Iguchi Traded to Phillies for RP/SP Michael Dubee
Felix replied to IlliniKrush's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:57 PM) Yeah, you are correct. I forgot about that. Hopefully he is available in the offseason. Why? He's an overrated player whose speed is dropping each year and has never had a SLG above .400. Considering that, and the current market trends, he's not going to be worth the contract that he gets, even if he does put up a acceptable (its not nearly as good as it was when he was down in Florida) OBP atop the lineup. -

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) Mets just acquired Castillo for 2 minor leaguers (one being a AA Catcher). So Iguchi was still only worth a Single A Pitcher? I also thought there was no market for 2B. Castillo had more value because of the draft picks after the season (assuming he qualifies for them, which I think he does but don't know for certain) -
Last place, woo!

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 10:42 AM) For purely selfish reasons, I would love for him to break the record tonight. It would be so easy to remember what day it happened on for the rest of my life. Happy birthday?

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) 71 Ks in 400 at-bats. So I would say not until that K number comes down. Didn't stop Gooch from being a pretty good #2 hitter the last two years (I think at least). -
This thread should be on TalkBigTen

Doesn't look like they're going near Florida this year, but one of these years they have to And oops, it's actually Ray White this time around, not Ike Willis.
-
Well, another tour going this year, you headed to a show Jim? I've got my tickets when they're in Jersey (perfect timing for when I go home for summer break), and the set list looks excellent. This time, Ike Willis is the guest of choice, I don't think Bozzio, Vai, or Murphy Brock will be there, but I'm excited to see Ike.

What do you expect? They're Badgers

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:22 PM) I Loved the deal , he was our world series ace and was one of the top 3 pitchers in the game for a long time. Considering many sps pitch until they are 40, I didn't see much risk as it looked like Count found his tools. I guess over half the posters in this thread didn't like the deal at the time. Umm yeah right Well, Count was well above 40 at the time of the deal, so yea.. And if you don't believe some of the posters beliefs at the time of the deal, check the original extension thread. You'll see that at least my stance hasn't changed, not sure about others.

They can have Count for a bag of balls.

We've rigged elections before. Lets do it again

QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) Because it has the potential to negatively affect the Sox for the next two seasons? Yea, and this isn't really new news. I mean, I guess what I'm really wondering is, why worry about something that is already known by the majority of Sox fans when you could be celebrating a win against a division rival? It just seems like silly timing to bring something like this up. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) I had the link ready to go for this thread, ha. Hindsight is 20/20. When it happened, 90% of the board loved it, including myself. It was a risk that backfired. I'm proud to say I never liked it, but that doesn't really matter
-
It'd be pretty fun to read the Contreras contract extension thread here again (oh, and here it is for the curious/bored) But yea, there's no point in worrying about this now. It's already been done, and the team's stuck with it. Why bring it up?
-
I like Quentin, but I didn't realize the struggles that Jackson was having this year. I'd definitely move Contreras in a heartbeat for either of these two, and although my gut reaction was yes to moving Garland for the pair, I'm questioning that.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) They need to have Slurm, Bachelor Chow and Ham Gum at some of them when Futurama comes back in 2008. Full price for gum? That dog won't hunt monsignor!

QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) He's coming back and I'll feel good wearing my jersey again. I feel good wearing mine already

Buehrle is here for some time, so now who is about to...

QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 10:03 AM) It is pointless to trade Dye or Contreras as they have little value in the market right now. It's pointless to move Dye because of his low value, but there is a huge point in trading Contreras and his horrible contract, even if all he brings back is peanuts. -
Mariners looking to lock up Ichiro long-term
Felix replied to iamshack's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) 5 years, 100 million? That's absolutely insane. It's not nearly as insane as you're making it seem. If you look at it based on him solely as a player, sure, it's crazy. He's not worth 20 mil a year. On the other hand, factor in the revenue they get from overseas and from their own fanbase because he's around. To spend 20 mil to keep Ichiro is probably worth it for them, even if too much for him as a player on the field. -

Is there a possibility that Contreras is having arm problems?
Felix replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) This is from Jose's wikipedia entry Take it for what it's worth. Because wikipedia is always right on everything, right? QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) Who looks older Contreras or Greg Oden? I think Count has the leg up now, but just wait until Oden is "30". I'm pretty sure he'll then take the cake. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) Pretty cool. I was rather disappointed that I wasn't mentioned but I've always thought of myself as being underrated anyway. Kind of like Boone Logan? Soxtalk is indeed an excellent site, thanks to all of the admins and members that make reading this site daily such a pleasure, even when people get delusional with some trade talk

Royce Ring has 6.1 innings pitched this year. Why is he even on this list?
