliates. -
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) I've read that Houston, when the roof is closed, can be deafening. But when the roof is open and they are too busy crying, and not cheering....the stadium sucks. Sorry when my entire section emptied out during game 4 after the sox scored, i lost respet for their fans and their stupid bee noise.

I believe there was something fishy going on with Mark's last start. Cmon, 7 straight hits on first pitches. Here comes the Red Cubs, they have to go out and buy new jerseys for this series. -
QUOTE(earthshiner @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...d=cws&ym=200509 the Crede one is on this page. that game gives me shiver, I remember feeling so down with the prospect of us losing another game to the indians. Indians, weren't they supposed to be the favorites this year.....hmmm espn

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) One of these years they're going to mold all that top talent into a first round victory in the NCAA tourney I'm sorry I couldn't help myself... Anyways, I could definitely see Derrick Rose go to KU. Everyday I hear a new team is in the mix. Memphis, KU, Virginia and Illinois are his top choices so we will see. Hes most likely a one and done player, but I promise you he is much more disciplined and talented player than Sherron Collins. Seeing how excited you were about Sherron, if you score Rose you should be five times more thrilled. by all means, we fully deserve the criticism. I can see Self taking him, Self seems to get everything he wants, well except for victories in March. If we got rose, i would be ubber happy. That being said, I am so so so excited for sherron.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) Probably the Mack game as of now. A lot of our real late come back wins that he would have went psychotic during were on national tv, so we've probably missed some of the best calls this year. The AJ homer, the Iguchi come back, the Crede granny against Houston, the 11th inning come back against the tribe were all on national tv. That was good, I was at that game. DJ says "im checking hawks's pulse Hawk says" its not there haah

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) There are a lot of pitchers that could go 9-4 with 133 runs of support in 17 starts. The only thing I know is the sox love hitting for Javy....keep running him out then. -

Any truth to this According to a State Journal Register sports writer Jim Ruppert: The talk around the Nike Camp, etc... is don't be suprised to see Mr. Rose in a Kansas uniform in 2007.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) Yeah his call during Thome's grand slam last night was classic. But really, does anything top the JOE... CREDE... call from last year's Cleveland game? god i wish he did the AJ homer call at Wrigley, he would have s*** his depends.

Strap er down...go sox

Matt is such a great addition to the bullpen. Thornton to Jenks is as nasty as you get.
