  1. Dear Mr. Hurt, Thank you for all the wonderful memories and for being one of the best hitters I've ever seen. May you be blessed with health but not beat up on the Sox (too much) when you play against them. Good luck Frank! WAR 35!
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) He was there but since all of them picked the Red Sox to beat us they basicly all had to eat some crow.... just Marriotti the most lol... Also for the most part I like Michael Smith I didn't have anything against him either 'til I heard that moronic (perhaps uneducated is more appropriate) comment. I just find it laughable that a team that just swept the Red Sox could be so underrated that someone would think they would get swept and go away quietly.
  3. Concerned about the layoff, but I doubt this team could have more confidence than it already does. People were worried they wouldn't bring the series back to Chicago due to their recent history on the west coast. Knowing they went and Exorcised those demons gives them confidence to go into anybody's house and play good baseball. Plus if the staff holds the opponent to no more than 3 runs in any one game like they did the Angels it shouldn't matter where they play.........
  4. I thought it was great to see Frank doing an interview and then have guys come over and shower him with the champagne....showed everyone he's a part of the team. Like Dustin's interview also....about the bullpen merely getting dressed for the celebrations. Great to see they don't care if they ever throw another pitch this year.
  5. Was Michael Smith on? He's the guy who on Thursday or Friday said what happened in game 2 doesn't matter 'cuz all it means is that instead of the Angels winning in 4 or 5 they'll now win in 5 or 6. He had the Angels sweeping the White Sox? What a tool!!!! That b**** best sack up and eat his crow on TV!
  6. I dont know if it's hit me yet, but it feels f***in' AWESOME!!!!! Gotta start calling Crede Joe "Clutch" from now.......like I posted before I can't stand him from inning 1 through 7 but from the 8th on he da man! What a performance by the starting pitchers, UNf***ingREAL. Man, I love this team!
  7. Awesome story, thanks for posting it. I grew up loving to hear the nancy start the organ and then the crowd start singing...it was my favorite experience at old Comiskey...mostlly 'cuz when the crowd sang it it meant something good was happening for the Sox. However, imagine my surprise when I heard my dad sing it differently..."kiss him goodbye." HUH??? In my naive youth ( 6-7 years old) I thought that was the White Sox song because I never heard it anywhere else and I was puzzled by my pops singing different words to the "White Sox" song. He had to school me and tell me it's not the White Sox song, it's an oldie but a goodie that they sing at Sox park. I don't care 'cuz to ME it will always be THE WHITE SOX SONG!
  8. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) If you ever want to use a catcher as a DH, it's pretty much a must to have 3 catchers. Well yeah, it's just really odd since most teams would never carry 3 backstops...............
  9. As far as Escobar v Crede, Joe almost took him yard in his previoius AB so they should've been more careful with Joe. Actually with a base open they should've considered pitching around him...then again Uribe hit a rope also...they were the only 2 Sox to get good wood on the ball v Escobar so anyway you look at it he was screwed. lol
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) Why would he use his back up catcher to start the game, and have his starter DHing instead? He has got to be smart enough to realize if you need the better Molina in the game, you would lose the use of the DH for the rest of the game if you move him in at Catcher. Instead they PR for Molina late in the game, and instead Josh Paul has to go in at Catcher, meaning the 2nd base was an easy steal for Molina. Getting past the Strike 3/Out controversy, would they have sent Ozuna for 2nd with a Molina behind the plate? Could Ozuna have scored from first on Crede's ball to the wall? That one little move trying to give the better Molina a day off behind the plate, was a big factor in the 9th inning to say the least. Honestly, I was asking myself why they have 3 catchers on the playoff roster????

    Crede....

f***in' Crede......that's the only guy I hate from the 1st inning 'til the 7th...but in the 8th and 9th can't help but love him.
  12. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) Uribe did his best to pull a Dybber when he overran 2nd base on the hit to right field. I almost had a heart attack. yeah, but if he was on second base he would've scored on that play............
  13. My concern is that they make too much out of last night. Scotty getting gunned down on the pitch out, AJ running for who knows why, not getting the job done (bunts) etc. I'm concerned because after they ran themselves out of a couple of innings it seemed guys weren't as aggressive. Case in point, I don't think there was any way anybody could've thrown Uribe out @ 2nd after the wild throw. No way Erstad gets to the ball in time and makes a Bo Jackson like throw to gun him down and Molina was even further away than Erstad. Uribe SHOULD'VE been on standing on 2b. I think if the score was tied and they hadn't run themselves out of a couple innings Uribe wouldn't have hesitated going to second. They gave one away, if they get their focus back they'll be allright. Not saying they WILL win it, but at least they won't give games away and win games they should.
  14. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 12, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Agreed on both parts. And I'm also just happy that we beat the Red Sox, so I won't have that shoved in my face. We should've know they weren't going to win last nigth...they just can't win 9 in a row. Hopefully they have one more 8 game winning streak in them.

QUOTE(Beastly @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) God, I can't stand people who boo our own players at the games. It really doesn't help them or make them feel welcome. Players have feelings too. Or should I say, why don't you get your ass out there and get someone out? Or why don't you be hired as GM? Yeah, thats what I thought. I sort of addressed this situation last week prior to game 1. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40912
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) At least that's what I think I heard. But if so, that's huge. I don't care who is playing or who isn't, the Sox best not come in over confident! They've been shut down by bums from time to time, so Colon being out means nothing in my humble opinion...........

QUOTE(S720 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) What are you talking about? Man, I forgot to TIVO the first game of the ALDS, and after we won that game, I DID NOT DARE TIVOing the other two games. Baseball is full of superstitions, curses, jinxes, etc. I'm as, if not more, superstitous as the next guy. 'Cuz I was gonna be at work on Tuesday I programmed the VCR to record the game. Even though I was home for Game 2 I programmed the VCR to record Game 2. I had a wedding to go to on Friday so of course I programmed the VCR to record Game 3. When I arrived home I found the VCR did not record Game 3 or anything else. I thought, damn I'm glad I didn't jinx them! lol That's not going to stop me for tonight though, as soon as I get home I'm programming the VCR....why mess with a good thing. FYI, I set the VCR to record at 2:30 am instead of PM, that's why it didn't record on Friday. I would've loved to rewatch Duque's masterfull 6th innning performance. Oh well.........
  18. Damaso, we need the REAL you homeboy! I don't want to hate you, but if you keep up the crappy performances you give me no choice. Go get 'em big guy!
  19. dahahaha...u guys crack me the fuch up. I love this place!

I'm practically being forced into going to dinner with the wife, her aunt & uncle and others to take their pastor out for dinner tonight to show their appreciation. I made it clear, if it gets too close to 7:00 I have no problem saying "Peace and I'm out!" I'm just wondering how they're going to perceive me drinking 6-8 cold ones in less than an hour!
  21. Oops! I hit the wrong link, wasn't meant to be a poll.
  22. Hopefully they're not buying into all they hype of the Angels being tired etc. It's the freakin' playoffs anybody truly believe the Angels are going to come in and lay an egg? They are a scrappy team and they are going to play their asses off. Sox best expect the best Angels team to take the field 'cuz if they don't Sox just might be down 0-1. Hopefully, the Sox will come out like gangbusters and make the Angels FEEL tired as Contreras shuts them down.
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) I got home and had to take my dog to the vet..what a buzz kill. I went from partying to mopping up his blood. He's ok...just a slice in his paw. I'll have to do some more partying today! Damn Geezer! Lucky for me I was at a wedding and I don't know if it was intentional but I appreciated it 'cuz the reception didn't start until 20 minutes AFTER the Sox won.........I celebrated by enjoying a few (actually about a dozen) cold ones.
  24. Due to work and 5:00 wedding I couldn't watch the game, but as soon as the ceremony ended I rushed to the bar to find the TV......I saw the score and saw Paulie standing under a pop up....looked for the score saw 4-3 then saw THE BASES WERE LOADED!!!! I just about s***. lol Anyway, people started filing in "what's the score, who's winning" etc etc. I was in a room full of strangers and we did everything but hold hands together as we watched Duque do his thing. Graf popped up and the bar erupted.....Damon checked his swing and I noticed the home-plate ump point and call him out, but most everyone else seemed to be waiting for the appeal to 3rd base umpire...when they saw AJ throw the ball and run to the dugout probably 12-15 people I've never seen in my life came up and high 5'd me. Even my wife's unlce who doesn't even like sports was high fiving people...f***in' incredible. WAR EL DUQUE!!!!!
  25. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Jumping up and down screaming "WOOOO HOOOOO YES, YES, YES, MY GOD , YES...etc, etc, etc", my son laughing came running up to me so I grab him and started hugging him like mad, my wife came running down stairs, calling me a freak and laughing, but also very excited. Yeah, the neighborhood knows now. Thought I'd share what I think is a kick ass story. We had a flag pole that I had to take down a couple months ago because it was just too unstable, didn't want it to fall on the house or a kid for that matter. Anyway, the nieghbors have a lil' war going with flags and such. One neighbor put up a ScRubs flag last year we went nuts! One night I took it down and hit it...he was so drunk he didn't realize it 'til morning..anyway long story short. Over the weekend put up a new flagpole 'cuz on Friday I bought a Sox Flag. Get this I had the ScRubs fan neighbor help me put it up too...hahaha..I told him my Bears flag from last year needed to go up...anyway Monday night I put it so everyone would see it Tuesday morning...Playoffs baby! I came home for lunch to catch the first inning and I was a bit dejected as there was almost no wind and the flag was not moving at all. After AJ hit his home run I stepped outside to yell "you can put it on the board...YES!" and I look up and low and behold the Sox flag was flapping in the wind as if there was a 20 mile/hour gust...but there wasn't. I just smiled and thought "that's my team baby!"
