  1. QUOTE(premo @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:03 AM) I hate that a baseball game can ruin the rest of the night for me. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Every game someone lets us down. Today, our offense played their asses off, but our pitching crapped their pants in tough situations. With the exception of Garland, our starting pitching is a fukkin trainwreck. Yeah, it seemed about a week ago that the pen was really coming together, and now nobody except Bobby can hold an opponent down. And games like this ruin my night too. I hate it,
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) In 2004 the Twins were sputtering in late August. We were dropping games and couldnt make a game up. Then they righted the ship and plowed through. lets worry about getting out of 3rd place before we start talking about the tigers fading. I'm just saying that the numbers show that things aren't that bad, but the games say different.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) The more I think about it, there is still hope if we can pull it out tomorrow. .5 is doable, 2.5 seems like a ton Rationally, it is possible to still make the playoffs, and even take over the Tigers. With the way the Tigers are going, they could be in big trouble. The problem is that the Sox can't put wins together and there is nothing about this team that tells me things will change.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) Who's he going to replace McCarthy with in the rotation? Not even I can think of a logical choice. I don't know. I can't think of a situation that makes sense outside of Ozzie making a decree that someone is moving to the pen and McCarthy is coming to the rotation and to hell to anyone who doesn't like it. But I doubt that'll happen. I guess it's all wishful thinking.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) This situation is 1/100th of the situation Ozzie had last year, and he still kept Duque in the rotation over McCarthy. I'm not saying BMAC will be in the rotation, I just think there will be even more pressure. Ozzie is known for not listening to anything that sounds rational. The other thing is that McCarthy was just up to the bigs last year so not using him in the playoffs wasn't totally irational. Now, McCarthy has experience and could easily contribute.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) Or our manager just get his head out of his ass when Vaz starts, and he pulls him no matter how well he's doing if the game is within 3 runs. And now the bullpen is in a funk and can't hold any lead. After this game Ozzie will have a lot of pressure to insert McCarthy.
  7. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) All I can say to that is maybe it is maybe it isn't....I am still gonna stick with my team and hope we squeak in..... The weird thing is, is that we jsut have not hit a stride all year long, some players have it some nights some don't.....we are not playing team baseball like we did last year. Well there won't be any stride, that I know. I also have a very good feeling that the Twins are about to win this division and if the Sox ever figured it out they could over take the Tigers too, but there's no reason to expect that the final month will be better than the previous 5 so it probably won't happen.
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) We beat Joe Nathan for the first time in 3 years, and somehow, it's still not good enough. When your bullpen and defense is bad, you lose. This is an emblematic loss. Plenty of offense, shaky defense and no clutch pitching.
  9. Another amazing job giving up a run by the pen.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Such a difference between the swings we took last inning, and Ford's swing on the 2-2 pitch. Isn't it amazing.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:45 PM) Ugh, Gload has had a great approach tonight, but right there... gotta take a pitch. When you ride pine most of the time, then you hit a homer, it has to get you swinging for the fences a bit.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) 24 pitches in 2 innings for Jenks, 16 in the 9th, 8 in the 10th. He looked stronger in the 10th than the 9th by a lot. He's different when it's tied or it's a save situation. He goes through the motions otherwise it seems.
  13. WOW, so I guess he can make the great play.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) You just can't lose this game. Can't. No way. The problem with saying that is this team has a tendency to do just that.
  15. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) I don't expect them to win tonight I don't expect them to win tomorrow This does not affect my perception of their playoff chances I do not believe that Boof Bonser, Carlos Silva and a 1-armed Brad Radke are noticably more effective than any of our three starters over the long haul. Sorry. They already have been.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) Will he take strike 3 or will he swing and miss is my question. Take
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Mackowiak would have knocked that over? I imagine him running balls to the wall, arms flailing, then slapping the ball over the wall in his attempt to catch it. Is that so far off?
