No Trades?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) I wouldn't be shocked if we picked up a reliever and moved Bmac to AAA or immediately into the rotation with one of our starters getting a rest (whether its Freddy or Buehlre). However, unless we were getting Schdmit or Oswalt none of these deals really made sense because we would only go as far as our pitching staff. Agreed, there was no reason to overpay for offense (no other team did it either), and nobody wants our pitchers. So there's really nothing out there that made sense.

MLB Trade Deadline Thread 7/31
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) It's pretty disappointing that the transaction that led to the most conversation on this board today was Maddux for Izturis. The fact that big names haven't been moved tells me that there was really nothing KW to do except make a terrible trade out of desperation.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) He does play a GG caliber SS. Pretty good move by Hendry standards. He's a career .260 hitter, watch Neiffi take the playing time.

Thanks, this is really nice.

Alomar to exclusively catch Buehrle
I think this gives MB someone to work with between starts so he can keep one thought in his head. AJ has to work with the other guys too so he doesn't have the time Sandy does. This could just be a way to keep MB's head on straight between starts.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) One of the worst losses of the year IMO. Swear to mother fishing god nothing can click at the same time. These last two days have been an exhibition for the problems of this team. All offense, and garbage pitching that can't hold leads.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Nice piece of hitting there. Nice Job Bobby. You f***ed this up. This is a problem when closers go a while without save opportunities. He gave up a run yesterday and blows it today.

Classic Sox this year. Can't get the 3rd strike and now he's on third base. Need double play, please.

Padres "focused on Fields"
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) I can't remember where I heard this, but Crede insisted that Boras wouldn't ruin negotiations between him and the White Sox. Isn't Uribe a Boras client as well? We signed him to a contract extension, so it can be done. I know, I've read that too, but there's nothing that indicates to me that KW wants to take any chances and I don't blame him. In the Tribune today it says that Fields has been in the outfield a little bit, but won't get any real work until next year. I'd look for a multiyear offer this off season for Crede.

Padres "focused on Fields"
QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) Regardless of this deal, it appears the White Sox are unwilling to move Josh Fields. What does this say about the future of Joe Crede ??? With Scott Boras as Crede's agent, and Fields the top positional prospect in the minors, I get the impression that Kenny Williams may do, in the off-season, what he did with Contreras/Garland - offer a 3-4 year extension, and see if he takes it; otherwise, his future is in doubt. Fields is KW's only bargaining chip on Crede. If Fields goes, Boras can rip the Sox for everything they're worth. What adds to this thought is that Fields hasn't been moved to left field, despite a relative need for a left fielder. I think KW is wary of negotiating with Boras, and doesn't want to get left in the cold if things go wrong.

Coco Crisp offered to the Sox?
Crisp isn't enough to trade a starting pitcher. Just like with any other deal, KW will want young pitching, and the BoSox don't seem to want to deal that.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
I left the house in the seventh expecting more disappointment, boy was I surprised to hear the post game show. Still need two more. Get it done.

Remember when 3 runs wasn't an insurmountable deficit.

7/28/2006 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) I'll ask again since nobody answered before. If we get crushed this weekend, would you be angry at KW for having a white flag trade? Yes, this team could be good next year. Plus there's no way to orchestrate a mass sell off with these contracts in one day.

7/28/2006 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) Shame on us for believing in this team Shame on KW for sitting on his flipping hands The team was good...and now not. Maybe this bad stretch sent the message to KW that giving up prospects wasn't worth it this year.

7/28/2006 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) I've thought of that, and wonder if they would give him that much more velocity. I kinda doubt it, but this whole team looks like it could use a caffeine pill.

7/28/2006 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) I would just like someone from the White Sox to explain the dramatic velocity loss Garcia has encountered. Is he hurt? Is he off the juice? Did he just get old? That and keep him away from the buffet table. Maybe he stopped using greenies.
