  1. QUOTE(Damen @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 11:18 AM) You're right. He's got a ring. Billy Beane has 2 (1987 and 1989)
  2. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:20 AM) Then Fields should be tried in the OF then, right? He's certainly not going to replace Crede at 3b. IMO, a trade for Linebrink would start with Freddy anyway. Crede could be dealt similar to what happened to Rowand (although I wouldn't want to see that happen, and I really don't think it will happen).
  3. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) He also took a very easy to see shot at Michael Lewis and Moneyball. In Moneyball, Lewis essentially called KW "stupid" for trading with Beane. (note that Beane himself did not say this, a common misconception). In today's interview, KW said, "Well, obviously we'll try not to do anything stupid". I luv it. I think you might be reading a bit too far into it there. Still, nice article
  4. Got home from work to see a 7-1 lead for the Sox. Its pretty clear that the Rally Crede is back.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Great. Should be a fun gamethread with all the Tigers fan on it tonight. *prepares .357 to point into own mouth* I sort of feel lucky I'll be at work, although that means I'll miss nearly the whole game
  6. I noticed he was in the 90's after the first few innings, and yea, I did notice him hit 94. It was strange
  7. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) I do and so should you! He is not the player he was last year. Even if he get soooo many more walks, he is stuck on first. Last year he would steal 2 bases and then before you knew it we were leading 1 to 0. I dont see him hitting the ball the other way this year as often. And yet this year, he's scoring many more runs than he did last year, mostly because of the offense behind him. He sure is stuck on first base.. always staying there and such. Why risk getting caught stealing if the guys behind you are going to score you? QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Mack is not VERY good in any OF position. Let me rephrase. Compared to his defense in CF, Mack is very good at the corner outfielders. He has a strong arm, and has had a few good defensive years (in limited time) at those positions. Over the course of his career, he's basically been an average corner defender.
  8. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Well when you talk about his offence you have to include his SB's He is clearly not as good as last year and I don't remember him taking so many called third strikes. Who cares about his stolen bases? If he attempts to steal, he's hurting the team more than he helps it, considering he has Iguchi (.343/.390/.507 with runners on), Thome, Konerko, and Dye up after him. I also assume you don't remember him walking as much as he is this year, meaning a higher OBP, which comes with the called third strikes. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) When you are putting Mack as replacement late in games,you are bad! Mackowiak is a very good defensive corner outfielder, he's just horrible in CF. Sorry.

  10. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) I cannot recall him not getting to any balls he should have lately either. It's fashionable to bash on Pods.
  11. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) What is that like 9 games? 52 AB, and considering he has a .280/.359/.399 line on the year, which is better than his line last year, the criticism of his offense is foolish. Criticize his defense all you want, but he hasn't hurt our offense.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) And what exactly is Pods doing well in LF? His defense is terrible. He's hitting well, despite what people here like to think, especially as of late (.365/.411/.462 in July).
  13. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 10:51 AM) We shoudl try out Chris Stewart. He really can't be much worse. He's hitting .264/.322/.394 in AAA, which is a hitters park IIRC. I doubt he'd be able to match Widger's offensive numbers in the bigs.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) Were you the listener by chance? I'm willing to bet yes
  15. Rooney used to say And thats a White Sox winner Let's hear it again
  16. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) Anyone know how to buy the game for the mac? I have been trying to, but when I go to the buy now page, I only see an option for the PC version. http://www.ootpbaseball2006.com/downloads....w=download&id=1 You can probably just download the setup file, and purchase it that way (you could with OOTP 6, not sure if its the same for 2006). You can get the demo here for mac if you want to try it before you buy it.
  17. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) True. However we have taken chances on guys with troubled pasts. Our closer is one of those guys...then again I don't remember Bobby ever punching his wife/gf in the face. There's a bit of a difference between having trouble with substances and punching your wife in the face. A huge difference.
  18. Myers punched his wife in the face. If he ever gets on the Sox, I'll be sickened.
  19. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) If playing with ficitional rosters isn't your cup of tea, there's always fan-created rosters that you have the option to download. Or historical databases from Lahman (which is down at the moment, but still nifty) or ARod/Garlon. Basically, you can do just about whatever you want with OOTP, especially the newer version which makes historical finances much more realistic (in 6, you would have to use current day finances while playing in the past, no matter what year).
  20. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) :finger Don't worry. We're only going to lose 9 more times this entire half!
  21. Click the "+ Quote" button (which is right next to the reply w/ a quote button under each post) for all of the posts that you want to quote. Then, go down to the bottom of the page and click the "Add Reply" button, which is between the "Fast Reply" and "New Topic" buttons. That'll take you to the new reply page, and it will include all the quotes on it. To reply to each one specifically, just add your comments to each specific quote after the code. For example (ignore the *): [*quote name=Steve9347' date='Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:24 AM' post='1215142] i love sushi. [/*quote] blah blah reply blah [*quote name=JimH' date='Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:47 AM' post='1215156] Apparantly I am worse. Doesn't seem like I should hit "reply button first, so I'm not getting how to comment under each post. Can someone be kind enough to give me a walk thru please, thanks. [/*quote] reply reply reply
  22. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) What do you mean he is not "that type of hitter"? What type of hitter is he? Perhaps I am mistaken, but I was under the impression that the White Sox projected Brian to be a .300 kind of hitter eventually, with decent power and speed. I think he's projected to be a .280 hitter with ~20 HR and a decent amount (~15?) steals.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) I wub Bolton. Go Liverpool! I don't really follow soccer, but when I do, I root for Liverpool (I don't know why, it started a few years ago )
  24. test? I apparently suck. Oh, alright. It doesn't work with the fast reply, only slow reply
  25. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) BTW, Baseball Mogul is a nice, cheap alternative, and I hear OOTP 07 is bad this year. Its OOTP 06, not 07, and from my experience, its not that bad. There are some bugs, but I haven't seen anything that glaring that hasn't been addressed in patches. I'm not a fan of Baseball Mogul. I think it sucks to be honest, but thats just me. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) Is it easy to find and download? Are there any risks of viruses or is it throught Out of the Park Baseball? Thanks RedandWhite for all the help. Very easy to find. They are put out (and linked to) on the OOTP forums, which can be found here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/foru...play.php?f=3623 Or more specifically, the mod forum here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/foru...play.php?f=3638
