Lets get some more first inning runs. It'd be nice to score both Gooch and Thome by the end of the inning. Nice baserunning by Thome, but pretty silly for Gooch to run on contact -

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) But, who leads off then? QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) Abreu would hit lead off and play left field. The Sox would take on his full contract for the remainder of this year and next year, but it would be buffered a bit by the roughly $4 million difference between Vazquez's and Gordon's contracts. Abreu would be a perfect lead off hitter for the Sox. He's got the best OBP of any outfielder in the game, and at .443 is third overall, behind only Travis Hafner and Joe Mauer. Plus, he has 19 SBs and 4 CSs, so his running is much more efficient than Scott Podsednik's.

Anyone here listen to Jojo Mayer with Nerve? Its a drum and bass group that I heard from a recording of the 2005 Modern Drummer Festival, but I can't track down any albums through Amazon etc. Here's a sample of their sound

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 08:00 AM) We can also hope SD reels off a 1o win streak to put distance between them and SF I, for one, am hoping that the Giants stay in it. We don't need KW overpaying for a few months of Schmidt, especially if any deal includes either BMac or BA.

QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) The only team in contention in the AL that is in absolute desperation for SP is the Yankees You mean the team with a better ERA out of their starters than the Sox?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) He was in the AAA all-star game? Yes. It'd be nice to see Tracey get another shot in the bigs this year

Rotoworld's take on Buehrle's game: The defense behind Buehrle was a joke. Derek Jeter was credited with an RBI double on a shot to center that Brian Anderson misjudged in the first. In the fourth, a leadoff single was followed by what was termed a bunt hit because Tadahito Iguchi forgot to cover first base on the play. That resulted in another bunt, and Paul Konerko threw to third in plenty of time to get the lead runner, only to have Alex Cintron drop the ball. A double and a single followed, knocking Buehrle from the game. The double might have been a single, but Anderson made a terrible throw back to the infield. Buerhle is struggling right now, but he probably would have kept the White Sox in the game with some help. Jul. 15 - 4:54 pm et

I was at the game when he first came back from the DL, and he seemed like a great guy (didn't talk to him personally, but he did sign some autographs for people etc.). Shame this happened to him this year.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) I'm about ready to turn this game off. Just pathetic. Yea, 2-0 in the 3rd inning is insurmountable. -

If Cintron was off with contact, I think he could have made it. Probably not worth the risk though. -

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Why are you posting this stuff? Because you got called out last year for being a pessimist, and now you have to post pie in the sky posts? How about realistic? That would GREAT from you, Poppy. Obviously because the White Sox are the BESTEST team in baseball and are one of the bestest teams of all time. Duh! (also, his original preseason predictions were better [120+ wins was one])
