  1. I saw the debut of the State College Spikes (Cardinals) last week, and saw the St. Paul Saints years ago when Darryl Strawberry was there.
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) I saw you. You were that guy who ran onto the field, weren't you?! Got me, I tried to be like that minor league manager by diving into second
  3. Did you guys hear us? Behind home plate, there was a bunch of Sox fans (myself included), and towards the end of the game, we started some "Lets go White Sox" chants (which drew a few middle fingers from people and a reply of "Lets go Bucs" chants) and "Bobby" chants for when Jenks came out. It was a great section to be in, and I think it really had more Sox fans than Pirates fans in it. Also, everyone that has been at the first 2 games, great job. The Sox have been represented amazingly, its great to see everyone around.
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) don't forget about my new grinder rule in recognition of last night! It would be better if you spelled deficit correctly
  5. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) I haven't taken Spanish since high school, but it's my understanding that one automatically emphasizes the second-to-last syllable unless otherwise designated by an accent mark. I've never seen an accent mark over the "O" in Cintron's name. Therefore, I'd expect his name to be pronounced more like: SEEN-trone. Perhaps I'm wrong and that's the way that Alex's family pronounces their last name, but I've never heard anyone in the Sox organization pronounce it like Miller does. Via ESPN (although yea, they could be wrong): Proper Name: Alexander Cintron Born: December 17, 1978 Humacao, Puerto Rico Height: 6-1 Weight: 205 lbs. Age: 27 Pronounced: SIN-tron
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) Prediction: The White Sox will sweep the Pirates. I really hope so, I'm going to all 3 of these, my first 3 of the year Unfortunetly, the weather isn't looking too good, and rain for the first 2 games is looking probable. Hopefully, the games will get in, but I'm thinking there's one rainout.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) First off your team has to win to get a save. Second, you have to be the last pitcher in the game to be eligible for a save. I think you quoted the wrong quote
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) Crede is currently 3rd among active players with 5 walk off homers. Do you have a link for that? I've been curious about that for some time, but never knew where to find the information.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) This caught my eye when I was looking at his numbers. ----------------------------------------v I like the photoshop job
  10. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) 7-1? i'm trying to figure out what this is referring to...is that "up until" the world series? or what is this? it was obviously 11-1 after it...so we were 11-1 in the playoffs, not 7-1...typo? He said 7-1 because the Sox went 7-1 against the AL in the playoffs. They went 11-1 overall, but 4 of those wins were against the "inferior National League".
  11. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) Who said they don't like Kenny Williams? QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 12:16 AM) Kenny brings in good chemistry guys, but he, himself is a f***ing bad apple. He needs to go. I'm tired of him trying to get his name in the headlines. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) Bulls***. Kenny is a power ridden *** QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) I hated Keny when we seen his true colors. It was only a matter of time.
  12. QUOTE(T R U @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) Ide take Garland, so im writing him in.. You'd be a fool for doing so. Liriano, easily.
  13. You could at least spell his name correctly in the topic
  14. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) In such a short blurb, why mention it at all? Raising an ERA by as little as .04 is certainly insignificant, yet Perry decided to point it out anyway, as if he wouldn't be as good as he is now if he did so. Why mention it? Because its regression, and thats what the article is about. He said that Count wouldn't be as good as he has been, and his ERA would be above 3. Then he went on to say that he'd still be productive and vital to the rotation. I really don't see how that is an insult, especially because he says that Count will still be good.
  15. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) I seriously hope you are joking, that guy cant keep the ball in the park hes old washed up and is an ex cub, should i keep going. I'm rather certain he was joking. It was laid on pretty heavy there.
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) I was impressed with how limber he was, and how well he handled his base. I've been a big proponent of letting him play there a good amount of times during Interleague play, and I felt more confident in him with today's game, personally. (I know it's unlikely that he'll make more than one start per series in IL play, I'm just saying.) As far as I know, he's always been a good defensive 1B. He's only at DH because of the injury concerns that come with playing the field.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Contreras has been remarkably consistent since the end of last year. And this might be true, but considering how he's done throughout his career and since the DL stint (small sample size and all), I don't think saying he'll finish the year with an ERA above 3 is unrealistic, or an insult. Hell, he even says that he will still be productive and a vital part of the Sox rotation, so I don't understand how he's bad mouthing Count at all. He's merely saying that Count isn't going to be below 3.00 the whole year, which is true. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) That's the best line. Count has a 2.96 ERA right now, but Perry makes it seem like raising an ERA by 0.04 is some sort of catastrophe. :headshake I'm pretty sure you are reading into it more than you should be. Perry merely said that Count wouldn't end the year with an ERA below 3, but stated that he would still be a productive part of the rotation.
  18. I don't really understand what he said wrong. He said that Count would not be as good as he has been, but he would still be "a vital and productive member of the White Sox's rotation". What did he say wrong? (other than the K-rate, which is true if you look only at his yearly stats, rather than his last 2 games)
  19. Nope The first 3 are from last night that I never posted because I forgot I'm going on vacation for 2 weeks (which ends with my first Sox games of the year in Pittsburgh), and although I will have an internet connection for some of it, I won't have time to upload pictures. Sorry 2 more:
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) He makes it sound like Contreras will be a failure if he can't keep his era under 3. As if there's some long list of guys in the AL who sport earned run averages below 3. What quote are you reading? "Contreras will continue to be a vital and productive member of the White Sox's rotation"
  21. No chance in hell, and I'm a Rowand fan.
  22. Obviously he's wrong about the k-rate, but he's probably right in the fact that Contreras won't finish with an ERA below 3, and he's also right that he's let up a fair amount of runs since coming back from the DL (by my math, he's got a 4.71 ERA since then).
  23. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) How did this become everyone's opinion? No one in this thread even said that, he's making things up with his eyes. Hell, Kalapse even said it was a foolish move.
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 10:02 AM) Not sure if this is because of that, but my Auto-Protect caught several things that don't belong trying to get onto my computer in the past 5 minutes. Same thing happened to me all of this morning (recently stopped), so I just stopped trying to get on.
