QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) You actually like having all those breaks between classes? He's a freshman

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) Haha you go to Minnesota right Felix? Damn Gophers Indeed I do

QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Aug 21, 2007 -> 03:13 AM) I can't believe how many people here can't think outside of the temporary box. Come on guys, most of you were probably agreeing that Jon was the real ace of the team back between June 4 and July 1. If you want to trade him because you want to free up money that's one thing, but don't say you want to trade him just because he's pitched bad for the past month and a half. He's not a Cy Young by any means, but we all know he's a lot better than he is right now. Are you still going to be yelling for a trade when he's putting up zeros and getting us wins? Is he really? His career ERA is 4.48, and his career has proven that he's a very average pitcher who can't strike batters out that had an abnormally good 2005.
-
Finally, a win!

Jon should have been traded awhile ago when his value was at its highest. Instead, Garland has just proven himself to be an average (or worse) league pitcher, something that he's always been with the exception of his 2005 season.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) Did everybody start this week? I know UofI doesn't start till the 27th, and we (Marquette) don't start to the 27th. Sort of sucks that I have to live in a dorm this year, but I'll make do. At this point I just want to get to Friday -- I'm all alone :sadface. I don't start until September 4th. QUOTE(Beastly @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) I don't drink, though. Just wait until finals week

Mark out after only 5.1 innings? Talk about unusual.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 05:06 PM) My roomate is going back to school this year (haha its classic too because hes going back to Wisconsin just like the Rodney Dangerfield movie, except hes only in his mid 20s), so Im jealous as hell of him because while I work my lame 9-5 job hes going to be living the sweet life again. I feel sorry for him.

I was supposed to move in today, but my flight was canceled (screw you Continental), so I can't move in until tomorrow. Luckily for me, the lovely Continental scheduled me for a 7 AM flight, meaning I get to leave my hour at about 4:30. Man, I love flying!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) I don't think there's nearly as much of this going on as you make it seem. If it is there, I'm not seeing it. I'll definitely agree with you there. There used to be much more than there currently is, but it seems to have faded after '05 and a lot of people here actually seem to dislike him (or at least, the buzz about him from the common fan).

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) I hope you drank nothing but Flying Dog whilst reading the Gonzo. I actually was given a bottle of flying dog (snake dog) by some random guy at a hidden beach around here earlier this summer. I can't say I was a fan of it (I'm not really a beer drinker, but I've worked on acquiring the taste this summer; right now my beer of choice of mic golden light), but I do have the bottle on display at a friends house

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) Diggin' the Beefheart A squid eating dough in a polyethylene bag is fast and bulbous. Got me? I finished reading Fear and Loathing today, so I figured I'd change from Ralph Steadman's work

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) There is, but I can attest to the truth of what Crimson is saying. Out of (a possibly misplaced) courtesy to the religious family and friends I grew up surrounded by I continued to profess to be agnostic well past the time when I had known myself that I was an atheist. Unless you are born into atheism, it is an experiential process to get there from the religious space you were born into, and the transition from questioner to doubter to outright unbeliever is for most a continuum rather than an abrupt process. Trust me, I'm aware of that process. When I was younger, I was raised agnostic, as my parents aren't religious at all. Then, in 6th grade, I went to catholic school (better education than the public one), and.. well.. that was enough to give me a hatred of religion. It's sad, but it's true (this reigns very, very true).
-
QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 07:00 PM) Much like atheists who say "I'm an agnostic, not an atheist". There is a huge difference between agnostic and atheist, so you're completely wrong there.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) I would say that someone that is religious probably has some introductory level knowledge to their religion of choice. Someone that is spiritual wouldn't necessarily have to have much knowledge other than a willingness to be open to the idea of a higher power. Thats basically what I'm saying (or trying to at least). Because of that, I think that religious people have to have some sort of religion, while spiritual people don't necessarily.
-
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) Still, Religious is different than spiritual. To me, the only difference between a person that is spiritual and a person that is religious is that the religious person is just a member of an organized religion. Past that, I consider them the same thing. If you're truly interested in how many people belong to an organized religion, then yes, I think you're probably right in the grouping that you've chosen. If you're interested in seeing how many people believe in any sort of god, then spiritual has to be grouped with religious.

I'm atheist, and very opposed to religion, so I'm voting for "Not at all" as opposed to "Is atheism a religion?" (maybe its just the wording or my interpretation, but "Is atheism a religion" just doesn't sound like the right answer, even though I'm very atheist)

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 13, 2007 -> 02:48 AM) Interesting fact. The Sox are 40-14 when Bobby Jenks pitches. Probably because he's used mostly when we're winning to close out a game, since he is the closer afterall.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Now we just need him to lead them on a winning streak taking them past the Cubs... I'm definitely rooting for the Cardinals to win the NL Central. I don't know what it is, but the Brewers have just started to piss me off this season. Probably because I know some smug fans of theirs, but still.. -

I love DJ, but I watched the Sox last night (first time in awhile, I always seem to miss them when they're on WGN), and Stone is great with Hawk. As much as I think DJ is a good announcer, I think Stone and Hawk are a better pair than Hawk and DJ.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 11, 2007 -> 05:25 PM) Linkin Park's songs look the same I'm not surprised at all.
