QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:35 AM) I posted this about 4 pages ago, but there was a flurry of posts and I think it's worth reposting... on AM 1000 Canseco was specifically asked about Frank Thomas and he said, paraphrased, "I can't say, it was the steroid era." That means he has no clue, which honestly is the best anyone can expect from that era.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) I believe so, but I can't give you specifics. I know people said the hip injury he had could have been a tip off. Not to mention the roid rages.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:00 AM) Canseco can forget a lot of things if you give him some money. So are you saying that Frank Thomas has paid off Canseco not to talk?
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 7, 2009 -> 08:57 AM) Frank wasn't even with the team when Canseco joined, that's why they signed Canseco because Frank was hurt. Jose wasn't here for long, Canseco is a hell of a detective if he can be in clubhouse for a month or two and come away from it definitively knowing the cleanliness of all his teammates. He seems to know the cleanliness of a lot of players he didn't play with.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) Actually, we really haven't heard it like this in baseball. Most of the other high-profile players have been proven to have been using steroids. Not something their doctor provided that is now banned because MLB went and banned everything carried in the GNC as an overreaction to the events of the past 5-10 years. Why is it that this happens in the NFL and no one blinks an eye? So now Manny is no longer the best hitter of his generation? I'm not buying it. Because fans don't care about numbers and stats in football.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2009 -> 08:28 AM) Read through the actual LA Times article. My question was in relation to a comment about Pujols. Not Ramirez.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 7, 2009 -> 08:26 AM) Whose to say he wasn't on steroids too? Everything we saw seems to be a farce anyways, nothing would surprise me anymore. The only reason I trust Frank is because he was the only guy to talk to Congress about it voluntarily. Thomas, Jr., and Thome are about the only guys I hold out hope for. And if they come out as PED users, then I'll be sad, although it wouldn't entirely surprise me.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2009 -> 08:22 AM) That's it! I'm f***ing done! Albert Pujols? I know this isn't fair. But I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that he's a cheater as well. Why the hell not at this point? Did Jose Canseco say he was? I honestly don't remember.

I don't get it. Is there a reason he would be positive now rather than in previous seasons? If he's going to take something, why would he take something on the banned list?

QUOTE (shipps @ May 7, 2009 -> 07:38 AM) Uhhhh yes he uhhhh is uhhhh And for Holmes to always refer to him as an icon and legend is exhausting. Zach Zaidman is in for Holmes today. ZZ finished one of Hampton's sentences because he couldn't spit out Gavin Floyd's name. That was followed by 5 seconds of awkward silence.
-
In case anyone didn't notice, Dan Hampton is really terrible on the radio.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) Should have written it more clearly...Rowand refused to work with Gary Ward in Chicago (I think Walker was in AAA at that that) and had a great relationship with Walker after he was promoted (to Chicago, to take Ward's job) and then called to ask for his help when he was struggling and getting booed early in his Phillies' career. I don't know if that's true. There was an article with Rowand saying that Walker was one of his best friends but implied that the Phillies' hitting coach taught a "feel" rather than mechanical approach which was way better for him. In fact, this was the bizarre quote where Rowand called Greg Walker was the best hitting coach, but that his swing was better with Milt Thompson.

Just finished business organizations. Praying that went alright. Just one final left in law school: advanced evidence.

QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 5, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) once again...2 words: Derrick Rose. maybe we shoulda put him in some minors.. how the heckel you know somebody isnt a superstar in the makings? like MLB pitchers are so overpowering...what are you all afraid of? he is going to botch groundballs? we already do that... maybe NEVER be clutch or go in slumps? we already do that... SOMEBODY PLEASE BACK UP WHY HE ISNT READY YET. GIVE SOME CONCRETE REASONS! He was in the minors. In basketball, that's called college.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 5, 2009 -> 01:24 AM) I just wish we could hit the f***ing ball on a consistent basis. Even last year we were jeckyll and hyde offensively. I know we did fine overall in runs scored. But it's maddening to watch us make out after out and like the other night when we went station to station on singles. If we are a home run hitting team again, I guess I wish we'd hit more f***ing home runs. We are pretty anemic. This is because no one will cut their swing and go the other way. I used to defend Greg Walker and blame the hitters, which I still sorta do. But there is no excuse for a pitcher exposing the low and outside hole in every swing, for the last THREE YEARS. And it's not even like the swings are close. No one bends their knees and tries to foul it off or go to the opposite field. The just take a normal cut and miss by 3 feet. The only reason I don't entirely blame Walker is because these are power hitters and they know how to hit home runs. But these guys should realize that there is another aspect to hitting and try to learn it so they aren't exposed by the same damn hole. The reason this really pisses me off is because of learning hitting skills other than power, KW believes he needs speed guys to balance the lineup. So instead of getting good players he gets bad ones who can't hit anything but can run fast. But they all have the same hole.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 4, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Catfish threw a chicken slider, best I ever seen. Well the chicken slider era was totally different than the non-chicken slider era. Truly, one of baseball's lost arts.

The Sox are making studying for finals much easier than usual. I've noticed that Harrison and Greinke really exposed that low and away zone on the Sox. Happy to see that gaping hole is still uncorrected.

Matt Holliday is not doing so hot.

It's basically impossible to maintain a conversation with anyone who owns an Iphone or Blackberry. It would suck to be a teacher these days. I have a class that banned laptops. So now everyone is staring at their crotches thinking the professor doesn't notice they're on Blackberrys. I don't have Facebook, and I hate the idea of it. But honestly, it's getting to be that there is no other way of communicating.

Dammit, this thread title got me twice.

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ May 4, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) Ghost Hunters sucks hardcore, that s*** is boring. Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel is where it's at. You should check it out, it's really interesting and I've watched every ghost show out there and GA is hands down the best. You don't watch Most Haunted do you?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 4, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) I think the episode that he is referring to deals with the Bull Sharks going up the Mississippi river and causing havoc. There was a story about a shark in the early 1900's that attacked a bunch of people in a northern state, I think Illinois or Iowa. It isnt exactly catching a monster, it is more like catching an animal out of its element. Kind of like the cougar in Chicago. There was one monster that has been sighted, and that was the Giant/Colossal Squid off the coast of Mexico. Those episodes are a cut above the bigfoot/nessie shows, because the creature truly exists, they just cannot get a good look at it Yeah I think that's the one I'm talking about.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) Has Monster Quest ever you know, actually found a "monster"? I've seen the show a few times and all they really do is give you some good background on the "monster" they're hunting, interview some people who have had run ins with big foot, show a couple reenactments then a couple guys set up a few traps and motion sensitive trail cameras in the supposed location of said "monster". They do this for a few days, get some good pictures of deer and wrap up the episode. Pretty lame if you ask me. Most of the monsters are bigfoot by a different name which makes the show boring to begin with. They did find a fresh water dwelling shark that was sort of a monster.
