  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) Without Thome in the middle of the order, your going to have one massive string of right handed hitters. Is that something the Sox are willing to do? Maybe you can move Thome to the 5th spot, but as long as he's in the lineup they are going to have him somewhere near the middle of the order because of his ability to get on base and the fact that he's the only left handed bat in the lineup that projects as a middle of the order hitter (AJ does not). And Wise, forget about it. Unfortunately you are correct about that.
  2. Z has given up what? 4 or 5 homers today?
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) watching the yankee game during the breaks - something weird is going on, BUNCH of empty seats behind home plate. The Mets had to auction off the most expensive seats for their home opener because nobody was buying. The Yankees and Mets picked bad times to open billion dollar parks. Not that it'll really affect them.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) He was late on three identical low-90s fastballs from Balfour. I agree, Big Jim is toast. This was the same as people said last year. Thome will be fine if he's healthy. That said, he has to be moved from the 4 spot.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) I think either AA or United offers a section with a few more inches of room for extra cash. As far as the extra ticket for heavy people, I maybe can understand it, but they had a show "Airline" on a few years ago which basically showed Southwest in action and the humility the people who were told they would need to purchase another ticket went through was heartbreaking to me. I'm not fat, 6'5", 208 lbs. of rompin', stompin' in your face dynamite, and sometimes wonder what people who can hardly breath or walk are doing when they are throwing down a large deep dish pizza, but heavy people are victims of prejudice as it is. If you ever watched "Airline", you would see how humiliating the extra charge is. I would even say mean. If the seats were made for anyone but an average sized human in 1960, I may sympathize with the airline. I agree on what you're saying here. I don't have a problem with them charging extra as a general statement because I hate having a giant person invading my space. However, most of the people I see are simply tall and wide. Not fat, just broad shouldered. Are they charged as well? Probably not. And, yes, the seats are too small as it is. I'm 5'10'' and 145 lbs. That's about as small a male human being can be in the US. My shoulders are wider than the seat. There's something seriously wrong with that.
  6. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 01:05 AM) Vermont is fun in the summertime, lots of easy hiking - and the ability to basically get a ski lodge all to yourself for something like 50 dollars a night make it worth visiting. I used to head up that way around Labor Day every year for some hiking and relaxing. This is a great point. It really depends on what you are looking for. In the summer, Maine has more to do than Vermont, but will also be more crowded. Also, the Kennebunks are supposed to be beautiful, though very expensive.
  7. Getz hasn't been very good, but he is young (unlike Wise) and should be given a chance to work through it. He is making contact, but unless he gets that his top hand working he is going to hit fly balls. His last two AB's were good.
  8. Ball 4 wasn't even close. I guarantee they can score with the bases loaded.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) Getz had no chance on that grounder...he played it pretty well. Speed kills On the replay he really didn't bobble it that bad. Iwamura is that fast. And now he steals despite a pick off. What a mess.
  10. Bartlett steals second.. Getz bobbles easy grounder. 1st and 3rd. 1 out.
  11. Rays broadcast reliving last year's Cliff Floyd moment off Linebrink.
  12. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) I remember it constantly being discussed how dangerous a combination Dye-Thome-Konerko can make in the lineup. It also has to be one of the (if not THE) slowest 1-2-3 punches in the entire MLB. Yeah, in 2006 it was discussed. And it was dangerous. And will likely be dangerous.
  13. QUOTE (tommy @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:09 PM) I rather have Dye batting 4th then Thome. Me too.
  14. QUOTE (tommy @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) Why is Thome hitting cleanup? Wasn't it Dye batting 4th all year last year? No.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Did AJ Just steal a base? Yes, but only because he got hit in the head with the ball and it bounced away.
