  1. I know +/- is a terrible stat, but in last night's Timberwolves/Knicks game, Nate Robinson was -33 with four points on 1/10 shooting. Needless to say, the Wolves won and are now on a two-game winning streak!!! Playoffs, here we come
  2. I've been listening to a bunch of Ween lately, especially The Mollusk. I generally like most Ween anyway, but the Mollusk is a very good album. I think it's more accessible than some of their other music (especially Pure Guava), and makes for a very enjoyable listen. Buckingham Green is a great song, probably my favorite Ween song and one of my favorites from any band.
  3. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) In contrast, Minnesota's hard games are mostly out of the and I think people's impressions of MN will change quite a bit bu the end of the season. They should be able to rattle off a bunch of W's and I think have a great shot at making the NCAAs. Disagreed, but I'm pretty pessimistic. We've played like ass this year and will likely end the season without a signature win, save for beating Butler on a neutral court. Without Al Nolen, White or Mbakwe, we don't have much depth and frankly, don't have much talent. We haven't shown the ability to do anything on the road this year, and at this point, we have to be considered on the outside looking in.
  4. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) f***ing Hoffarber. He's the only reason we won that game. It's laughable how we act like we've never seen a 1-3-1 every time we play Northwestern. They do it to us every year, and yet nothing ever changes. We're lucky that we won that one, as Northwestern easily outplayed us in the second half.
  5. Ozzie is an idiot (and KW is a fool for encouraging him).
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) NO's D relies on turnovers. You said that wouldn't last. It's lasted until the ssuper bowl. I win. Even all the evidence points to you winning an argument with TRU, you still don't win. That's just how it works
  7. This is easily the most frustrating season of college basketball I've ever watched. Expectations were understandably high for this years team, but our inability to finish close games has really burned us consistently throughout the season. All of our losses (save for Purdue on the road) were games that we could/should have won, but somehow find a way to lose. Add on the fact that I was working on 5 hours of sleep at today's game and it makes for a pretty s***ty Saturday.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 01:02 PM) How did Minnesota lose this game? No contact at all on last play? Don't even get me started.
  9. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) I was thinking more along the lines of his wife . No but seriously I hate Jim Thome as a player and I don't think its any coincidence he has never been on a team to win it all. Same goes for Bonds, Sosa, McGwire etc. Home runs don't win championships, but hey that's just my opinion. And please don't get my started on his strikeouts and ground outs to second. I honestly don't think anyone has ever said something stupider on Soxtalk. And that's saying something.
  10. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) Kotsay @ 34>>>>>>>>>Thome @ 39/40 and its not even close in my opinion Are you drunk or just stupid? Even in his best year since 2004, Kotsay wasn't even close to the production that Thome gave us last year. The amount of crap Thome gets from Sox fans is downright embarrassing, and people who say that Kotsay is as good as (or better than) Thome should be embarrassed about their lack of basic baseball knowledge.
  11. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) It will come! Soon! I have no faith in Blizzard ever releasing a game. Starcraft: Ghost told me so.
  12. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) Or any RTS players out there? Just curious. Starcraft is one of the best games ever. It's a shame the SC2 is never going to come out.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) Sounds like grades. Could be gone for the year. Awesome. Al Nolen is having the same sorts of issues for the Gophers. If we lose him for the rest of the semester (which sounds like a real possibility), we can kiss our slim tournament hopes goodbye.
  14. Gee, Royce White practiced with the team today. Who's surprised?

    Spring Semester '10

Tennis Rock and Roll 2 New Telecommunications Media Personal Leadership in the U Intro to Human Resource Development Yeah, it's going to be an awesomely easy last semester for me.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) Similar in quality to The Raconteurs? I like their sound more than the Raconteurs, but I've only listened to Broken Boy Soldiers. Give these a listen if you're interested:
  17. f***ing embarrassing. Awful game for the Gophers, terrible effort defensively and we deserved to lose. There was some awful officiating in this as well, some of the worst I've seen in a long time. Indiana should also be embarrassed about their fanbase. They just rushed the court after being an unranked team. Great job, f***heads.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) All the main players are kinda busy right now succeeding at their own things. Nate Fillion has 'Castle', Adam Baldwin has 'Chuck', Morena Baccarin is the face of 'V' and Alan Tudyk made that cell phone commercial with Dule Hill (if they were to revisit a Firefly tv show it'd have to take place between the end of season 1 and Serenity, the current ages of the actors would make it odd (River) but Firefly without Wash would be disappointing as hell.) I think I remember reading that if they ever did more episodes/movies for the Firefly series, they'd focus on Shepard Book's earlier days or something with the bounty hunter at the end of the episodes. I agree that they'd need to include Wash in it somehow, as the show wouldn't be the same without him. I saw Jewel Staite on SyFy (also: is there a stupider name for a channel?) late last night and did a double take. It was the first time I'd seen her in another role other than Kaylee, so I was pretty confused. It was just Stargate Alantis though

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Pretty sure that ship has sailed. If anything I think he would only make another movie I know, but I can dream, can't I? He did work with Fox after they screwed him with Firefly to make Dollhouse. Never say never!
  20. Purdue is choking hard here at the end. Looks like Northwestern is going to hold on by bunch, unless Purdue can stage a miracle comeback and start making shots in the final minute of play.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) Honestly, i think the Spider-man reboot is something that Joss Whedon needs to get his hands on. It's almost the perfect fit for his writing style and might get him some play with the public at large. He needs to make more Firefly episodes first.
  22. Anyone listen to the Dead Weather? Just listened to Horehound last night, and it's pretty good. I generally enjoy most of Jack White's projects and this is no different. Feels a lot like the White Stripes, but I really like the vocalist (Alison Mosshart). I definitely suggest it to anyone who enjoys White's various other projects.
  23. QUOTE (SnB @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) the ONLY thing i miss since switching to a mac is winamp. It really kicks the llama's ass
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) EDIT: Does anyone not use iTunes? I don't. I think it's a s***ty program. I use either Winamp or foobar. Just installed Windows7 this morning, so my list is nonexistent. I'm sure there would be plenty of Zappa on there if it were intact, though
  25. Gophers lost to Michigan State on the road tonight 60-53. It was actually a close game throughout, and while Michigan State kept threatening to run away with it, the Gophers continued to keep it close and even got within 3 with a little over a minute left. Unfortunately, Hoffarber was completely ineffective tonight, which really kept our offense quiet throughout the game. Ralph Sampson, Al Nolen and Damian Johnson all had good games, while Westbrook did his standard 15 points, 5 turnovers, 1 assist. It would have been nice to win, but I didn't think we'd keep it close, so I guess that's a plus. And I just realized while looking at the box score, our bench scored 3 points all night and didn't make a single field goal. That's pretty pathetic.
