QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) I'm still too scared to give credit to anyone because I am absolutely TERRIFIED because anything can happen and we haven't been here before. I'm very hesitant to open my mouth at all, but I'll admit that OG has done a good job SO FAR. I understand how you feel as you don't want to put the horse before the cart, what I'm learning is to let all those anxious and superstitious feelings go. I'm enjoying this immensely! Of course if they lose 3 straight it would be tough as hell to swallow, but that shouldn't stop us from enjoying this 2 game lead. We know it's not over and we know the Red Sox are explosive and very dangerous, but I think we should enjoy this and believe in the team. Normally, I would be saying let's not get too excited it's not over yet etc etc, but why not just enjoy the last two games for what they were... damn good White Sox winners! I would suggest you not bite your tongue, just use common sense and don't talk out your ass just 'cuz the Sox are up 2-0. Besides, if the Sox lose this series it won't be because of anything you did or said.....it would probably me MY fault. lol

QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:49 AM) I jumped out of my seat, high fived everyone who was watching the game with me, then went outside and screamed "GOOCH HIT A THREE RUN HOMER!!!" ...... you see, we kicked a friend out of the house cuz we felt he was bad luck (we have some stupid superstions in my house), so i had to make sure it was loud enough so he could hear it. we then let him back in when the inning was over Glad to hear others are just as superstitous as I/we are. I bunch of my friends are Carolina fans and they are smokers. They came to my house to watch them in the final 4 (not this year) and they were down big real early, they went outside to smoke and Carolina went on a ride and got the lead down to like 2 or 3. Instead of coming back in to watch it, they watched the game through the picture window on the porch. haha It didn't work though 'cuz someone else came over and sat on the couch, they yelled at him to leave but he didn't and Carolina went down. lol My wife knows not to touch ANYTHING in the living room while the game is on......

QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Actually he did throw it during the Cleveland series and it was working pretty good. Not the best though. Im not worried, the kid has to have a lot going through his mind. I wouldnt be surprised to see it getting better after last nights performance though. That should give him some confidence. Well he did throw it in the Monday game in the dirt, but didn't throw it after that...at least not to THAT batter when it called for it. I just think his curve is a lil' more shaky than it should be.....

My 4 year old son and I were sitting on the couch, I jumped off the couch and started jumping saying "yes, yes, yes..way to go Gooch." My son was cracking up laughing....because the neighbors next to me are ScRub fans and two across the street are Sox fans I went outside and yelled "You can put it on the boooooooooard. YES!" I came back inside and my son was still laughing, I asked him what was so funny and he said "you were jumping around crazy and real high." Haven't been that hyped in a while....probably since Jordan hit the J v the Jazz...

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) I just posted about this in another thread. Bobby's mechanics were a little out of whack at a couple of points last night. But the good news, that 1st playoff game is out of the way, and hopefully he can settle down and be exactly like the pitcher we saw when he 1st came up. At least he got the job done though. Of course my motto's been for the majority of the season, don't care how you look, don't care if you win 1-0, just win damnit. Yeah I hear ya, I didn't want to come off as being negative... I'm freakin' pumped like a mofo right now wish they were playing today. Jenks's curve has been a concern for a couple weeks now...didn't throw it v the Indians at the Cell. Oh well, GO WHITE SOX!!!!!
-
I'm not trying to be negative I just would like to know if anybody is concerned about Jenks not being able to throw his curve for a strike. He did a good job yesterday, took care of business no doubt. I just worry a lil' bit that he's becoming a 1 pitch pitcher....and I also know if he can find his "Mike Sweeney sit your ass down" curve ball he'd be damn near unhittable. I guess I just prefer an easy 1-2-3 inning. lol

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 02:20 PM) I think that playing for a run whenever you can get them is the way to go for the WHite Sox. There are no universals. I wouldn't make that move if I were Joe Torre with his lineup (although Tito should have Renteria bunt over Damon with Edgars struggles). I think that Ozzie should continue to be aggressive. I think that we can get burned and not have a cloud over us because the team bounces back when Ozzie keeps the pressure on. If you want to see the WHite Sox trying to hit the 3 run bomb and not hit/run or steal-watch our offense for much of Auguest and September-ugh. That was the perfect move for many reasons. First it took pressure off of Pods to steal, 2nd it put pressure on Clement to make good pitches, 3rd it sent a message that they are going to do whatever it takes to score a run and are not going to sit around waiting for the 3-run HR. Because they exploded yesterday does that now mean they should not be aggressive on the base paths, not sacrifice and wait for the HR? I say HELL NO! That didn't work the last 4 years. Scoring that first run was huge imo 'cuz it relieved some pressure and I think the key AB of the game was RowDog's single...hit a tough pitch and plated another run and set up AJ for the bunt attempt....giving Clement a false sense of security. lol

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) Here's an optimistic take: the Red Sox will overcompensate with patience yesterday after their hasty approach a day ago. This means that when Mark attacks the zone like he usually does-Boston will take too many strikes early in the count and Mark will get ahead of hitters. Even if they come out hacking-they might swing their way into a deeper funk after yesterday. Plus, Wells likes Buehrle so much that I think Mark can be in David's head just a little. Wells might try to be too fine today To go along with your final thoughts, I think yesterday's explosion was huge for much more than the obvious (win game 1, release pressure/jitters etc) and that being Red Sox pitchers now know if they make mistakes the Sox can make them pay. That could cause (at least I'm hoping) Red Sox pitchers to try to be too careful, throw a lot of pitches and walk a bunch of batters. We'll see.
-
Well thanks for props, but if he blows the game tonight or Friday or Saturday or Sunday or any OTHER day I might have to retract my message and resume hating him. I just want him to get the job done, so I'm trying anything.
-
I'd like to see Pods showing bunt with the first 2 pitches, if not actually laying a beauty down the line. Get in Well's head early, make him think about more than just pitching. Make him move around, expend energy etc etc. GO WHITE SOX!!!!!

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) Get a room, you crazy kids! Hold up man, I wouldn't make out with him! Just spill champagne on him and all that.........

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Awww. Maybe it's the hopeless romantic in me, but I love it when couples work out their differences. If he gets the job done I wouldn't hesitate to hug and kiss him! lol

Dear Damaso, For almost the entire season I have cursed you. I can't even begin to count how many times I've said, "I hate your" and or "f***, I can't stand Marte!" My wife has seen your mug on TV and asked, "isn't that the guy you hate?" I don't even respond, I merely look at her with a "why the f*** are you asking me a question you already know the answer to" look on my face. Well Mr. Marte, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize and ask your forgiveness as I recognize you have been trying your best and are vital to the success of the White Sox. I beg for you to forget about fans booing you, for countless poor performances...we need ya big guy! Time to put all the bulls*** behind you/us and get the job done. When Ozzie calls your number I expect you to come in guns blazing and pumping the high heat with some filthy junk mixed in. I believe in you Damaso, time to start believing in yourself. Sincerely, Bias

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) If he's taken out now, Arroyo will come in. Well if they bring in Arroyo now and he goes 5 or 6 he'll be done and won't be able to come in tomorrow when they light up tomorrow's starter.

I want Clement to be ok so they can score "lotta mo" runs but I would like to see them get in the bullpen and tire those guys out too.
-
You can put it on the booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooard.............................YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I can't hear the broadcast but why complain about them so much? It doesn't accomplish anything and if and when the Sox win it'll make it that much sweeter no? LET'S GO WHITE SOX!!!!!
-
Where will you guys be watching the games? Do any of you plan to hook up to watch? BW3? Hooters? Copper Penny? McTavern's.....let a brotha know!

Ok, enough sarcasm...time to get down to business. Let's go White Sox clap clap clap/clap/clap Let's go White Sox clap clap clap/clap/clap Let's go White Sox clap clap clap/clap/clap Let's go White Sox clap clap clap/clap/clap Let's go White Sox clap clap clap/clap/clap U get the idea....

If Selig is so concerned about clubs fielding comepetitive lineups then why doesn't he send letters to all the last place teams? dahahaha

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) This is bogus. If the White Sox were playing Cleveland for their playoff lives and either the Yankees or Red Sox put this crap on the field which would hurt their chances, there would be outrage. I have no problem with a regular Sunday line-up tonight, but this is stretching it. If Cleveland rolls tonight, this will have repercussions in the future, believe me. I also wouldn't be surprised if the Ozzie gets a call from the commissioner's office as well. And before anyone skewers me, just put yourselves in NY or Boston's shoes. Neither NY nor Boston have any kind of b****...if they win their games they are in.....if the Yankees win 2 of 3 they are in if Boston sweeps they are in! They control their own destinies right?? Boston especially has no b****...they've blown a 6 game lead and now trail by a game. Yankees sucked ass for most of the season and if they come up a game short they have nobody to blame but themselves for coming up just short. That's why ALL the games count.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX DIVISION WINNER!!!!

Woo Mother f***ing Hoo!!!!! Yippie Kai Yeah motha fu**a!! -
I would like see the Sox do something that shows team unity.....akin to the Bulls bustin' out the all black socks for the playoffs back in the day (I'm talkin' the FIRST time they did it). I think it would serve as a way to get everyone on the same page and get them REfocused on the common goal.....WIN or DIE tryin. Enough whining about one's spot in the order, the rotation, no trade help etc etc. It's time to sack up and take care of business!
