The Score says the same. And that Pods is having groin surgery.

My grandparents shop there, but only for dress clothes, and only during sales.

From what we've seen of KW this offseason, I doubt any trade happens without a pitcher included. Especially for Crede.

This quote was on ESPN. Can anyone attest to this? I've never heard of that at a playoff game in Chicago.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) What was his opinion on Marquis and Lilly then? It was all Sox talk.
-
I don't have any respect for Murph's opinion, but he is about the only show that talks baseball this time of year. That said, he did talk to a minor league analyst from BP and his opinions were: a. That Haeger should be the fifth starter. b. Even if Floyd wins the fifth spot, he's nothing more that a place holder (barring a Coop miracle). c. Danks is a top 5 or 10 lefty prospect. Not a top 2 like KW says. (everyone knew that I guess) He had some other things to say that I can't remember particularly, but I was most surprised by the Haeger comment. I know some people here like him, but this guy liked him a lot.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) Again, some of you are missing the whole STRANGE part... The thread description only says "women that don't usually come to mind." But if that's not good enough I'm going to say that Nancy Pelosi looked pretty good that night she took over as Speaker of the House...is that strange enough?

QUOTE(Balance @ Jan 8, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) How about Kari Byron, the girl from "MythBusters?" Yes.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jan 8, 2007 -> 10:55 AM) She's just got that natural hottness. Man I been saying that since her first commercial. I think I even tried googling once to find out who she was. edit And here she is....Jill Wagner. I wish I wouldn't have found these Stuff pics, cause I like her better in the commercials Stuff Mag Mercury The Stuff pics would be better if she wasn't covered in grease, but it's still hot IMO.

25...that seems a bit high for me but not too far off.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 01:25 AM) YES. Why does she stand out so much? Is she the 1st hot chick in a car commercial? Maybe she is. Well she has that throaty kinda voice, which is nice. But most car commercials just have voice overs, not hotty spokeswoman.

That woman in the Mercury car commercials. I have no clue what her name is.

This article is similar to what Steve Stone said about the deal. BMac and Danks might be basically the same guy, but a lefty is more valuable than a righty. Stone also pointed out that Danks has a better fastball with movement, and that BMac might have to change arm angles to get that movement. In fact, he speculated that BMac might have been moved because he would not listen to Coop and he kept getting lit up. What makes me nervous about what this guy says is that teams that try to rebuild and stay competitive do neither. I'm interested to see how that works out. The Yankees look like they are trying to do the same thing.

There's already a thread on this in the Diamond Club.

I listen to B&B all the time, but sometimes they just annoy the hell outta me when they Berstein tries to act like a lawyer and "debate" with people over a phone line where he can hang up on them at any time. Basically, I listen to them, but the quality of their phone calls has become horrid. On that same theme, "Who You Crappin'" and "Friday Fung" have become unlistenable IMO. I can't understand why some people wait on hold that long to say the stuff they say.

QUOTE(spiderman @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 04:33 PM) Stone did say that he didn't think the Sox are done, but didn't really say what he thought he would do. Bernstein mentioned SS and CF (I believe that is what he said) - I don't think SS will change - Uribe/Cintron is average, and it's not like there are a plethora of SS available. CF is the one position that I could see a possible upgrade as Williams did say earlier that they are still considering their options, but I really can't see anything more than a stop gap option like a Brady Clark type player coming in. We'll see though.... Dan said left field, but it doesn't matter. Stone did not really respond to the comment except to say they aren't done.

Steve Stone is on the Score right now, and I'll just throw this in here. Stone says that he had learned to trust in what KW does because the organization is great at evaluating talent both in and out of their organization. He does not believe that the Sox are done making moves. Boers just said that MB will only get Ted Lilly money ($10 mil). Dan rightfully yelled at him.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) Did anyone actually ask about Buehrle's future here? Yes, and KW basically said that he is not ruling anything out. It's not that he won't sign MB, but with all his talk about contracts and years, MB would probably have to give a discount to stay and I don't see that happening. There were no mentions of trades.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 09:06 AM) I really thought he's comfortable with the future of our pitching, but he was very disappointed in how the market exploded this offseason, and how that impacted his plans to upgrade the outfield. It's the prices that make him comfortable with what he has, and yes, I think he would have upgraded if the prices weren't ridiculous. He kept talking about flexibility and not having a giant contract keep him from competing down the line. If there's a move to make to upgrade the outfield, he will do it. He seems really happy and proud with what he has done with the pitching. Basically he's trying to create a rotation that plays in that park, which is good to hear.

QUOTE(spiderman @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) Guess we disagree on Pods - I never said he gave a glowing review of either, in fact, I have said now 3 times that Williams says Pods had a down year - that's not glowing. I just believe, based on Kenny's comments, that he's more down on Anderson than Podsednik. Wiliams, as you mentioned, indicated, that he could be looking for other possibilites still for CF. Agreed, but would have moved both if he could have. At the least, KW seems very comfortable with what he has. I also find it funny that after a long interview, the only sound the Score played of it in their update was that KW wanted Rowand but couldn't get him.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) I like Anderson, but he is going to still struggle at least another season or so. Pods is truely one of the worst regular players in baseball. I don't understand the logic of letting a guy who doesn't get on base that much, who gets himself out a lot on the basepaths, and a guy with really horrible baserunning instincts, I have seen him not get an extra base numerous times, while guys with half his "speed" take an extra base easily, not to mention his defensive shortcomings, lead off, let alone play regularly. If Pods is leading off for the White Sox in 2007, 2007 will be dissapointing for White Sox fans. I agree with everything except the last part. Pods has little effect on their winning if the team pitches. But he is bad at everything. Just have to look at Mackowiac to see a guy with half the speed but twice the base running smarts.
-
The market will dictate where guys like MB will land. He tried to extend him last year but he wouldn't do it. KW finds these contracts ridiculous and usually they don't work well. Fans don't want to hear about the financial side and its realities, but in time they will agree with him. Ozzie might have given the Twins motivation with his comments about their team, and KW wasn't happy with the comments about getting 95 wins. He just wants to win.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) Two quick thoughts: - KW mentioned that they're still looking at some guys for CF. - KW seems anything but confident in Anderson and Podsednik. Yeah, he seems to be saying all the things about Anderson and Pods that he was saying about Bmac when he got traded. For example, "I don't want to talk about other players we are 'enamored with' when we have young guys that have to carry the load for us and we will have to depend on."
-
Mack will take over Gload's job. Why a caller would ask this is beyond me. Sisco never got a chance to develop and they think he's been tipping his pitches which they can correct. Sounds like he will be in the pen. Fields is ready, and Crede will need breaks. As for the surgery talk, he prefers not sending guys to surgery. Says he gets along with Boras, just not the price tags.
-
They are not happy with the overall centerfield situation last year, but the prices were ridiculous in trades. They did try to get Rowand who KW really likes. North points out that BA is overly cocky, and KW has talked to him about that. North likes Pods coming back even though he sucked. KW couldn't justify paying anyone else so much more money. Pods may have only had a down year. KW thinks that the microscope of Chicago is tough. KW thinks the starters will come back strong. He says they were tired out, and that he talked to John Smoltz and others about pitchers in the playoffs. Smoltz said every inning down the stretch and in the playoffs is like 2 innings. A caller says that Thome started out "gangbangers." KW never really addresses this comment.
