  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) I see people here don't actually read the article, but merely read what they want to see. He didn't say that Bobby was mediocre, he said he was mediocre in the minors, which is true. I don't know why he's talking about their minor league performance, but still, at least read it correctly if you are going to criticize it. QUOTE(loltrain @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) The article clearly says a mediocre performing pitcher IN THE MINORS, which is true. He doesn't say he's been mediocre in the majors at all. I win
  2. http://www.suntimes.com/output/sox/cst-spt-sox03.html Good to hear (sorry if this was posted elsewhere)
  3. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) I was just reading nsbb.com No more is needed. Only one word describes this: cubsessed.

  5. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) De la Rosa is averaging more than 1 SO an inning, and his BAA is .269 (Cliff's is .425). No way in HELL is that worse. His WHIP is also under 2.0 (at 1.79). Chris Reitsma also has a BAA much less than Polittes and a WHIP under 2.0 as well. Not worse. Last I checked, WHIP doesn't calculate the runners which cross home plate. Since the point of the job of a reliever is to keep runners from scoring, a lower WHIP doesn't make the pitcher better. It merely means that they will be more likely to succeed in keeping runners from scoring since less runners will be on. Also, who cares if their BAA is lower? Does that really matter if the runs cross home plate? Wow, I can't believe I'm arguing this. I'm really, really bored.
  6. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) A little overboard? Wow. He has an 8.37 ERA. His WHIP is 2.11. His OBA (Opposing Batting Average) is an astounding .425. Opposing Slugging is .625 (I believe that might lead the league if he were a hitter). So let's not even say I'm going any bit overboard. If anything, I'm not going enough. This guy is trash. Worse relievers with similar IP: Jorge de la Rosa, Chris Reitsma, Jim Brower (who was DFA actually) Therefore, he's not the worst reliever in MLB. Sorry
  7. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) Mauer not on the Team at all? What did they say he was batting? .392?! Jesus... What are you talking about, he's on the team..
  8. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) NO.........NO!!! Haven't we seen with players how the homerun derby often disrupts a players stroke? HOnestly, I hope he hits several HR's (don't want to be embarrassed) and is eliminated in the first round. I really don't care about the HR Derby and think that people worrying about it is silly, but hey, whatever. I think its nice to see that he'll get recognized, and have his season talked about during his AB(s).
  9. Jermaine Dye in the HR Derby
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) It won't be the Twins fans alone who'll be voting for Liriano. Anyone with a TV knows how dominant he has been. Anyone with a TV knows how dominant Mauer has been too, didn't help
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) I'd be pissed that Buehrle is starting if I were a fan of any other team. But since I'm not, now the rest of you east coast pricks know what it's like. Suck it. When did they say Buehrle is starting? I thought it was announced the Monday before.
  12. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) they only got 2 going right? i think some astros players will be upset, esp. when they see that there are six sox.. good point by phillips:no nomar, what a year hes having Only 1, Berkman.
  13. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Liriano deserves to go over any of those names. He'll probably be voted in. He plays for the Twins, whose fans couldn't even get Mauer in as a starter. I don't think Liriano is going to make it, but hey, I could be wrong. He definitely deserves it though.
  14. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) He'll get my vote of course, but with the exception of Ramon Hernandez, all the other players are more deserving. Include Hernandez and the statement is still true (although it's closer with him than the others)
  15. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) This should get pinned up top. Link to vote? http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2006/fv/index.html
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) Have you seen a source? http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2006/fv/index.html
  17. QUOTE(JackTalkThai @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) I wasn't looking for sympathy. Not at all. I was looking for someone's rationalization? If there was one out there. He plays for the Tigers and Ozzie was picking the rosters. Isn't that enough reason?
  18. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) im sure gar, vazquez and freddy deserve to go............ He's talking about the Tigers. The Sox don't have the best pitching in the league.. (and if your post isn't meant seriously, it went right over my head )
  19. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) Um, didn't they just say Jenks is in? We got 7... 6. WHITE SOX (6): Paul Konerko*, 1B; Jim Thome*, 1B; Jermaine Dye*, OF; Mark Buerhle*, P; Jose Contreras*, P; Bobby Jenks*, P http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/events/a...roster_team.jsp
  20. QUOTE(jenksd @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) Did anyone else crack up at Mark Redman making the team? I think this means Iguchi is going for sure because Grudzalianakeliaek is out of the picture. Iguchi isn't "for sure". He could be on the final man ballot though. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/events/a...ster_league.jsp
  21. Kruk is still on drugs. Santana is better than Halladay, and Santana is the best pitcher in baseball.
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) I didnt do it. However, your thread was now wrong, we have 6 going. ahaha.. BBTN doesn't like that Buehrle got the nod over Schilling
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) We have 6, not 7 Where'd you see this?
  24. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) I guessed Konerko was on simply because it said below his name "3rd All-Star selection." Even though no one made any reference to it. Might have been a slip up with ESPN. I saw the same thing, and was about to post it but noticed you did
