  1. QUOTE(brijames @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) So on July 12 you are guaranteeing the White Sox will be in the WS? Where did I say that? I just said that a lot of people have said that around here, especially after the ASG last night.
  2. So basically, its the same thing that Sox fans have been saying here. What's your point?
  3. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) The Myers for McCarthy and Josh Fields proposal there is the ultimate in "We can totally pawn our old junky vet off for a team's best prospects!" Well, Myers is only 25, but still, both McCarthy and Fields alone are better than Myers, especially when you factor in his wife beating incident.
  4. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) We haven't even touched on the fact that lately, the guy has been popping up sac bunts.... Lately, the guy is also hitting .349/.378/.419. What's your point?
  5. QUOTE(Beltin @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) I think he means five or more games where the entire rotation would be tested. Which would mean we'd have to play games in Boston too, where they are better than they are on the road.
  6. http://www.philaphans.com/forums/showthrea...?threadid=43004 That thread is hilarious by the way.
  7. You are very wrong Poppy, just like you were before the season started. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) There is not a team out there who can beat the Sox in a full series. I guess we are ignoring the fact that Boston just took 2 of 3 from us in Chicago, right?
  8. As much as I would love to see Rowand in a Sox uniform again, this doesn't make sense unless the Phillies throw in something else (reliever as WCSox said). Vazquez and Mackowiak would be too much for Rowand, especially considering the fact that the Phillies wouldn't want to add Vazquez's salary. Oh, and where did you hear this rumor?
  9. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Amazing how Garner didnt play like 5 position guys while Beltran gets the whole game This time, it counts.
  10. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) who's playing first? Glaus

  12. QUOTE(Zoogz @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) One-run lead going into the bottom of the ninth. Go Jenks... Rivera, not Jenks.
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) Bring back Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Yes please.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) It was classless but I wouldnt call it a thug without knowing everything. Those 2 were going at it the whole game. He's a thug, it's not the first time he's done it.
  15. QUOTE(beautox @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) kevin youkillis > you Youkilis is the best leadoff man in baseball. I remember saying that he had the talent to be it last year and getting bashed for it because his MLB numbers weren't impressive at the time, good to know I was right
  16. 28.. I knew most of the recent ones, but struggled on the ones from the early 1900's. Still, I should have known some of the ones I got wrong

  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) I absolutely guarantee you that Rob would be better in LF than Pods. I f***ing guarantee it. And Ozuna would be a wash at best, but would be much better offensively. There's a reason Pablo is a bench player. He's a good bench player, but he's just that, a bench player.
  19. This is a good read about leadoff men and statistics by the way: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...eyes/index.html It doesn't include the numbers for all leadoff men, but its something to think about.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) I thought that was his 1 major asset though? There's plenty of other guys the Sox could find who could put up a .350 OBP, hit no HRs and steal a couple bases while playing much better defense in LF. Pods is 78th in the league with a .352 OBP, and I'm pretty certain most of the people ahead of him either are untouchable, or are way too much to acquire. I don't have the time to look through every single person on the list, but realistically, which of the players that have a higher OBP than him could be acquired? I also find this thread funny that its posted in July, while he's hitting .349/.378/.419 on the month.
  21. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) His stolen bases are down because he has Thome, Konerko and Dye up behind him, all of which are having spectacular years, and risking getting caught isn't worth it when those 3 each have a chance to knock him in from first (or second). I forgot to mention, Tadahito Iguchi is also hitting .331/.381/.504 with runners on, so why risk getting thrown out? Basically, its smarter that he's not stealing as many bases.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Pods is our leadoff man. We won a title with him as our leadoff man. That's all that really matters. Is he great? No. He wasn't great last year. The only real part of his game that I'm dissapointed with this year is his defense. I don't even have to go into how bad it's been. We also won a title with Timo Perez on the bench. So what? I don't think that Pods has been horrible this year. He's doing a great job of making pitchers work (25th in the MLB with 4.08 P/PA), but does tend to strike out looking a lot. He's having a better statistical year than last year, and nearly has as many extra-base hits as he did last year. Still, he needs to improve his defense. His stolen bases are down because he has Thome, Konerko and Dye up behind him, all of which are having spectacular years, and risking getting caught isn't worth it when those 3 each have a chance to knock him in from first (or second).

  24. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 09:30 AM) Thats why i dont like to know to much about the players. You find out they like Ann Coulter and listen to really bad music. Id rather know Bmac for his wonderful curveball and not used enough change. I agree so much
