Official Get Jermaine Dye to start the ALL Star game Thread

QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Does it matter if you put a legit email add in? I don't think so, no. Its great to see our guys moving up the lists. Keep it up everyone -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Garland has looked pretty good in his last 3 starts, guys, although the last one wasn't as sharp as the previous 2. He just can't seem to get any decisions. I'm still a Garland believer, and he's showing me that he's possibly on the right track again. He has given up 6 homeruns in those 3 starts along with 14 runs, all of which were earned. How the hell is that looking pretty good?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) How about people who put ketchup on their brats? I wouldn't know. I'm a sinner and eat hotdogs with ketchup and mustard, so I'm not the best to ask about what is allowed to be put on food
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) can someone bump the old food thread? Can we start talking about how true fans don't use ketchup on their hotdogs then? That was a fun conversation.

QUOTE(Heath @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) I can understand why Griffey to the Sox for McCarthy rumors are out there. That would be the worst deal in recent years, and would be up there with Zambrano for Kazmir. If that happens, Kenny Williams is going to hear a lot of s***.
-
QUOTE(Heath @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Plus, it gives all you Sox fans the shot to see Junior Griffey in action, which it seems all over the baseball web that Kenny Williams is licking his chops for him to play center :puke

I played baseball until about 7th grade or so (can't remember the year exactly), playing just about every position but the corner outfielders and catcher (didn't play second much either, but I did play it occasionally). I was best on the mound, but didn't have any stuff and had to rely on control. I wasn't too good with the bat, but was fast at the time (something that has really changed as of late, stupid growing killed my knees) and could beat out throws for infield singles, etc. I made a few all-star games, but I wasn't really that deserving

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) I thought we are in pittsburgh Yea, the games are in Pittsburgh, which means I can actually go to them (my first three games of the year). I can't wait

Pittsburgh is coming up in 2 weeks... I can't wait!

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) Im trying to find them. This one entire thread doesnt really work well for this kind of thing .... what day did he ask this "question?" http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...dpost&p=1171105 http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...dpost&p=1171975

I've likely missed the time to ask these sorts of questions, and reading 20 pages or so on stuff that I find foolish isn't too appealing right now, but humor me please. Isn't the media supposed to write stories that appeal to the majority of the public? Doesn't Chicago still have more Cubs fans than White Sox fans? So wouldn't it make sense that the Chicago papers write about the Cubs more? Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just trying to see the point of this 'research'.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) I believe that's a Chicago Fire Jersey. I'm pretty sure it is. He wore one in the playoffs too last year.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) Ok, first it was the World's Strongest Man. Then, the World Series of Poker. Then, it was Scrabble. Then, it was the Spelling Bee. But are they seriously showing the World f***ing Domino Tournament? DOMINOS!?!?!?! ESPN has lost it. Scrabble kicks ass. I finished reading Word Freak not too long ago, and it really enlightened me about the world of competitive Scrabble. And no, I'm not joking

ST Poll: After Count, which starter has been the most consistent?
Felix replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Garland has been consistantly suck, but I can't bring myself to vote for him, so Buehrle's my pick. -
QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) He's fine as our 5th starter though. If he weren't making the ridiculous amount of money that he is, then yea, I'd agree with you. Unfortunetly, he is making a lot of money, and isn't anything more than an average pitcher.
-
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) I am waiting for your inevitable thread that says we have to trade Garland right away. Except we should trade Garland. Unfortunetly, he has a no trade clause, which makes that difficult to do.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) f***ing Tampons couldnt stop the bleeding. Detoilet wins again. f***!!! uh.. they haven't won yet..

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Nevermind, for a while on gameday it said "on field delay" so I had no clue what was going on. Some of the lights went out or something according to BBTN.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) I have no idea if Itzuris will be healthy, but you guys that think Citron is better are freaking nuts. 1st off, a healthy Itzuris is better defensively than Uribe and 2nd off, the guy was still incredibly raw when he first came up with the Dodgers, he had a few really strong runs where he showed he could hit, and his only major concern (aside from the elbow) would be his plate discipline. Soxtalk grossly underates Itzuris. You won't find many smart Dodger fans who really would like to see Itzuris go, the only problem is they don't really have a spot for him. In a full season, the guy has had a OBP above .302 once in his career (2004; .330), and had a OPS above .667 once (2004; .711). Despite this, he's making 3.1 million this year, $4.15 million next year, and a team option for $5.45 million in 2008. He's making more money than both Cintron and Mackowiak, yet both are better players. He would have no role on this team since Uribe and Iguchi are around, and Cintron backs them both up (as does Ozuna).
-
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) Who said the White Sox need him for power numbers? How about you take a look at his OBP and runs scored. Fact is, he's better than Brian Anderson, A LOT better right now. Anderson may be able to patrol center field well, but it's hard not to notice him missing cut off men, not backing up and running into JD when he's hitting below .200. I wouldn't condone trading Anderson to the Twins, but anything less, and I'd make this deal in a heart beat. I'll also mention he plays Ozzie's type of ball, hard nosed, clean and unselfish. He's worth 12 million, you ask me. Sorry for the delay, I was out of town. Take a look at his OBP? Its putrid for a person making the amount of money that he is, career .321 with a .328 OBP this year, which is far from being respectable. As for runs scored, who cares what they are? They are completely team dependant, meaning if you bat in front of a slugger, you will score more runs than if you bat in front of an automatic out (etc. etc.). Yes, right now, he's a lot better than Brian Anderson with the bat... who isn't? But do we really need the offensive upgrade from suck to stink that badly? I say no. Anderson's defense has been solid all year, and has probably saved as many runs as his offense has cost the team. Contrary to popular belief, he hasn't hurt this team as much as other things, such as the performance of the bullpen, have.

Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle crash
Felix replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) For sure? MSNBC says this.. "It was not known whether Roethlisberger was wearing a helmet when he crashed." "The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported that Roethlisberger wasn't wearing a helmet. The Associated Press reported it wasn't clear whether he was wearing a helmet or not." ESPN
