    eBay

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Oct 18, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) saying that he didnt receive it. i just find it fishy, when someone files a dispute 6 actual days (not 6 business days, probably 4 business days) after shipping. Especially when the auction lists the delivery time as being 4-11 business days. I'd find it fishy too. I think he probably did want to re-sell and it came too late. Since he never told you to sent it faster because he wanted to re-sell, he has to pay you if he got it. So he probably lied and said he never got it.

Call the post office and see if there is any chance they can track whether it was delivered even without confirmation. They probably won't, but it's worth a shot. Also, is he saying that it wasn't delivered or that it was delivered too late?
  3. Union and Trinity are still there, but, given that we really went for the seafood in Newport, I didn't go to either so I'll reserve comment. Ratebeer doesn't give either high marks (though Union appears to be better known for their food), but that site seems to be overly critical. If I ever make it back there, which I probably will since it's only 3 hours from me (closer than Boston), I'll make a better beer trip. I also want to hit up a beer store in Springfield, MA, which has a much larger selection of California and Belgian beers than I can get in Albany. Specifically, Struise and Lost Abbey.
  4. So yesterday we went to Newport and Providence, RI for the day. Those are really cool places. Newport is extremely touristy, but I can't complain when I'm a tourist. Unfortunately, not a lot of beer going on in Newport. There are a few places with good beer menus, but we didn't have time to hit them up. Nevertheless, we happened upon a seafood festival out on the warf with fresh oysters, clams, mussels, chowdah, everything. It was sponsored by Sam Adams. They were serving offerings from the Harvest Collection, but I stuck with the Octoberfest as I didn't realize they had the dunkleweizen until we were about the leave. In any event, the buildings in Newport look like they are out of the 1700's, which most are. There are still narrow cobblestone streets and colonial buildings. It is one of the few places I've been where you can place yourself in the time of the revolution. After grabbing a half dozen oysters for $5(!), and a cold one, we sat outside in the 45 degree New England air and ate about the freshest seafood you can ever have at the absolute cheapest price imaginable. I have no real reason for telling this except that, sometimes, the whole scene comes together. Great food, good beer, and savoring it unadorned. No restaurant can ever match that moment. We then went to Providence and took a ghost tour (hey it's Halloween). The tour was sorta retarded, but interesting information. I'd love to go back. One of the coolest looking cities I've been to. It's like an even smaller, more compact, but just as beautiful form of Boston.
  5. Apparently, according to FoxNews articles, they took their kids with them when storm chasing. So they have no problem putting them in harm's way. link

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Google you say? Sounds useful, I think I'll look it up on the Internet. Wait...internet? Is that like "e-mail"?

I think it's "Husband and Knives." Season 19, Episode 7. I've never seen it, but Googling is good for stuff.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) That comment was made months ago, and no one even knows for sure whether he was serious or not. The point is is that these guys measure themselves at least partially by how much money they make. Remember, these are spoiled-rotten guys that have had things handed to them all their lives due to their ability. Whether something is fair or not, or whether a guy chose to sign a contract in the past is often of no matter to them. It's simply about who makes what and how does that compare to my peers. I'm not saying certain players of ours are like this, especially not Gavin. I'm just pointing out that these squabbles come up fairly often and I think it would be best to try and keep Danksy and Gavin on a fairly similar salary plane. The Chicago papers said he was joking and nobody made a stink about it. The national outlets tried to turn it into a story. There's no story there.
  9. Can Orton be any luckier? Throws into sextuple coverage, ball is tipped, and the one Bronco catches it. Unreal
  10. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 01:19 AM) Homer was probably disappointed that Maude Flanders didn't make the cover. I don't know if she had much of a shot, considering she's dead.
  11. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) I actually never did the Columbia House thing, but my brother did, and yeah, it's a long-term commitment. They just never had enough current music that I liked, and would have to buy eventually, to justify grabbing some back catalog for a penny. But I do remember the first three albums (YES, albums, you whippersnappers) I bought with my own money. Kiss Alive Van Halen debut album Cheap Trick At Budokan (import double-album....at Sears....for 25 bucks in 1978!) That's like $80 today.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) Not really he is saying that he doesn't believe that guys can perform better in bigger spots but that he does believe they can perform worse in big spots. That's fair.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) There is no such thing as clutch, but there is such a thing as a guy who doesn't perform in big spots, and it's hard to argue with the numbers for A-Rod in the 2005, 2006, and 2007 playoffs. IIRC he hit well in the 2000 and 2004 playoffs though, so it's not like he's NEVER done it. Sounds contradictory.
  14. Back off the wagon. I've been pretty sober lately due to a really bad cold. Today I have an Oskar Blues Old Chub scotch ale. It's a perfectly dreary day for a robust beer like this one. The 8% is getting to me very quickly, however. I also have a sixer of Victory Moonglow, and the Stingo. I'm slowly getting to it.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) Supposedly tripped while rounding 2nd, got tagged off the base and did so before Delmon Young could score. Yeah, I saw the replay. I'd have to see it again, but I don't think he looked at the 3rd base coach before rounding the base.
  16. What's crazy is that I live just outside Troy, NY, very close to Hoosick Falls, and Matthew Tully (of that law firm cited) taught one of my law school classes. Interestingly, nobody at that firm is a "legal expert" at anything. They actually call the papers and get themselves put into the news to drum up business. Pretty smart actually. Anyway, unfortunately, kids have to be smarter than this. I realize that he meant no harm, but this is really not a shocking decision, although the 15 days is excessive. I'd hope that West Point sees past it.
  17. Gomez might be the dumbest player in baseball. Although, I don't know what happened there.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) They would, but they also have other needs. They have as long of a list of FA's out of their regular players as anyone I can think of. Abreu, Lackey, Figgins, Darrin Oliver, Vlad. Vlad won't be back. The rest will be harder. But I wouldn't doubt that they pay Abreu.
  19. I wonder if they sell small bottles of the stuff. It looks pricey.
  20. Yeah I hate licorice flavor. Tough call. My fiance had, I think, in England a while back. She hates the flavor so it doesn't seem like a sell to her.
  21. I want to try absinthe, but I have some block that makes me believe that something strange will happen. Anyone ever try it?
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) Chip Carey just said, "It's hard to believe Phil Hughes is still just 23." I know Hughes has been awesome out of the pen, but so? Has he done something so great in his career that would lead you to believe he is older? Does he have a bunch of accomplishment under his belt? I don't get it. I'm pretty certain I heard him say Cabrera has played in the division series for the Angels, Red Sox, Yankees, and Rays.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) couldnt find it in the thread, does anybody know what the actual MLB rule is regarding HBP??? Does it actually have to hit the player? Or can it hit the jersey and not the player and still be a called HBP?? Maybe Marsh saw it graze the jersey but knew it didnt actually touch Inge and so he didnt call it... The jersey is part of the player's body. So it is a HBP if it hits the jersey. The problem is that Inge wears a huge jersey so the ball wasn't really that close to him as compared to other players. Since it barely grazed the jersey, I can understand not seeing it hit. Remember, the ball is going 90mph and the batter is turning. It's not an easy call unless you can hear it hit the jersey, which would be difficult in the dome with all the people.
