  1. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 03:37 AM) I know he's sucking now, but honestly, they wouldn't of picked him up if Coop didn't see something he couldn't tweak ala Danks, Floyd, Thornton, etc. Coop has nothing to do with personnel decisions. Thornton was the exception, not the rule.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) If you have, say, a nationwide restaurant chain, are you going to run the exact same ads during Dancing with the Stars as you would during music videos on BET? No, but that doesn't mean you won't try to save money by altering the commercial rather than re-shooting it.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) Is it that hard to just take a new picture with 3 white people in it? What difference would it make?
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) that is such a hilariously bad photoshop job. They even left the black models hand The entire body is the same. I guess that's why the white guy's head looks out of proportion.
  5. Well the thread title is clearly inaccurate. I don't see the problem. Every ad in every market is designed to appeal to those in the market. Hell, ads in NY City will look different than those in upstate NY. Why take a completely different picture when the outcome will be the same?
  6. No more PHT for me until the end of the season. Feels like a circus in there.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 05:43 PM) Don't accidentally purchase this instead. People get confused with the 2. I already have that.
  8. Doesn't look like Peavy will pitch. Cowley reports his tweet on the Score that he felt pain and will likely be shut down for the week. This is the result of being hit by the liner.
  9. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 11:10 PM) A side-by-side comparison of the two would be enjoyable (witbier is absolutely a favorite style for me). It has been at least a year since I've had the Witte, but I do remember that the exclusive use of sweet orange rather than bitter orange in the gruit and a lack of discernible lactic tang made the beer just a tad less memorable than some other versions. I think Allagash also still uses exclusively raw red winter wheat (an unbelievably tough ingredient to brew with, as I can tell you from personal experience with a few stuck mashes), whereas Witte uses a lot of malted wheat in the grain bill. I don't really think i can tell a taste difference based on the wheat choice, but I give the authenticity nod to Allagash. Again, though, until I can try them side-by-side, I'll reserve final judgement. Man, I wish you could have tried Austin's original Celis White. The first authentic witbier most Americans ever experienced, formulated by the Godfather of Wit and brewed by his daughter, tasting that beer for the first time was an epiphany. I have yet to track down any of Michigan Brewing Company's interpretation of Celis, sadly, so I'm not sure how close they have come to the original. Thirsty for witbier now, with none on hand. . . Well I've been under the assumption that Hoegaarden was the benchmark authentic white (Celis as well, right?). Witte is closer to Hoegaarden than Alagash which is far fruitier. Allagash is closer to what I expect from a hefe rather than a white which is why I take Witte over Allagash if I'm looking for a white. It also makes it interesting to see that you think Allagash is more authentic. Do you mean authentic based on taste, or on ingredients? As stated, I thought whites were less fruity because of less "adjunct" use where hefes would contain more "adjunct." (Adjunct is probably not the right word since it is traditional to the style, but whatever).
  10. hmmm...what is it about the word "uvula" that makes me think of the word "clitoris"?
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) I can't see them for some reason. Somethings up because they aren't showing up all the time.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) I agree. I've been to both the Ommegang and Allagash breweries and tried them fresh. I like both but the Allagash is the better of the two. I'll take Witte over Allagash White any day, although they had it on tap in Maine and it was pretty damn good. But Allash Dubbel is far superior to Abbey Ale. Both are nice breweries, I guess it's just what I'm in the mood for.
  13. Had my first Allagash Curieux while in Maine. Damn that is some fine beer. Also had the Black, which was nice, but nothing special. The Curieux was nice with some fresh clams.
  14. 26 Someone named "Dan" claims to be 92.
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 04:38 PM) I've been there and I remember that place. If you get caught there, there's very little anyone can do very quickly. It took 30 minutes for the Coast Guard to arrive by boat. There was no helicopter on the island.
  16. Notice the cliffs in the background. That's water splashing up the cliff. That had to be about 50-100 feet high. I just like that pic.
  17. I'm trying to get some pics up, but they are too large to upload.
  18. The thing about the waves is that their height is due to the shape of the rocks beneath the water as opposed to above. Also, we were heading into high tide which caused the situation to become dangerous fairly quickly. I have pictures of people sitting high on the rocks, then 10 minutes later, they were running from the water. All that said, the area these people went in was the most dangerous area and it didn't take a park ranger to figure that out.
  19. Yeah, we could see three in the water. We didn't know about the other injuries. Not 5 minutes after we saw them, a wave came and we could only see 2. Turned out that young girl died. I don't know how 2 made it out. The waves were 10-15 feet high and the water was around 60 degrees.
  20. In case people didn't know, there's was a tragedy in Accadia National Park where 3 people were swept into the water by waves as told in this story. I was actually there, and was among the group that first alerted the rangers that people were in the water. They were no more than 100 yards in front of us and there was nothing we could do. Pretty awful feeling. We have some great pics from that day. It was really beautiful before everything turned bad. There were actually very few warnings about the waves despite what the rangers say.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) I've had Bell's cherry stout but I just walked away with what I usually do: I don't like cherry. Same problem for me. If you've ever had Ommegang Three Philosophers it's the same issue. Everyone seems to love 3 Philosophers but I can't stand it. Interestingly, I like real cherries. But in drinks, it all tastes like Tylenol.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) Flaxx and G&T, Any of you tried Xingu? It's a black ale from Rio De Jineiro I quite like. Comparable to Rogue's Dead Guy, if that's your bag. I have not had Xingu, but that's a schwartbier which I do enjoy. Nothing goes with hot dogs like schwartbier. I know, I'm sophisticated.
