    Mumble Jumble

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Never did i ever imagine to see that Pebbles and Bam Bam song in Soxtalk. Sure made me laugh. It's been a personal favorite for like 25 years now. lol
  2. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) How can you forget The Bev? Well, when my friend called to ask me I was stumped....but told him if I had to guess I would say Bevington. He was arguing with another friend of ours and he called me for the answer...but it was so out of left field, I drew a blank. In all seriousness though, why would I WANT to remember him? It must be a mental block afterall.......
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) He has been our best hitter with RISP this year, and that's the definiton of the 3 hole when you hit behind Iguchi and Pods. I just worry about the amount of times he swings and misses/strikes out being a problem sitting in front of Konerko. What should the lineup be? Me say Pods Goocher RowDog Paulie AJ Dye Dinosaur Man Crede Uribe I would be concerned about Paulie and AJ being back 2 back due to lack of speed, but I prefer to break up the righties by having him @ 5 instead of 6.
  4. 3-2 Sox beat the Twins Monday game..Torri makes last out of game Sox lose to the Orioles Sunday game Sox come back late v Dodgers Crede sends everyone home v Twins on Tue. night Sox suck and lose 8-0 on Wed. night.
  5. What if the Indians finish a game back of the Sox(think positive) and the Yankees and Red Sox tie with the exact same record. Talk about a mess, what if the Sox, Indians, Yankees and Red Sox all finish with the exact same record. There would have to be 2 playoffs to decide the division winners and then another game b/w the losers to decide the wild card........................
  6. Dumb question I know, but for some reason I just can't recall who it was. Mental block? Lil' help please. Thanks in advance.
  7. All I know is regardless if the Sox win the division, make the playoffs, win a series, go to and or win the World Series Jerk Reindsdork and KW best bring in better players! JR has said for years if we come to the park, they'll have the $$$ to spend. Well, we came this year and if they don't bring in quality players.....not the 2-3 years passed their prime Carl Everett, Jermaind Dye types.... but top of the line free agents I will not attend any games next year. I want a bonafide run producer and I want a bonafide closer!
  8. I feel like a zombie. I have so much to say, but the words just don't come to mind. My brain isn't sending the signals to my fingers to type. I feel like I've been kicked in the nutsack and while I was on the ground whining in pain somebody kicked my dog. There is so much blame to go around why bother picking on a single player? They are all responsible for this embarrassment! We can 2nd guess Ozzie's moves forever, but how many chances did they blow....not just in last night's game either. When they were playing like s*** Ozzie was playing Timo almost everyday, Blum was on the field every other day, Marte would be brought in to blow another lead and now that they are desperate to win he doesn't use the bench when it calls for it? If he has no confidence in the bench why the f--k was he playing them so much a few weeks ago? Aw man, I'm getting really really really f---ing pissed now! I think we should all take Ozzie's advice (after they blew the opening game in KC last year) and just get drunk. I might have to tie one on everyday the rest of the year to get over this crap. I'll see you guys in the unemployment line in a few weeks. I'll be the guy singing "Let the Sunshine in, face it with a grin. Open up your heart and let the sun shine in."
  9. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) I understand we had a tough loss last night, but what is all this crap about "they are done?" What is this crap, yes CRAP, about "they played terrible last night." LMAO. I saw a few too many walks, but other than that, I saw a stellar performance. Ozzie took the risk with Marte and this time it didn't pay off. That doesn't mean we played "poorly." Quite frankly, when you take into account the fact we took on the hottest team in baseball now, or so it seems, we didn't quite experience the "massacre" some people were expecting. Based on how GOOD we actually played yesterday, I have good feelings about the rest of the series. I only have 1 problem with your post....the part about Marte not paying off THIS time. He's sucked ass way more than he's succeeded.....I wish Marte would've never come back!
  10. I didn't blame Jenks, but he did give up the hit. If you read my original post you'll see how I feel about Gas Can....err Marte. He (Boone) might be a dead pull hitter, but I still don't believe he'd turn on high cheese on the fists.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Our pitchers, especially relievers, aren't very good at pitching inside. In case you haven't noticed, whenever our catchers set up inside late in the game, they either hit the batter or come close to hitting them. Jenks put that pitch in the one place Boone could hurt him. A fastball up in the zone would have been a K or a weak pop up. A good curve, and Boone's likely a K also. So the entire staff can't pitch inside??? What about Freddy? He was throwing meat all night and maybe came inside one time. That was their m.o. the last few years, earlier this year they were coming inside a ton. I just don't see them coming inside too often and whether or not it's reality it appears they are afraid of throwing strikes...at least to me.
  12. I don't think Boone would've turned on Jenk's heat had he busted him inside instead of trying to stay away. It is so damn frustrating to watch them pitch like they are afraid. How many times does Marte have to suck ass before Ozzie stops using him in critical situations?? At least they played more like the first 1/2 team than the bums they played like recently. I thought they showed some sack coming back to tie it and take the lead. Even though they lost, I feel better about their chances than I have recently. They finally looked like they actually cared. Hopefully, they'll take the next 2 and then get hot to end the season...........
  13. Actually HBO 2 will re-air Shane and MAB's fights....from HBO: Watch the exclusive delay broadcasts Friday, Sept. 23 at 11pm (ET/PT) on HBO2. FYI, Leavander Johnson lost via TKO to Jesus Chavez and then was taken to the hospital for bleeding in the head/brain. He's currently in an induced coma.
  14. A friend (and I use the term VERY loosely) in my fantasy football league is talking so much $hit right now about the Sox choking. He even said "I don't want to hear about the Cubs, 'cuz you guys are about to be the biggest chokers of all-time." So I guess he prefers being 20.5 games back to actually being competitive. It would be one thing if he just had his fun and called the Sox chokers, but to say he doesn't want to hear anything about the ScRubs and also say them choking the division away will "lift the ScRubs curse of '69" is damn comical to me. He believes in the curse, but also believes the Sox losing will somehow help the ScRubs? I know not all ScRubs fans are that preposterous, delusional dim-witted etc etc but are any of you guys having to put up with the same type of gibberish???
  15. At least Timo isn't in the lineup....I thought for sure Ozzie would find a way to get him and blum in the game...as starters! Bias wipes forehead and says "woooo."
  16. Anybody else feel like the playoffs start tonight???? I'm pumped, hope the boys in black are as pumped as we are and TCB!
  17. Yes, our Sox have blown a large lead, yes they should be much closer to clinching, yes they've been playing like the North siders, but I do believe it's time to rally and support them! I believe they can take care of business and we should support their effort, enough whining about bad play, it's time to sack up....us and of course the team. Here's to the Sox takin' the Indians outback behind the woodshed!
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) It depends whether you prefer the team to sound pessimistic or delusional. The LAST thing I'd want to hear is "Everything's going to be all right" until I SEE something that shows me everything is going to be all right. I didn't see or hear his comments, so I'd need to know the context. I'm assuming it's along the lines of "if we don't play the way we're capable of playing, we could get swept", and that to me is perfectly acceptable. If he were to say "Oh, man, those guys can MASH!!! We could get swept, no problem!!!", then I'd say he went overboard. Well, I prefer them to be realistic but I don't want to hear a player talking about getting swept. I mean that's pretty obvious, but I don't want the players thinking/feeling that way. I just don't think it bodes well. Of course I could be wrong.
  19. Anybody else bothered by him saying they could get swept? I think that's poor leadership....while it may be reality I don't like the mood and him saying that leads me to believe he doesn't think they can get it done. Am I making too much of it? I hope it's a wake up call, but I don't think it is.......
  20. What's funny is now that the lead is down to 4.5 all of sudden there is a sense of urgency...but people labeled as dark clouds have felt for a looooooooooooooooong time things weren't right with the Sox. There should've been a sense of urgency when the lead was down to 8 or 9. That put the Indians in striking distance, and now that the wheels have completely fallen off a 4.5 game lead seems like a .5 game lead the way their playing. I hate feeling like it's only a matter of time before the Sox fall out of first place. Hopefully, they'll sack up and take care of business....but does this team have the sack it takes??? I know last year's team didn't, and the year before that and the...well u get the point. Ozzie's got to put the best team on the field everyday and they have to stop playing like bums.
  21. I am just as pissed, frustrated, concerned or whatever you want to call it as anybody but I don't see the point of this thread. I'm not trying to tell people what they should or should not discuss, I just don't see the need to pile on. It's not just M.B. who has struggled, the entire team has sucked ass for weeks now! Guys bootin' routine grounders, OFs making horrendous errors, balks, wild pitches, base running blunders, terrible throws to the plate etc etc. If we wanted to we could probably say something 'bout each player on the Sox like so and so isn't a 3 hitter, so and so isn't a run producer, so and so doesn't have a great arm or whatever someone's weakness is but what's the point?
  22. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) Yeah, its gonna be 7-5!!!! Whopppeeee! About to lose 2 of 3 to the freakin' Royals. I can't believe I was ever dumb enough to think they were the best team in baseball..........................
  23. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 12:50 PM) Not to mention that Lawrence Phillips taught most of his girlfriends self defense. The old fashioned way. Yeah, but that was an invidual problem, not the institution's fault. He would've flipped out at any school he attended. Every school has its share of bad seeds....
  24. I never said Nebraska was on par with ND or Stanford, but all athletes get strong strong academic support at Nebraska. Their graduation rate is above 90% and as someone else posted earlier they have more academic all-americans than any other institution. As far as Juco's go, wasn't Tony Rice a Juco? Besides, what's wrong with taking a chance on certain kids? Some people mature later than others and it takes them longer to get their priorities in order....what I mean is maybe they goofed off in HS but now have their act/s together. What's wrong with giving them a shot? Nobody has to agree with MY list, just don't go posting erroneous/misinformed information.
