  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) Thanks. Not real impressive. A .936 OPS is pretty good..
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:38 PM) Here's the quote: question and response. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) My bad. Ask me to compare Bonds with Vlad Guerrero? Hideki Matsui? Bernie Williams? Jermaine Dye? All of these guys have better WS stats than Barry Bonds, AND have been (or are) all-star caliber players.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) I said post season. But SBIMI said world series
  4. We've beat the 220 mark, and are rapidly approaching 250.
  5. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) Why is everyone freaking out about Beurhle leaving. He is here for at least 2 more seasons. He has a player option for 2007 in which he will take. Lets start worrying about this after the 2006 season. If we keep winning I dont see why Buerhle will leave. Mark Mulder grew up a Sox fan, does that mean he will end up here after the '07 season? I doubt it. If there is 1 guy KW will cough up a lot of money to keep, Buerhle is the guy. No one is freaking out about Buehrle leaving. This entire thread is about SBIMI saying that Buehrle is better right now than Clemens, Santana, Prior, Halladay, and many other Cy Young winners etc.
  6. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) I said I don't have access to the stats like you do...I stand corrected. (At least I am man enough to admit my mistakes.) What about Dye? How about Manny Ramirez? Better than Bonds? Everyone has access to the stats. www.baseball-reference.com www.espn.com They both have all the stats you'll even need. And no, neither Dye nor Manny have better WS stats than Bonds.
  7. Also, Bernie's WS stats are .208/.319/.358 Bonds are .471/.700/1.294
  8. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:05 PM) My bad. Ask me to compare Bonds with Vlad Guerrero? Hideki Matsui? Bernie Williams? Jermaine Dye? All of these guys have better WS stats than Barry Bonds, AND have been (or are) all-star caliber players. psst, Vlad hasn't been in a WS. I won't tell anyone
  9. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) So then ask me to compare Barry Bonds with Ichiro. They are outfielders who played in a WS. Stop trying. Please.
  10. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) It's a stupid question! I'm not comparing Clemens to Felix Diaz, I'm comparing all stars with all stars! Can you see the point?! Stupid questions deserve to be answered too. Something you still haven't done. And according to you, since Willie has better postseason numbers, and Timo has comparable numbers, you'd rather Willie than Bonds, and you'd just as soon take Timo than Bonds.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) Malatov threads. Add one seemingly benign topic, mix in one SBIMI, three regular posters, and watch the thread explode. From the scary, scary Buehrle thread
  12. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) Why don't you ask me if I'd rather have Konerko or Bonds? At least they're comparable talent-wise! The same could be said about Buehrle and Santana, or Buehrle and Clemens, or Buehrle and Halladay. And you still haven't answered that question.
  13. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) Based on Bond's playoff career, if the game is on the line and there is 2 outs and I need a hit, I do NOT want Barry Bonds at bat. That doesn't answer the question. Willie Harris or Bonds? Timo Perez or Bonds?
  16. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) It doesn't. Admittedly I don't watch NL baseball, I don't like it. I think it's inferior. Do you watch any baseball outside of White Sox baseball?
  17. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) CAREER playoff stats!!! Who would you rather, Willie Harris or Barry Bonds? Timo Perez or Barry Bonds?
  18. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) You can't say how he'd perform in the playoffs. Look at Barry Bonds...arguably the best player in the last 20 years. Check out his playoff numbers...they suck. One could argue that he's not clutch; that he doesn't perform well under pressure. We cannot make an assumption on Santana either way, because we have yet to see him pitch in a playoff. So would you rather Timo Perez than Barry Bonds?
  19. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) Based on what? Santana's vast World Series experience? Based on every stat possible, and watching them both pitch. Its not Santana's fault he wasn't in the world series or playoffs, its his teams fault.
  20. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) True...but WINS are THE most important stat. I'd rather have a 20 game winner with a 4.00 era than a 13 game winner with a 3.00 era. The guy with 20 wins has those 20 wins because his team has an offense. The guy with 13 wins only has that few because his teams offense sucks. Its not his fault.
  21. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) I asked, if you had a WS on the line and had to pick one of these guys to win your game 7, who do you pick? I'd go with MB (or Pedro) (proven CLUTCH pitchers). I'd take the best pitcher, who is Johan Santana.
  22. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:26 AM) Over the last 5 yeras, who has the most wins out of all the pitchers mentioned? You guys have access to all the stats...educate me. Without looking at the stats, I can tell you that wins are team dependant, meaning a pitcher could have a spectacular game, but still lose the game. Just look at Roger Clemens last year. He was the best pitcher in the league, but only had 13 wins.
  23. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Except that if I said for example, that 2+2=5, that is a statement that can be proven wrong, whereas if I say I'd rather have Mark Buehrle pitching for me than Roger Clemens, you cannot prove me wrong. Look at any stat. Ask any analyst. Ask any sensible person. They will all tell you Clemens is better than Buehrle.
  24. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) You're right about Clemens being the best of all time...but RIGHT NOW, I'd take Buehrle. 5 years ago, I'd have taken Rocket. So you mean, the year after Clemens has a year with a sub-2.00 ERA and lets up something like 2 runs all year on the road, you'd take Buehrle over him? Edit, sorry, he had 14 earned runs on the road, and 19 runs in total. I was thinking of him at the ASB.
