  1. Cute, Dwight Howard had a Kevin Love today as the Cavs reached 20 straight.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) My linking to it on the last page gets overlooked. Sad.
  3. Nope, Kevin Love sucks. He's up 3-0 in 30/20 games on the rest of the NBA. Your move, NBA. Oh, and for those that said something along the lines of Love never winning a game for you (Steve maybe? I don't remember all the stupid that gets said in here): he had 21 and 11 in the second half tonight, including 14 and 5 in the fourth quarter. 9-for-14 shooting, including 2-for-2 from three in the second half as a whole. Yeah, the Timberwolves lost, but this wasn't a case of Kevin Love not putting his team on his shoulders. It was a case of the rest of the team not doing their part.

    2011 Films Thread

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 05:17 AM) By this time tomorrow i will have completed what i consider the top 250 list on imdb. I only have a couple anime films left... for the record i shall not be watching nausicaä of the valley of the wind (number 250), as it just got added to the list very recently, and can be knocked off at any given moment. I will also not be watching the movie that sits at number 245. That movie would be three colors: red, which is the last part of the three colors trilogy by krzysztof kieslowski. Three colors: red also recently got added to the list, and it will be falling off any given day, so i won't be watching it. From 245 until 250 the movies fluctuates so often on the list... so i'm not gonna suddenly watch a film that just squeaked on, for it to be back off any day/week in the near future. WELL GOOD FOR YOU
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:51 AM) The Bulls also have the worst division in the NBA. Thank you for saying it so I didn't have to
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) It's hard to gauge anything without our two best big men. Boozer isn't durable? Say it ain't so!
  7. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jan 20, 2011 -> 12:39 AM) My first time watching Minnesota was tonight, that's some bad basketball right there. Blake Griffin however was so fun to watch, he's officially on my list of guys who I'd pay top dollar to see live. It was an ugly game for the Wolves. Most of our road games are like that.
  8. Blake Griffin's double-double streak is over. Kevin Love's streak, however, continues, despite entering the second half with 0 rebounds.

    2011 Music Thread

QUOTE (MEANS @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 12:10 PM) looking forward to new: (...) and hopefully Queens of the Stone Age I'd be happy with old, re-released QotSA. f***ing delays have put their self-titled re-release back another few months. Completely brand new QotSA (which is supposedly going to be worked on this year) would also be fantastic, however. QUOTE (MEANS @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) I appreciate the FF's work but he just needs to be behind the kit, he's just so dam good. I'm not the biggest Foo Fighters fan for this same reason. The self-titled album is solid (all Grohl, all the time), but I listen to most of the rest of their stuff and just want Grohl to put down the guitar and go crazy on another drum set. Which is just one of many reasons why I'm anxiously awaiting another Them Crooked Vultures album
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Losing two to the Bobcats really sucks. Tell me about it
  11. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 11:38 PM) I just feel like Orlando threw a lot of s*** against the wall and it stuck for 11 games. Now they've lost 3 of the last 4. Tough/close games, but that 11 game win streak was a bit of a mirage in my eyes. Tough/close games against very good teams on the road. Sometimes good teams lose. If we're going to start taking away from teams achievements for losing to good teams on the road, I suppose we shouldn't bother to mention the Bulls loss in Charlotte last week, or their back-to-back losses on the road earlier this month to New Jersey and Philadelphia Anyway, the Wolves game is mercifully over with yet another loss. I wish my team could beat up on crappy competition the way the Bulls have It really says something about his season that Love's 22 point, 17 rebound, 4 assist performance is considered is letdown.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 11:11 PM) They did have a .580 something SOS earlier in the year. I don't doubt it, but I'm just saying, as a whole, their schedule has been fairly easy so far. And the numbers back me up on that. Really, I don't even care and it doesn't really matter. All the schedule talk is an interesting tangent more than anything. As an impartial bystander, I do think Orlando is a better team that'll make more noise in the postseason than Chicago, especially after their trades. Chicago is a good team, and it's certainly possible that when they get fully healthy they'll reach a new level previously unseen, but I don't think they can be considered the elite in the Eastern Conference until their shooting guard situation gets fixed.
  13. QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 06:13 PM) You know who else has 27 consecutive going into tonight's game? And a league high 36 this year? 28 now, despite a fairly poor performance tonight Also, Jonny Flynn is simply not good at basketball.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) Umm, the Bulls had one of the toughest schedules in the league through about the 1st or 2nd week of December. 7-9 against teams above .500 according to ESPN and 21-4 against those below. Just based off of that alone, they're in the top half of the league in fewest games above .500+ teams. Hollinger's rankings has their SOS at .483, which is tied for 6th lowest in the league. That includes the .416 SOS of the last 25% of their games.
  15. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Although, I would say using Hollinger rankings in these two cases are absolutely ridiculous considering Orlando is a new team after the trades and Chicago has been playing without an all-star big man all season. Definitely a fair point, although Hollinger's rankings also point out how easy the Bulls schedule has been over the last 25 games (and over the season as a whole, for that matter). The Bulls have been playing great lately while shorthanded, but again, look at who they've played. They should be beating these teams, regardless of whether or not they have Noah.
  16. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Orlando is not better than the Bulls. That is hogwash. Hollinger's rankings would disagree.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 05:12 PM) I believe he's now recorded 27 consecutive double/doubles. You know who else has 27 consecutive going into tonight's game? And a league high 36 this year?

    2011 TV Thread

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) Without making this a religious debate, I, and I'm sure many others, get annoyed by entertainers praising God publicly. And obviously religious people are now getting annoyed that he flaunted his atheism. Given how often religious people flaunt their religion, there's no good reason for them to get pissed off about that.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 16, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) He's not a top 10 player which is the statement I thought was ridiculous. He's not close to a top 10 player. He has nice glamor stats, but he doesn't effect his team's performance nearly enough to be a top 10 player. Kevin Love can score a bit and grabs boards with little competition on the roster, but he's not going to ever go out there and win you a ballgame. I'm not disagreeing that he isn't a top 10 player in the league, but this is just an absurd statement made by someone who hasn't watched the Timberwolves at all. Also, your point about him not winning a ballgame for a team is also pretty hilarious, considering he did just that against Washington last week. 35 points, including 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and 13-of-18 overall. Not to mention 11 boards and 4 assists. That was with Beasley out on a bum ankle and no one else on the team scoring more than 16. He was also the only reason the Timberwolves had any chance at all when they played the Nuggets in Denver, and a HUGE reason why we outplayed San Antonio in two of the first three matchups against them this year (seriously, he averaged 24 and 19 against them this year.. absurd).
  20. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) This whole train of thought is getting beyond the point as well. Nit-picking about teams with Kobe or Jordan winning 38-40 games is beside the point. Those teams were still relatively competitive with them and awful supporting casts. The T-Wolves are on pace for 20.5 wins in a league where roughly half of the teams are varying degrees of awful. Plus while their roster in general stinks, they also have another pretty competent player/scorer in Michael Beasley (admittedly his D sucks too). That makes it really hard to argue that Love is a truly elite player when he's not having a huge impact on his team's wins. Even someone like Chris Bosh has been closer to the playoffs as the best player on his team, and no one talks about him being elite anymore. Chris Bosh also played on a team in a much weaker league/division. There's a reason the Wolves are ranked 22nd in Hollinger's power rankings right now. They are a much better team than the record says.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 09:37 AM) Love averages 3 more rebounds a game but Griffin basically does everything else better. Except shoot, which is a fairly big aspect of basketball.
