  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Bynum suspended 2 games for that flagrant foul. Fully deserved. That was as dirty as a play can be.
  2. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) My comparison wasn't for both as players, it was for the flagrant fouls. Bynum's was argubly worse IMO. Guess I should have pointed that out in my original post though. I don't think there's really a case for Brown's being a worse foul. At least he tried to block the ball, Bynum was just going for the knockdown. Of course, I'm fully prepared for the hordes of Bulls fans to rip Kwame a new asshole while vehemently claiming it's worse
  3. Andrew Bynum just committed one of the dirtiest fouls of the year against the Wolves. Beasley went up for a dunk, and instead of trying for the ball at all, Bynum lowered his shoulder and shoved him to the ground with his forearm while Beasley was defenseless mid-air. Bynum naturally got a flagrant two and was ejected, leaving the court to applause from the fans.

  5. Bulls are REALLY lucky that wasn't called a foul. (although the Pacers announcers were ridiculously homericious there )
  6. That was a hell of a finish to GMU/Nova

  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) If posting someone's name like that after a double-double is annoying, I'm really sorry. Imagine if I did it like 50 times or something. Couldn't care less, to be honest. People can post whatever the hell they want. If it makes you happy to post his name after he did something you deemed worthy, more power to you. Let the record show that I never posted Love's name after a measly 11-point, 16-rebound performance though. That's kid's play
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 08:37 AM) Won basketball games? oh, wait... Admittedly, I laughed
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 08:16 AM) ÖMER. ASIK. Congrats! He did something that Kevin Love has done (at the very least) 34 times this season.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 17, 2011 -> 09:57 PM) It's officially time to stop saying that Derrick Rose doesn't play defense or is a liability on defense, it's just flat-out not true anymore. We can replace it with "shoots too much" as his criticism
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont...r?urn=nba-wp184 Sterling is a real asshole. On the same note, but from a couple of months ago: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont...?urn=nba-304544
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) A streak only takes one bad game to end. Having someone steal as little as one rebound could have ended it. I can understand this logic to an extent, but it's not like he was squeaking by a lot of these games. He averaged 22 and 16 during the 53 games. Sure, there were some games that he barely got to double figures, but for the most part he was blowing past it with ease.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) That was the other part of "The Streak" that bothered me. ESPN essentially took an arbitrary date in time, and used that as the basis point to make this a headline story. By picking a date in the 70's they made this look as good as possible, instead of showing it at its true point in history. Fully agreed. The merger is a natural point to pick, but the way it was reported by a number of outlets really misled a lot of people about it. Steve Aschburner just wrote a good article on that topic, in fact: http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/stev...ls=iref:nbahpt1
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) Because he wouldn't be doing it if he was on a better team. He wouldn't be as individually dominant or as statistically dominant if he was on just about any other team in the NBA. Are you intentionally or accidentally ignoring the point where he doesn't get plays from him? I mean, he's getting used less than Carlos Boozer, and he's got one of the league's best point guards next to him.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) This is what is thought everytime that's posted when the dude puts up 17 points and 10 boards in a 20 point loss. That was never posted by me after a pedestrian 17 point, 10 board game. There's nothing special about those performances.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) Well yeah. Anything is more impressive when you're winning. But we're not talking about a 5 year old record that was broken. This was a 35 year old record. It's impressive anyway you slice it. It should be appreciated and not scrutinized. And the sad thing is if Love bolts for a better team when he's eligible everybody will say he's a b**** and a coward for not sticking with his original team. It's a no-win situation. For the record, Love didn't set a record and wasn't even close. No one is ever going to break Wilt's 227 game streak. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) (...) but he's not single-handedly going out there and winning you ballgames... ever. This post was better and much more accurate before your edit. Now you just sound stupid again, as he's done exactly that multiple times this season.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) I think the feeling is his numbers wouldn't be nearly as impressive if he played on a team that has other players. For example, if he had a Noah or Boozer playing next to him, Love's numbers would come down a decent amount. And I'd give this theory more merit if his usage rate was through the roof. If he were getting ridiculously inflated numbers because of the team he's on, then it would make sense that he'd be getting used a lot and having a lot of opportunities. Instead, he ranks 64th in the league in USG (22.69), way behind teammate Michael Beasley (28.08). In fact, if you consider this it makes his accomplishments even more impressive. He doesn't get plays drawn up for him. He'll get an occasional entry pass into the post and a mid-range hook, and sometimes he'll run a pick and roll or pick and pop with whoever the PG is at the time, but that's far from a regular occurrence. Love gets his points because he picks his spots and takes advantage of the opportunities he gets. He gets to the free throw line at a very high rate and converts them efficiently. These aren't things that would change if he were on a better team. Even if you ignore all of that and think that he's only getting stats because his team sucks, where do you think his numbers would be instead? 18 and 13? For one of the league's most efficient offensive players, that's still pretty goddamn good. Basically, if it were Michael Beasley putting up 28 and 10, I'd buy this argument and agree wholeheartedly. But Kevin Love? Watch him play, he's far from dominating the ball.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 09:06 AM) All the rest of us ask in response is that the Kevin Love fans can't get annoyed when we note that no matter how special his streak was, no matter whether or not the TWOlves are one of the best rebounding teams in the league, that streak was during a run of 13-40 by the team. That's a marvel in itself. That's more of a testament to how bad the team is, and yes, it is pretty amazing how bad the team is this year. Love averaged 22 and 16 during the streak, and the fact that the team didn't win games is amazing, but shouldn't take away from the quality of his performance.
  20. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 16, 2011 -> 07:19 AM) people can post whatever it is they want. The daily updates on Kevin Loves double doubles, and random articles about him floating around the internet that get posted in here are just super annoying. After the bulls and heat, Love is the most talked about story in this thread. Oh noes! You mean to tell me a player that's having one of the best individual seasons in the league is being TALKED about? That's just awful. I'm so incredibly sorry for posting anything about Kevin Love's historical individual performance this year. My bad. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 11:48 PM) It was a hypothetical. I was being heavily sarcastic. Darko is terrible.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) So if the Wolves called Forman up and said Love for Noah, what do you do? Anybody that's says they'd keep Noah is a bold-faced liar. I'm not exactly sure why the Wolves would do that when we've got DARKO. He's like manna from heaven.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) Yeah, well, it is a Chicago board, and Derrick Rose is the MVP of the Decade QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) Its a Wsox board, most people are Bulls fans and want to know about Drose lol. On top of that he is having a MVP type season and Bulls are tied for first in the East. Kevin Love is on Minnesota which sucks and nobody cares about lol..... That being said I'll give him props having a great season, just I'd be more impressed if he did that on a good team. Well sure, but can you really hate on someone for a poster doing the same thing with the team that he watches day in and out? Kevin Love's all we have. Let me enjoy it, damnit.
  23. QUOTE (qwerty @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Expound? The funny thing is if you replace "Kevin Love" with "Derrick Rose" in all the posts I make in this thread, you have essentially 90% of what everyone else (minus DBAHO) says in here
  24. Excellent! I'm glad you can be level headed and reasonable when deciding which players you like or dislike.
