Young is a good college QB. I don't see his weak passes translating into the pros however, and I don't think he will be nearly as good a scrambler in the pros as he is in college. He has poor throwing mechanics, and hasn't shown consistant accuracy through his entire collegian career. And yea, its Leinart, Young, then Cutler.

Its not like Clark had any right to be anywhere near the Pro Bowl in the first place

Replaced by a long snapped. ahahahahaha.. how do you feel now Clark?

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) Ive consistently been a huge Grossman supporter, but please do not hurt your credibility by saying youd rather have Grossman over Young. He said he'd rather Grossman over Young for the next 3 years, which is really reasonable considering just about all the sensible analysts and people who watch the NFL and College football think that Young will take awhile to adapt to the pros. For this reason, yes, I'd rather Grossman over Young for the next 3 years as well, and hell, since I think Young will be a bust, I'd rather Grossman over Young period. Grossman isn't that good a QB, but is he bad? No. He hasn't had enough playing time to be properly judged, but in his small amount of playing time, he has been impressive in leading the Bears offense. Are his stats amazing? No. Are stats everything? No, watch the damned games. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) Yeah Duke in all your posts you really come off as a guy who thinks he knows a lot about football but really knows nothing at all..... Fixed, and yea, thats an extremely true statement. Also, over/under 20 posts before this thread is closed. I'm going with under.

I've played online for the PC, but there are so many cheaters that its not really worth it. Anytime you start to win, they just disconnect with some trick, and you get the loss even though you didn't do anything to disconnect. I do like playing though when the people are legit, it adds another aspect of the game.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) Maroney? Keep dreaming Mel. Addai would be the Colts' RB (Edge clone IMO) IF they drafted a RB that early (I think Addai will be there in round 2 and one of Sims or Howard will be there at 30). Any specific reason why? The Colts have been interested in Maroney for awhile, and Maroney would be a great fit for their system.

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Young isnt going to bust, he is a good QB, and he is nothing like Vick. The only way you can say Young is like Vick is if you never watched Vick play in college. Yea, you are right. You can't really compare the two, and the only reason I did was because Vick is a scrambling QB who cannot pass at the pros, which is what I think Young will be able to do at the most.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) he got a head coaching gig in the nfl... And he was horrible.. whats your point?
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) If hes doing the Sr. bowl why is he covering those 2? Lewis is a senior. Davis on the other hand, is a junior, so I don't know.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) No Milledge and Anderson are good prospects that are close to or are major league ready... Gomes and Sanchez are good prospects that arent close to major league ready....but all 4 of them good prospects in their own right. You are taking Phil Rogers words WAY too seriously.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) are you going to bring up this post in 2-3 years when its safe to label him as a bust? Hell still even be posting here? Time will tell
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) The reason Young will be a top 10 QB of alltime is because he is the best (I know it sounds corny) leader you could ask for. Will you at least admit it when he is a bust?
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) No way. Young is NOT Vick, Mr. Young made Pete Carroll look like a fool. And USC doesnt have a terrible defense. Its funny because you think Pete Carroll is a good defense coach.
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) I think we should say f*** it and give the farm for Vince Young. Wont happen, but if it did I'd have trouble not creaming myself every 5 seconds. Why trade for a worse Mike Vick? Without the crappy defenses and good Texas o-line, Young is going to be in trouble. And it will be funny to watch.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) So you want me to name OF's without naming the top 2? You said that the Sox have a bunch of OF talent in the minors. I assumed that you meant we had a bunch of good outfield prospects in the minors. If my assumption was wrong, I'm sorry, but if not, then what are you talking about?
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) I just heard that he isn't any good in CF. I thought that he was fine in LF but maybe there's a reason they stuck him there. Ah, that could be it. That would make sense too, since he's not a CF.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) And we still don't know if Owens is a fourth outfielder or a potential starter. Also, Sweeney is still very young but he has to start showing some power potential. But a future outfield of Anderson in LF, Milledge in CF, Sweeney in RF, and Owens as a fourth outfielder would be pretty impressive. I doubt I'd miss Chris Young much if that happened. Plus Owens is woeful at defense from just about all the reports I've heard.
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Grossman is almost as bad as Orton. So what, his pass looks nicer, he stills puts up the same #s This again? Grossman knows how to move the ball on offense, and his deep pass attempts open up the run game for Thomas Jones. The offense has a whole new life when Grossman is in compared to Orton. Grossman >>>>>>>>>> Orton.
-
QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) Theyre looking at him more for his abilities as a PR man and backup QB I'd rather Randel El than Orton.. (I'm not really sure if I'm being serious or not)
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Especially when you have a bunch of OF's in your system. Name a top outfielder in our system that isn't named Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney. I guess there's Jerry Owens, but still. Our minor league outfield depth isn't that big anymore with the trade of Young.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) Who's the third guy in your sig? There's Anderson and Bajenaru (I think), plus? 1st = Baj 2nd = Sean Tracey 3rd = Anderson

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) This is incorrect. Consistantly average, sorry. I was speaking relatively (compared to his 2005 numbers). QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) If you look at Garland's 2002 to 2004 numbers and compare them to his 2005 numbers, the only thing that really changed was the number of walks he gave up. If he goes back to walking 75 to 80 batters in 2006 instead of walking only 47 like last season, he won't be as effective. And runs, but I guess that could be a direct result of the more walks. He also let up less extra base hits last year than in years past.
-
I'm going with the unpopular answer, and saying that Garland's season was a fluke. If you look at his numbers as a starter, its not like they were getting better and then suddenly they come out as a top pitchers in the league. His numbers were consistantly poor, but then became damned good. I think he can be a solid #3 or 4 guy, but I do not think his numbers will match those he had last year on a consistant basis.

Great sig Kalapse, although I do disagree with it

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) BTW, Pujols was a 13th round pick. McCarthy was even later than that IIRC, but wasn't he a top prospect in our system? And yes, some top prospects do pan out. Some don't. Thats the way of the game.
