QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) My feeling then is that it is either a misunderstanding of the code on their part, or a convenient stretching of the truth to make sure teachers are teaching and not slacking off with movie days. This was my first reaction. There is no way anyone could believe that Disney is about to sue a school over showing Disney movies to Disney's target audience, no matter the legality of it.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 07:13 AM) Man, I just looked up this beer on ratebeer.com. It sounds delicious. Where did you find it? Most beers stores have it. Even the smaller beer stores here have it. If you have a Binny's around, they should have it. Other brewers make smoke beers as well, like Left Hand. What I like to do when I want to try a certain style but have no idea what the bottle shop will have is check Ratebeer and find a couple different beers in mind to seek out. Then I'll just grab whatever I find. Smoke beers have become more prevalent so I'm sure you will find something. Honestly, I've never tasted anything like it. Definitely worth the experience...and already I'm wondering when I'll get another one.

This smoke beer is everything I had ever read. Never has a beer been so perfectly described...but who could ever imagine a beer that smells like a bon fire and raw bacon, yet tastes smooth like a well smoked pork chop? The aroma is strong but the beer is very easy to drink. If I couldn't smell it, I would place it as a rich, malty schwartz. I don't know if I'll ever crave this type of beer, but then I thought that about sours too.

I'm drinking an Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen. This is a weird, wild experience.

Wow. They just switched NY's coverage from the Bears to the Packers because the game is so bad.
-
I'm wondering if the Bears will get a single defensive stop.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) I think it's just people putting two and two together, and seeing if it sticks. Even though the Bears seemed to change philosophy with the Cutler trade, it's still The Bears. They would still have to pay Lovie a ton after the let him go, and it's going to take a lot to get someone like Shanahan to come to this mess. Again, not the Bears M.O. Would he rather go to Washington? At least the Bears have his QB. But no, it would be more Bears like to wait until the end of next season, when no coaches are available, then fire Lovie.

Bill James handbook 2010 predicts Tyler Flowers

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 06:09 PM) Today's activity supports my dream scenario Flowers can either catch or DH daily... with CJ Retherford as an emergency catcher (and other utility guy as it seems he'll now be) So AJP and TF can coexist regularly So your dream scenario involves filling an emergency catcher position? -
I officially passed the NY bar exam today. I'm drinking now, and I plan to be for a while.

I wonder if there is money moving as well, which would require MLB approval. That might be the delay.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) This move makes Beckham available if they deem that CJ and Nix can play second. Just saying. Teahan is fast enough as he is not a clogger. I think the Sox realized this season that the speed thing will not work at the cell. They need guys that can run the bases and have some power. This also adds a guy that can play multiple positions like Kotsay. This team needs subtle moves this offseason nothing major and I think they will be one of hte best teams in baseball. Available for what?
-
Kind of a "meh" move. The only problem I have with it is that the Sox seem to love KC players. How has that worked out?
-
Oh, that option for Lester is a club option. So that's only 1 year over $10M guaranteed.
-
Last year I think Danks' agent said he wanted a Lester type deal. That's 5 years, $30M, plus an option for a 6th year at $13M.

I'm going to guess that Lee will be available for 2 innings. I think he will be the closer in Game 7 should they get that far.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) Apple trees are deciduous, I think your friend was messing with you Well I doubt he was picking leaves. The fruit always falls to the ground, but usually they get bruised in the process.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) A contestant on the Teen Jeopardy show just used "Sean Connery" as an answer in final Jeopardy because he didn't know the answer. Except that he crossed it out and put a different wrong answer that was almost right. Alex didn't seem to like the joke.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) There is no where around there to even do it. It is so densely packed in that it is impossible. You can buy up and tear down buildings. I've never been to the Bronx, but I can't imagine they built the new stadium without clearing space (of course, the Bronx isn't as nice as Wrigleyville), but I could be wrong.

QUOTE (chisoxpride2 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) I agree. Who in our organization could be familiar with Manny? Yes that's rhetorical haha Didn't the Sox try to trade for Mags for Manny like 6 years ago?
-
Bump in notoriety? Yeah that's the Sox. A little late to jump on that train.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 1, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) The Yankees proved this year that you can build a new stadium, even if the other is cherished historically, and still draw fans. If you are the Cubs, why don't you build a new stadium, make it look exactly like Wrigley Field, and then actually be playing in a state of the art stadium, rather than in a piece of s***? The problem is that the location is most of the draw. Just building a stadium isn't enough. I can't imagine the locals there would allow another stadium built in that area, and Wrigley has landmark status so it can't be torn down.
