QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) 2 on, no out, and they don't bunt Uribe. I don't get that. Uribe is a very bad bunter.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) And now he gets Blalock on 3 pitches. 4 That inning was vintage Buehrle. Lets see him do that more often
-
Thats the Buehrle I want to see.
-
Excellent job running Pods

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Yes, yes he is. And unlike Buehrle, even when he's hitting not hitting locations, he could actually still get outs. Buehrle's just providing more evidence on why Strikeout pitchers > Location Pitchers. Why is he a good starting pitcher? Past years? If so, why is Buehrle a bad starting pitcher? He's been successful in the past, and is one of the better lefties on the league. He's having a bad year, that doesn't mean he sucks and should be traded.
-
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) so wtf happened to buehrle? He's leaving the ball up in the zone, and when you don't throw fast, it doesn't give good results.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) Well, fish.... I'ma eat. Going to eat fish?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) But who would strikeout looking and get picked off at the top of the order? He strikes out looking because he's being incredibly patient, which is another reason his walk total has jumped since last year. You take the good with the bad.

fish leadoff singles This filter is annoying, but hey, its funny

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) You need to brush up on your no-name baseball players. Jason Tyner is a journeyman OF who spent a few years in the majors with the D-Rays, last year he hit pretty damn well for the Twins and he seems to be doing the same this year. Wasn't he on Texas too? I might be wrong though. IIRC, Tyner is a good small ball guy with a good amount of speed and bunting ability. That being said, I could be confusing him with someone else.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) Thank you, now I know as much as you. I hope you don't mind but as you can see I've been a bit light phingered with your sig phor my avi. Heh, I was going to put it there, but I can't disturb the Rally Crede. I found the image on Phish.net's FAQ while seeing if they had a better definition of cluster flies. Sadly, they do not, but its a good source of information if you want to know more about random Phish things

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) Listening to Farmhouse as we speak. what the phuck are clusterflies? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster_fly In other words, I really don't know. I always sort of guessed they were something from Gamehendge, although that doesn't quite make sense in terms of the album I don't think, since the album isn't about Gamehendge.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) That's Ok. Phish are now my new, newest favourite band. I just got "Billy Breathed", Great sunny weather (yes we are having some) car music. Smart man QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) Well, I suppose that The Times They Are A Changing, now where Have I heard that before? Sounds like it would make a good title for a song. Nice namedrop (or something like that) QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) BTW, Phish are playing Chicago at the end of this month, I sooo wish it was in mid August instead. Trey and Mike, not all of Phish (sadly, I'd like to see them get back together just so I could see a show). They played here on the first of the month, but of course, I didn't go because I was just getting back from being out of town (saw the Sox in Pittsburgh ), and very, very tired.

For me, its gotta be Greg Maddux. I always loved the way he pitched, and I'm usually a fan of most pitchers that rely on superb control to get their outs, rather than those that try to overpower their opponent. This is the same reason I'm a Mark Buehrle fan, despite his recent struggles. I really don't like Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, or Curt Schilling, but thats just me. Pedro, I'm sort of indifferent to. Great pitcher, but I wouldn't call him one of my favorites.

Just checked on MLB4u, and Thornton is a free agent after 2010.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 06:37 PM) Hopefully it was Buehrle and Garcia for Dontrelle. If I knew where the puke smiley went, I'd put it here.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) Is Thornton a FA after this year? If so, he's making himself a fortune. According to Cot's, he's only got 1.129 years of service, so he's still under the team's control for awhile. I could be wrong though.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Also I must admit that 3 way deal is relatively realistic although the Sox are giving up a whole heck of a lot. I don't think its realistic at all, simply because I think that KW won't trade BA. Aaron Rowand was made available because of Anderson's prescene, and KW traded away his real competition for the future CF in Chris Young, despite the fact that Young is widely considered one of the top 25 prospects in the league, and has a much better future than Anderson. KW is clearly a huge Anderson fan, and to trade him away now, of all times as he's getting better and better at the plate, just doesn't make any sense to me.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) Well, if this skin doesn't suit you, we still have the other two for now. This is the skin I designed for Talk Bulls. Jason worked the magic of "Find and Replace", replacing the red with gray. It's also the same skin as Talk Bears. So basically, Jason deserves no credit. Any idiot in a high school class could have done what he did. Yea, I knew it looked similar

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) Everything about Texas sucks. EDIT: Sorry Kap! Watch out for Dick Cheney, he might shoot you in the face. Go Sox!

QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) I think I'm going with Liverpool b/c I do think Crouch is funny. God, he looks so out of place... Excellent choice! I'm going to try and actually follow the EPL this year, perhaps we could keep a thread on it in here, that would probably help
-
What are some of the most noticeable difference between Winston Salem and Birmingham? Your team is up by 1 with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th. There are 2 outs, and you've got a 3-2 count on the batter. What pitch do you go to?
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) Honestly I'm not sure it would be enough to get those 3 but it still wouldn't fit the Sox' needs if it were somehow accepted. Well, I don't know much about Reggie Willits, but from some quick research, BA didn't have him on their top 10 prospect list, and John Sickels didn't have him in his top 20 list. I'm not too high on Chone Figgins, especially when we currently have Pods. I think that if you are looking for a leadoff man, regardless of speed and baserunning abilities, Pods is a better choice, especially with the numbers that Figgins is putting up this year. I wouldn't give up Brian Anderson for any of those 3 players, nor would I give up Lance Broadway for any of those 3 (sue me, I'm a fan of him and the type of pitcher that he is). When you combine both Anderson and Broadway, well, it just doesn't do much for me.

QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) I know this is kind of an old topic, but with everyones interests changing in the mean time I thought this still may be a pretty viable option, only as a three way deal though. Something like this: Sox get Chone Figgins Austin Kearns Reggie Willits Angels get Alphonso Soriano Brian Anderson Jerry Owens Nats get Pods Adam Kennedy Lance Broadway Joe Saunders Nick Adenhart I know it is a pretty huge trade, but I think it makes a lot sense for all sides. I know a lot of people really like BA and will hate this, but I think this gives the Sox the guy at the top of the lineup that Pods is supposed to be. Angels get their guy in Soriano, plus we help keep him off the Tigers. So, in essence, we'd be giving up Brian Anderson, Jerry Owens, Scott Podsednik, and Lance Broadway for Chone Figgins, Austin Kearns, and Reggie Willits? No chance in hell I'd give up that much for those 3 players.
