Gophers beat Duluth tonight 114-47. Damian Johnson was his typical awesome self with 16 points, 10 boards, four assists, seven steals and three blocks. This was the first time I've ever seen the Gophers score 100 and probably the last, but it was pretty damn enjoyable. Duluth had more turnovers than points well into the second half, they couldn't do anything. Which was expected, it was exhibition -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:51 AM) Why do you assume Teahan wouldn't play 3rd? Personally I hope he doesn't play 3rd. He's awful there and doesn't hit nearly well enough to make up for it.

QUOTE (Cali @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:10 AM) Not to continually armchair quarterback this thing, but i also believe the list needs to be broken up by decade. Cause it's kind of unfair that Green Day and Nirvava etc. are going up against Dylan and The Beatles etc. Seems like there's gonna be a big generational gap in this list. Nirvana made my list and was fairly high. Green Day, on the other hand, wouldn't have been in my top 250
-
Teahan is a butcher in the field (according to the numbers, can't say I've seen him all that much with my eyes) and an average bat. I can't say I'm too excited about this deal, but I haven't looked at it all that closely. That being said, they had nearly identical WARs last year while Getz was a rookie, so.. yeah.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) The Celtics look awfully good right now. When Rasheed Wallace is your 6th man, you've got a squad. They didn't look awfully good last night Wolves almost knocked them off last night and if they hadn't looked completely incompetent in the final minute (I know, it's expected given the nature of this season), they would have beaten them. I've got some questions about the reffing which missed some really obvious calls last night, but you can't blame a loss on the refs. Oleksiy Pecherov had a career night with 24 points on 9/14 shooting that kept us in the game, something tells me that won't be happening every night

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 08:00 AM) wow, the Pirates actually made a trade that might look to be in their favor! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4228972 http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4364832

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) It was a record label thing, Parliament and Funkadelic were the same band, same lineup, recording under two different names on two different labels.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) I can agree with Earth, Wind, & Fire, Parliament Funkadelic, even the Commodores or Kool & The Gang, but I don't want modern non-rock singers/bands in the list. Technically two different bands, and damnit, I forgot about both of them. I'm ashamed of myself They're both George Clinton bands and I think they both played shows together, but they both have their own catalog of music (although I suppose it looks like Rolling Stone has lumped them together in top band lists before, so maybe that works too)
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) Four Tops and Cooke are R&B; not rock. R&B was part of the reason rock today sounds the way it does, I think it'd be pretty silly to exclude it.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) pretty sure Zappa, I assume you mean Frank Zappa, would not make my top 200....im listening to his stuff now are you guys joking around??? IMHO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNHLywCfnHI> Zappa sorry guys It's not my fault you have a bad taste in music QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) ELO is great, and this reminds me that I left them off of my list...Rush, too. Rush was definitely on my list. I think they came in at the 10-15 range. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) Alone in the hissing laboratory of his wishes, Mr Pugh Felix minces among bad vats and jeroboams, spinneys of murdering herbs, and mixes for Mrs Pugh Felix a venomous porridge unknown to toxicologists which will scald and viper through her until her ears fall off like figs, her toes grow big and black as balloons, and steam comes screaming out of her navel. You are awesome. No questions asked. On that note, the You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore series are some of my favorite live albums ever. Very good stuff

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 09:50 AM) wonder if ill match anyone, anyone here listen to hardcore stuff?? Or am i the only 22 year old here that doesnt listen to the radio? I'm a 22 year old that never listens to the radio, but that's mostly because the radio plays crap (i.e. not Zappa). I mean, I do listen to other things, but when you have 1147 tracks of one artist and the next closest artist is at 373 tracks, you're going to tend to listen to that top artist a little bit (yes, I'm sick)

Our top recruit Royce White got arrested for shoplifting at the Mall of America and then assaulting a cop. Add in a JUCO addition in Trevor Mbakwe who also isn't starting the season with the team due to assault charges, and things are getting pretty ridiculous for the Gophers. Devron Bostick was also suspended indefinitely for rules violations, but no more information was given. So yeah, not the way this season was supposed to start -
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) I did too, but in my mind that includes the Experience stuff, band of Gypsies, and solo/mixed lineup groups. Same.
-
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) Incidentally, I had Mothers of Invention in the top 10.... Hopefully they're considered the same as Frank Zappa. I probably should have had him on my list as The Mothers of Invention, but instead I just had him as FZ so his post-Mothers years were also included
-
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 02:13 PM) I would assume so, and Chucklehead just missed my list. Sly and the Family Stone ftw!
-
Does funk count as rock? I'm going to assume yes while putting this list together
-
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) Also at #1 on my list. And I have already sent my lsit to Ni so he can confirm. FZ! Woo! Maybe he'll sneak into the top 20 just because of our #1 votes (probably not )
-
I can guarantee I'm the only one who puts Frank Zappa at #1 (although Jim might have him on his list)

Wolves barely got edged out by the Clippers in LA tonight, losing 93-90. Jonny Flynn had a great first quarter but was fairly quiet after that. Regardless, he's a lot of fun to watch and it's going to be fun watching him develop throughout this year. Big Al scored 24 and showed signs of life in the second half, which is encouraging given his rough few games to start the season.
-
Wolves lost tonight in Phoenix, not surprisingly. They actually made a game of it near the end, which is always good to see in a season like this one. Big Al had by far his best game to date, while both Ryan Gomes and Corey Brewer had nice games as well.

I was a TV evangelist.. fully enjoyed it
-
So the Timberwolves aren't as good as the Cavs. Surprise surprise
-
QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 09:44 AM) Watching this year's ROY is always exciting. They do have some nice young talent coming in the organization. I still don't get why Sessions was signed to sit on the bench, to me he should be starting. If the team was more confident in him playing alongside Jonny Flynn, I imagine he would be starting. But it comes down to the fact that Flynn needs the playing time more than Sessions, and he's going be starting and getting the majority of minutes at point. The team is willing to sacrifice wins for experience for the younger guys, and it should be fun to watch their development.

So the coaches like Minnesota, but the AP doesn't. No surprise there, they'll come around soon enough. -
