  1. Nineteen ninety-three called and wants its phrase back.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 4, 2009 -> 03:46 AM) Both Det and Min win. Game 163 on Tues in Min - Min wins. Detroit burns. I don't know if they both win, but the rest I agree with. Goes well with the "Detroit does what the Sox did the year before, but slightly worse."
  3. QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 12:30 AM) funny but im retired and i live in a beach house in the philippines so between going boating and fishing theres baseball . anyway yeah i know konerko is another white sox player we need to keep can you tell me why ? i can tell you why not So basically you live my dream life. Except replace "boating and fishing" with "drinking heavily."
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) I kind of wish all the people who didnt support Chicago would move to Rio. Its such a joke to sell out your own city, I just cant stand disloyalty. I dont care if you hate Daley, hate the Olympics, you should represent for your home no matter what. Its shameful and now Chicago looks like an international joke. International joke? I don't think 99% of the world cares.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) wow, did we really out shoot them 55-24 and lose???? ouch! I don't know a lot about hockey, but Huet didn't look good at all during that shoot out.
  6. The question isn't fair. We don't go to the moon without a certain political environment (Cold War). Without propaganda, and the lack of information to know better (internet), none of the great American acts of unity happen. The politics of today aren't significantly different than before, the difference is that we are FAR more informed and don't always know what to do with that information.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) Chicago wont make another bid is my guess, it was a 1 time opportunity. My guess is LA or NY win the 2020 games. After this, I'd be shocked if any American city tries any time soon. NY just got beat badly for 2012, and now Chicago, despite the President being there, finished 4th. That's not a good sign.
  8. QUOTE (Nixon @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) I think a lot of credit goes to Madrid's bid making this difficult rather than any deficiency in the American bid. Credit goes the the former IOC president and his "death bed plea." It's weird. I don't care that Chicago didn't get it, but it bothers me that they were eliminated first, as if it makes any difference.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) ABC has been laying it all on anti-Americanism in the IOC. Well it's the truth. If Chicago lost in the last round, then you can blame the bid, or the city. But to lose in the first round despite one of the best bids being put together and support from the president? There's more to it then Chicago's credentials.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) How'd they get eliminated FIRST? Not trying to busterize this, but there are countries who won't vote for America right now, Obama or not.
  11. There is nothing more Chicago that losing a competition involving sports.
  12. I think the public sentiment was so obviously against this that nothing could overcome it.
  13. For anyone either watching or listening on the Score, is this just a rules reading? I though someone was eliminated at this point.
  14. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) Sure, but you figure that's stuff you leave behind once you finally get married and start a family. I think the relationship with the woman was one of occasional co-habitation for the last 20 years, I believe. He didn't marry her until very recently. He's been sleeping around for a while it seems.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 08:34 AM) well now he can run for gov/senate That's good because this might be the end of him on TV. It will be very interesting to see how CBS handles this because I think he is actually beating Conan in the ratings which gives him some equity. But this is not the type of thing employers like to hear.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 11:14 PM) No, but he married his long time partner with whom he fathered (presumably) a child. Yeah, there were pictures of her this morning on Today. She's not a looker.

    i am drunk in 2009

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:31 AM) Ladies and gentlemen of soxtalk. I want to ass this question my friends. what do you do when your takin a giant dump and an anaconda the size of cecil fielders left booby comes up through the toilet bowl and bites your left buttocks? 1. I don't liked being assed. 2. Be happy it didn't grab sack.
  18. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 11:25 PM) asshole, I'll be as old as BigEd, YASNY, and FlaSoxxJim At that point, you'll basically hate everything and then forget that it happened. So the Olympics really don't pertain to you.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 10:27 PM) Ya, I'll be 30 when it hits. Generally I would love to see everything (especially the beautiful women tourist flocking in ) but I'll be old, busted and maybe even married. Being 30 doesn't hurt getting women, especially if you make money. Marriage is sort of a problem. I'll be married in a year, so that's a guarantee for me.
  20. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) Fuller's ESB is my wife's favorite bottled British ale that we get here. I'm a London Pride person but I like the ESB as well. I adore English ale and only wish we had the cask real ale here. Two weeks pub crawling around the UK was pretty much beer Nirvana for me. As far as draught keg ale here in the states, there's a handful of pubs that try to approximate the carbonation level of cask ale by serving the keg beers from a beer engine (hand pump) under blanket carbonation. It goes a long way to softening the character of the beer but it's still not the real deal. There's a place here called Mahars which serves real cask condition ales. A very rare find. Unfortunately, the bar kinda sucks. As far as macros: Blue Moon Miller Lite And I just found out that Mich Ultra tastes like Miller Lite
  21. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) I love the city of Chicago and I love the Olympics. Tomorrow could be a greater day that October 26, 2005. Not for me.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) If you like Scottish Ales (which I do as well, obviously), another one I found in Chicago that was quite good: Stone of Destiny Ale, from the Lia Fail brewery in Scotland. I've not had it, but I'll take a look for it. This got me thinking, I don't spend a lot of time looking through the English and Scottish beer sections at the bottle shop even through traditional English ales are very good. I'll have to make some changes. Although, Fullers ESB is a favorite with steaks or burgers.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 1, 2009 -> 12:20 PM) Anyone know where to get some Don Q rum around Chicago? Binny's website says they have it.
