MB is on the Score. Says he's looking for an apology from Cowley for all the injury non-sense from spring training but he knows he'll never get one from him. It didn't sound like he was joking. Also said if he was pitching in Texas when the Sox were getting hit, he would have gone out and tried to hit someone.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) Yeah make sure it's the right size etc. and that she can exchange it if need be (not that I am doubting your judgement here Jason). And congrats G&T on the engagement. Thank you!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) MARK BUEHRLE WAS RIGHT!!! Except that would mean that Sox players were giving signals.
-
It'll be insteresting to see where the case is tried. I'm sure the defense will want to leave the Chicago area because everyone thinks he's guilty.
-
I guess I never mentioned this here but...I got engaged. We're thinking of doing a destination wedding in Maine, but that won't be for more than a year.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 7, 2009 -> 07:10 PM) So I'm going to temp fate this weekend and buy my girlfriend a bathing suit. This could really blow up in my face, given how picky she is with crap like that. But I can get like a super nice one for 5 bucks at an employee only sale. I guess I should say Bikini. Well if it's that cheap, then it's tough to lose. At worst, she doesn't like it and you didn't waste a lot of money. At best, she wears a bikini you want her to wear. Of course, this analysis changes if she's the type to get pissed when you buy her a style she doesn't like and it's the wrong size.... Good luck with that.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 7, 2009 -> 12:20 PM) Well I was going to guess that it was an erectile dysfunction drug because most likely it contains some sort of steroid to "get it up." We will see what baseball says if he has a valid prescription. If he had a prescription, he would have said so. And he wouldn't have gone to a doctor in Miami who wasn't affiliated with the Dodgers.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) I think we really need to stop putting so much thought in to Manny's moods. Manny's mood supposedly helped him have that dominant stretch late last year, but it also looks damn likely that he was on a steroid regimen. I don't believe any more his mood had anything to do with it other than whatever the hormones he was taking did to his mood. Manny might not help them much when he gets back...because he might be being extra careful to avoid the next steroid suspension that would cost him 100 games and $15 million, and thus might not be the player he was while juiced. That's true. He also mentioned, though, that he was great in the club house and the players loved him. There's no way to know what effect this has on the team.

An LA sportswriter had a great comment. Manny is going to be pouty and mad when he comes back because he won't get his big pay day next year. He won't be happy Manny anymore and probably won't help them much.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) Just because he didn't have a masking agent in his system this time doesn't mean he didn't have one there the other 14 times. No I think he did have the mask. Depending on the test, it sounds like it might not catch the roids or the mask, but other tests might catch the mask and not the roids, etc. So I'm curious as to whether their tests have changed.
-
Gammons has back tracked on his comments from earlier. He won't take a position on it now.
-
ESPN has a special and a doctor from NYU is on. The question could he go 15 tests without being positive. He didn't have sure answer but said that HGC can mask some effects of steroids depending on the test used. MLB has no anti-doping oversight so he couldn't say for sure. Nothing we didn't already know.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) David Ortiz, age 21-26 with the Twins 58 homers in 1477 at-bats=1/25.5 AB's age 27-33 with Red Sox 231 homers in 3259 at-bats=1/14 AB's Pretty dramatic change... I'm not 100% sold on Chipper Jones for the Hall of Fame quite yet, Vlad yes, Pujols until something like this comes out...but it would be a shame, especially the way he's been elevated to God-like status as the MLB icon, child with a disability, non-profit organizations and community/charity work, his Tebow-like Christian faith, etc. It's one thing if A-Rod has gone down, but quite another Pujols does, too. That might really damage baseball with this generation of fans... Ortiz also went from playing for the Twins, who wanted him to hit the other way, to the Red Sox, who wanted the homers. I'm not saying he didn't use, I'm saying the numbers may not tell the whole story.

Gammons defended Manny (based on the video on ESPN's website), and claims that the Red Sox do not believe he was doing it while on that team. Gammons thoroughly believes this is not HGH related or steroids. Suspiciously, the doctor he got it from was in Miami.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) Nope, it was for HCG. (See detailed explanation above). where did that info come from?
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:28 AM) So Manny thinks he is a woman? He might have b****-tits too.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) Turico and Van Pelt say the drug was a women's fertility drug, commonly taken when coming off a "cycle" of steroids or PEDs. That would explain why it was on the banned list.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) This is exactly the "spin" Boras was looking for. He tested positive for it twice according to the article. Isn't he told about a positive test? He was told in spring training according to the report.
-
QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 7, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) The thread title still says PEDs. The reports are saying it was a sexual enhancer: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Ajl3...o&type=lgns Does this mean we all have to apologize?
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) Yes, those two fought the suspensions but still lost. Based on precedents set by MLB, it is almost impossible to have one of these types of suspensions tossed out. Therefore, why bother to fight it? He might as well serve the suspension now and come back as soon as possible to help the Dodgers compete. Delaying the suspension period only hurts the Dodgers team. Also, this report came out what, 2 hours ago? You need to give a little time to react to this before comparing what Cameron/Romero did to what Manny is NOT doing. I'm agreeing Manny needs to release this information. However, for all we know the medication he was supplied could have been for gonorrhea or any other STD. If that were the case, he may be weighing whether or not it's worth releasing it or not. We just don;t know yet. To be fair, according to a reporter in LA who was on the Score, they knew about this during last night's game. So Manny knew yesterday what was going on, and Boras probably knew before Manny.

I'm not really interested in how well Ramirez plays when he returns this year, but I'm really interested to see what happens if he plays next year. The numbers could drop precipitously.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) and if you want to look cryptically into statements, people have argued Ozzie's tirade against Mags, last year or in '07, hinted at it. That was 2005 I believe. And everyone knew what was going on.

College was awesome. Congratulations on graduating, but the funness of life is going to decline rapidly.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) It's not like the Sox haven't had their fair share of probable users over the past 8 years, hell a couple of fan favorites get thrown out there quite often. I know. I was heartbroken when we heard about Jim Parque.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:39 AM) anyone who is familiar with meds have any idea what family of drugs this could have been in if it's true? Manny claims it wasn't a steroid, so something like a stimulant maybe? Doesn't a stimulant bring a lower suspension?
