Tom Gordon on the block?
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Does anyone else sit here and think that a guy who pitches 200+ innings at around age 30 is more valuable than a guy who might pitch 70 inning and is around age 40, even considering contract disparities? Yes, but that depends on a team's needs and assets. The Sox obviously believe that BMAC is the real deal and in order to get him into the rotation they need to move an inconsistent piece of the rotation and bring in a setup man. This whole deal revolves around the idea that McCarthy is ready now, and can bring everything to the table that Garcia or Vasquez brings.

Tom Gordon on the block?
The Sox response to the trade rumors involving Gordon is that "they won't respond to every trade rumor"...which IMO is a bit different than their usual "No, we won't do that." That's usually an indication that something is afoot. This is reported by the Score. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

This is amazing
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) WOW. Garcia on the block? I'm trying to get used to that. As far as Flash, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't he on the Sox in '03 or '04? Me personally, I am NOT worried about a reliever. I am worried about a STARTER. Yeah he was here and he was good. After Koch I think he took over as closer. As for the trade rumors, moving to the NL will be best for both of these guys.

Contreras out of ASG
I was wondering who would drop out after yesterday's game. Good to see Liriano get in too.

Jason Schmidt
QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 10:06 AM) my guess would be that a guy like vazquez or garcia could be moved for a CF and a bullpen arm....rowand and gordon? im sure it would take more than just one starter to get both, but maybe not if philly is desperate to move flash's contract I don't see Rowand being moved. All we ever hear is about how he's got the new attitude that the Phillies want.

Jason Schmidt
The only way this makes sense is in a three-way deal that gets the Sox both Schmidt and a center-fielder because the Sox can't give up their two best trade pieces in one trade then turn around and have to fill another hole. Plus, who helps the bullpen when BMAC is gone? Did Vasquez look so impressive out there that he could move? There would have to be more to this than just Schmidt.

Matt Thornton "Regains Old Form"
This team would be in deep trouble without this guy. Today proved it even more.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) With Cliffy on the mound in that last inning I was on the edge of my seat. WHEW!!!!!!! The key to Cliff is pitching him when everyone is tired out. It's like Homer when he's boxing.

Great bullpen work. Bad offense execution. Needed that win with Tigers losing.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) Never, optimally. Unfortunately AJ can't catch too many more innings, or so I think. AJ strikes out on fastball right down the middle.
